Welcome back everyone, the purpose of today's video is to go over a refresh on Unusual Whales. We are late 2022 and we're going to look at all the different new features, provide an overview, look at some of the changes within the previously existing features and discuss

so that you can have a more comprehensive view of what Unusual Whales is today. Why is that important? Because Unusual Whales is very different from what it was in the past and I think this overview will help those who aren't using Unusual Whales understand what the

platform does and those who do use Unusual Whales to extract more value. Now, a quick note that I'm going to make here is a lot of people say, well why are there so many changes? We're not fans of changes, overhauls, the user interface.

I can tell you as a former Tech CEO that I think Unusual Whales has done a fantastic job. He's someone that I correspond with, the owner, founder, he's also the lead developer. He's very agile in the development process, cares deeply,

takes a lot of feedback and does his best to push things out in a quick manner but an efficient one. As maybe with a little bit of bias coming from a tech CEO background, of course, I've also been in the capital markets for 20 years.

I love that, I love agile development and agile developers and all that really means when I say agile, they're quick. It doesn't take three years to push out a new feature or development, so he's constantly making changes, listening to the market, so the changes are good.

Change is good in this case, and of course, who am I? For those of you who don't know, my name is Peter Tarr. I've been in the capital markets for just under 20 years. I became a professional options derivative specialist and a professional stock trader in 2005. That is when I received

my license. I'm a private fund manager, wealth advisor now, and of course, I have my Twitter account, which is Profits Taken, and here we are on my YouTube channel. Perhaps one day we'll also have this on Twitter as well. So, let's get started with the market overviews where we're

going to start, and I think a lot of you already understand this is where we kick off. I want to give you guys a comprehensive view, sort of touch on almost everything that is offered with Unusual Whales and highlight some of the changes that you might not know

about. Pretty straightforward, you get a sector sector flow over here, you get some of the latest news. I like this sort of layout because it aggregates data and to one page. I'm a big fan of aggregating data. I have multiple screens when I'm

running through the day, of course, because we're tracking the markets, we're making changes. I'm also trying to help those on Twitter understand the markets, and I have daily alerts. Things like this are helpful to me, and with Unusual Whales, they've just aggregated in one

place. So, that's a market overview, pretty straightforward. We go to the live flow. Most of you know this first and foremost, the live flow. So, I'm just going to highlight one of the changes of course here, but I'm also going to pop up filters because that's a

big part of the live flow and you can set your filters to whatever you'd like I just have some default settings here and of course I haven't filtered down to a specific ticker which is why you see you know Amazon Netflix AMD multiple different companies here typically when

I'm performing on my evaluations I narrow down to a specific ticker if you want to learn more about that what I use as my filters what I'm looking for options flow data is just one portion of my trade analysis I never work off of just one piece of data but I combine it

and it's a very helpful portion there's utility here so what I want to highlight today just in this quick overview not to be redundant because I've looked at this before is some of the things that have changed and specifically when you're going through it's going to look similar

but one of the things that has popped up where people have asked questions they've noticed the sides of the trade has been has been adjusted so we're not saying buy and sell anymore and this is something I'm happy to see change because it wasn't so accurate and it may

be confusing for some so many people see buy or sell it's on the buy side the sell side this many options were sold contracts were sold puts were sold calls were bought that's not really accurate and it can cause confusion why well because anytime something's bought it's also sold

there's no such thing as one without the other a transaction requires both a buyer and a seller so people would look at them and say oh man people are selling options today it's it's we're having a sale well no people are buying right volume

requires both sides of a transaction, so it's more accurate to simply describe the side of the trade. So when you're hitting the ask side versus the bid side, I'll give a very quick and basic explanation of that. Let's look here, let's just choose any of these. So in

this specific example, right, we're looking at Amazon. The bid side, we start the bid at 1270, and the ask is 1290. So we executed this is the spot at 1290. So which side did we hit? We hit the ask side.

Why is that important? Well, when we're hitting the ask side, it's pressure upwards, right? So if someone's asking, I'll give you a basic example in real life. If we're at an auction, right, and it starts at one dollar, and the next increment is two, if we stay

at one dollar, that keeps the price down, that suppresses the price. Then we're not going to auction up, we're going to sell, we're going to say, going once, going twice, sold for one dollar. But as we push towards the ask side, it drives the price

up, right? So they say it's one dollar, asking two, I say two dollars, asking three, someone says three, what are we doing? We're creating upwards pressure. And that's generally how the markets work, not just for options trading, but for those of you who want to understand

the importance of bid and ask, that's a really simple way to think about it. And now we're seeing a more accurate description, like I said, uh, Mr. Whale, we'll call him, I will respect his privacy, is always taking feedback, developing the platform, and trying to improve this.

is an improvement because it's more accurate it's more of a professional description when I speak about it with my professional colleagues and those within the fund we don't say was there was there a buyer or was it a seller we say we're hitting the ask we

see them hitting the ask we see them hitting the bid uh we're pushing down we're pushing up there's upwards pressure downwards pressure and so this is the bid and ask and just while we're here to let you know this isn't within unusual whales but the difference

between the two of these is known as the spread what is the spread right how far is the spread they're spread apart by 20 cents here and I have other videos please go through my watch list on how to understand options as well because I explain the importance of a spread it's

significant but we won't delve too far into that so you see that's one of the big changes of course and you can customize these columns as well so you'll see that there's now a an icon for the outside and you see expiration dates and you

have all sorts of different options here you'll see just as a matter of default even in the videos that I have I always turn off ETFs and indices because it will it will clog up the feed here if we turn them on because there's so many transactions if I want

to look at those I just look at them separately but you choose what you want to look at when you want to look at if we want to filter down to a specific ticker like say Netflix you just type Netflix in here nflx actually you type

the ticker and then of course you get more data in the premium size spot, all these other things I've described in other videos. So please again take a look at them. This hasn't changed so much but the bid and ask side I've just explained. I think it's more accurate, I think it's

more clear and I think it's very helpful. But what else do we have? Well, I have videos on a lot of the different features individually but I want to provide an overview because I think what happens sometimes is you see the specific videos I make and you think

well I don't even know the general overview so why would I look at something specific like super flow or the live charting? Completely understandable. Let's do that over you, let's have that so you can have a more comprehensive view. So we go to

the menu here, right? And you can save and reset things but we've gone over that in other videos. Go to the menu here and we have a lot of different options here. And this is, this is not exhaustive, there are actually more features within Unusual Whales now. For a lot of these you might

think well I could find those in place A, B and C. Sure, but the point of introducing these additional features, some of them are unique to Unusual Whales and some of them that you could perhaps find elsewhere, well if you're not a professional if you don't do this

for a living, you probably don't have subscriptions in multiple different avenues or enough real estate on your display to really delve into everything simultaneously. So Unusual Whales, what he's done is he's taken the important elements and consolidated them and made them an offering to add value to you as

a user and of course there's a there's a free um option for unusual whales as well so we'll take a look at them and some of these are self-explanatory so we have the live hot chains of course you guys understand hot chains right we're just

seeing what's hot what's being hit what's receiving the volume what is hot in the markets right now it's as it's described I think it's a good description uh hot isn't perhaps the most technical term but it's a great term because it's self-explanatory right

and I'm a big advocate of not trying to be overly verbose or overly eloquent and speak for yourself speak for your audience and this is one of the things that drive me crazy with some of my cohort and colleagues in the finance space if you're trying to actually help

someone put it in terms that communicates the most clearly and the most effectively don't speak for your own sake so that you can impress yourself with your vocabulary and technical jargon if someone doesn't understand you you're not being effective so this is as it's described

and like the description uh live watch list pretty straightforward you can create your own watch list with an unusual whales and you have access to the those live watch lists and live flow alerts you get you can set up alerts for the float then we have the those there's

the flow alerts and you see some descriptive items here volume is over the opening interest right and you can click on these to get a deeper description I'm just going to do that again and you get some more data there and you get to see how it's over and you can

visualize the trade you can go to the flow you can delve deeper so if you take interest in any of these specific line items you could dig a little bit deeper of course next we go to the superflow and if you're interested in this I actually have a separate video on

superflow and I will try to link to that here but you can just go to my unusual whales playlist remember I have one for unusual whales if you're interested or if you're using it whether you're using free or the paid subscription and then I

have one that is simply explaining everything about options assuming that you know the very basics and I have a full options watch list on how to become a better more knowledgeable trader but I really like the super flow because again what I say earlier it consolidates a lot

of items into one and if you're interested in learning more check out my video on the superflow but what this does is it aggregates a lot of good relevant data and you can see it's modular what I mean by modular these are

modules you can move them around you can change shape you can expand them you can close them do as you wish I love that sort of thing it's just customizable makes it feel like you're on your desktop dark pool trades are pretty straightforward if you don't know what the dark pool is

it is off-market trades that are agreed to uh there's a little bit more to it of course in understanding the impact and the relevance some people think there's more some people think there's less but for those who are interested it's here and you can look at the dark

dark flow and of course many people refer to this as dark flow prints. Dark pool prints so you can get an idea of what's going on in the dark pool. Of course, there's the lit flow, there's the live charting. Live charting I actually

have another video on and again you probably have charting through your financial software, whatever your brokerage is. Of course you can chart with Interactive Brokers which FYI I do feel is probably the best offering out there internationally and in the United States. Uh I think

Interactive Brokers is fantastic. You can look in the description below and have a link to Unusual Whales but also to Interactive Brokers. And if you're anywhere else you're going to have some form of charting but this is about consolidation, convenience, and just adding value for users. So we'll

take a look at that really quickly. It's exactly what you think it is. It's live charting and you can do this through Unusual Whales. You can pull up quotes, you can chart, you can add drawings to your page, you can make adjustments, look at different time

frames, apply studies, all the things you would expect from charting. And this is just value added. It's not to say you don't have it here. It is, yeah, you probably do have it but now you have it consolidated within your dashboard. And I have a full entire video

breaking down how you can use that. So if you're curious, take a look. Of course we have intraday analyst and a trading journal. Again, it's pretty straightforward. Hot chains and tickers. Hot chains and tickers looks a little bit different than the live hot chains.

and this is exactly what you think it is you get to see the hot chains what's the hottest what's moving right now you're always going to see SPY near the top and Tesla's always going to be up there as well you can expect the Apple these

are the mega caps indices and ETFs but then you can dig in a little bit deeper and see on some of the specifics on the actual chains so on those different strikes 395 to 396 you get to see the bid ask and some

other important information and sort of what the split is here you see the bullish and bearish I would like if this bearish icon was changed to a koala so if you're ever looking at my Twitter and you see a koala means bearish and I know

koalas aren't bears they're bears to me they're bears in name they're not bears as creatures and marsupials and then what you can do here I suggest just as a quick overview I usually hide the index ETF funds so you can see here see how

the SPY disappeared yeah SPY on the QQQ and all the other ETFs and indices I like to hide those because again it just colors up my view and then you could break it down by a sector and also market cap market cap Mega companies so if we go with the mega

you're going to see the Teslas the Apples Amazon's Metas and you go to smaller companies well 10 to 50 billion what we refer to as smaller right companies like Neo Palantir Shopify and you get smaller and smaller and smaller

and you can see which companies are hot and doing well and seeing a lot of volume in that regard so some people like to focus on different size for liquidity's sake I like to just leave everything on just say all caps and just see where the action is

they don't restrict myself but again be aware of liquidity and I do discuss that in other videos when you go under my options videos correlations Explorer pretty interesting see correlations between two securities how they're moving in tandem this is Google and Google so they're going to be pretty

tightly correlated here they're just different classes of shares for those who don't understand it's kind of beyond the scope of this particular video but why are you seeing Google as doc one and Google a stock too well notice g o o g g o o g l just different classes of shares

within the same company but then you start to see different correlations between different securities and if that's of interest to you it's here live sectors flow also pretty straightforward remember there are also ticker codes or ticker symbols for all of the different sectors and then there's sub sectors so

you'll see technology and under technology you see something like Apple right it's consumer electronics or software Microsoft and it breaks it down and correlates the dope and Oracle and such and of course semiconductors which you can look up under SMH if you're

looking for a ticker to track that this is all under the branch of or umbrella of Technology it's just different branches right because under technology you have software you have consumer electronics semiconductors Information Technology Services etc etc and under semiconductors you know then

when you have that subset you'll see who's in semiconductors, well you can have AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc. Qualcomm is here and it kind of repeats itself over right because under Healthcare you also have sub-sectors there's healthcare plans and providers

Right, medical supplies, there's also drug manufacturers like Johnson & Johnson or Eli Lilly or Pfizer, I mean all these companies that you know and the same thing that repeats over and over, you can see how the flow is is working within those specific sectors. Again, if you have

brokerage software, yes you can punch this in and just monitor those in your watch lists as something that I do but this is just another convenience if you want to take a snapshot, get an overview, have a general understanding, a lot of good general information and then of

course, you can look at chain OI changes, what is that? That's open interest and why is that of interest? Well, you just so when you look at the overall hot chains and tickers you're seeing an aggregation of data, you see an aggregation of data that is helpful, it

kind of gives you the overview of where things stand. This is more about the Delta, what do I mean by Delta? Right, Delta is just a term that we use to say change because in mathematics when you look at the Delta between two numbers you're just looking at the difference

right, looking at the change here. So why is a change important because you want to see what's moving, what's happening, what's changing right, changes alert you to changes right, something's different, something's happening, it can alert you to a potential event or change within

the underlying and it might be something that you're interested in for those who want to dig deeper. It's pretty straightforward. We can move on to news so we're down here in the live news flow. Shows you different news on different companies and again if you feel like a lot of this

is overwhelming, don't take it that way. The point of this is to simplify it and say, hey look, you don't have to have all these windows open, but it's actually simplified because everything's aggregated into one place for you. You can move from one to another and you can

see this is live flow like I said. Mr. Whale, which we'll refer to him as Unusual Whales as a company, is very sensitive to what users are looking for and try to provide everything. So don't be overwhelmed, use that which is of value to you and which isn't, you know

you might find a lot of the additional items to be of value and not even look at the options flow, and maybe it's vice versa. That's okay, right? Whatever works for you and helps you as a trader helps you with your knowledge base and this is

the flow of news. Yeah, options dashboard, analyst flow, of course it's straightforward. Lets you know what's going on, what analysts are looking at, and of course you know you get down to market events. What's a market event? The reason that I wanted to pick this one is

one that I click on and explain is because that might throw people off. My P people might think market events, you mean like news? Do you mean like the Fed speaking? No, it's more about trading halts, IPOs, right? IPOs, initial public offerings. Uh, that was an area that I

specialize in also some people if you're international you refer to that as new issues I was an assistant new issues coordinator new issues again is the same thing as an IPO it's a new issuance of securities and so what we see you see

some important information trades halts some people like to follow that some people like to trade based on halts pauses different information and then it gives you the reason as to why something was halted right so volatility trading pause what can I liken that to and equate that to

probably sensitive but if you're somebody who knows about the what they call the meme stock movement I think that that discredits it but if you know about AMC Jimmy right that's AMC and um GameStop you saw a lot of trading pauses due to volatility so the price runs too

far there's circuit breaker shuts down this is normal within the markets and you can dig into understanding that a little bit more but a volatility trading pause is just something that's automated by the markets there are a variety of different reasons as to why this occurs

right and then you can see here has options doesn't what does that mean not every security and you probably know this not every security is optionable you can't find the options being traded for every single security right the CBOE accepts different securities to be

traded on options basis and some are not accepted and some don't try to get accepted so this tells you which one is which you may only be interested in trading options you may be interested in trading underlying saves you a little bit of time like I said it's a lot of

conveniences here, so that gives you a bit of an understanding. Of course, there's so much more here; there are all kinds of different elements. You also have the options profit calculator. I have a full video on that, so go to my Unusual Whales playlist to get a little bit

more if you want to dig in deeper, but this is just a refresh for late 2022, early 2023, to give you a more comprehensive view overview of the platform itself, what the offerings are, what some of the subtle differences are, and why they're significant as I showed
