I'm sitting inside one of the best-selling Toyotas ever made, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. This one's an XLE, and in this video, I'm going to talk to you guys about why you don't have to worry about how long your Toyota Hybrid battery will last you. And I'm going to give you some information with regards to this specific question of how long you can expect your Toyota high-voltage battery to last in your vehicle, just ahead in this video. All right, before we get started, let's talk about what comes standard

from the factory in terms of warranties. So the Toyota hybrids come with a 96-month, 160,000 km warranty on the hybrid-related components. So anything parts-wise that's related to the hybrid system comes with a 96-month, that's an 8-year

warranty, or 160,000 km, whichever comes first. Now, it gets even better if you didn't already know with regards to the Toyota hybrid high-voltage battery that powers up your electric hybrid system. That comes with a 120-month, that's a 10-year warranty.

It comes with 120 months or 240,000 km, whichever comes first warranty from the manufacturer on the high-voltage hybrid battery. So clearly, for at least the first 8 years or 160,000 km, as long as you're doing your regular routine recommended maintenance

on your Toyota hybrid vehicle, if anything ever did go wrong, you're covered. Now, I'm going to go over some averages and what you can expect in just a second. But guys, keep in mind Toyota has been at the hybrid game for nearly 30 years. Uh, when the first Prius

was introduced in the late 1990s, so Toyota's got their stuff together when it comes to hybrid powertrain systems. And one would think that they give these fantastic hybrid warranties, one of the best hybrid warranties in the industry on hybrid related components and on the

hybrid batteries themselves because they know they can back it up. Now, if you're not new to the channel, you may have heard me say in the past that I've been here working with Toyota at Maple Toyota for nearly 17 years, and in my time at

the dealership, we've never replaced one hybrid battery. In fact, I believe the only one that we did replace was because the customer that brought it in tried to modify or tamper with the high voltage hybrid battery. Otherwise, we really haven't had any hybrid battery

replacements at this store. There are a number of reputable sources online that average out that the Toyota batteries last more than 300,000 km or an average of 15 years. There's some other sources that state for at least the first 8 years, the risk of the high voltage

battery failure on these Toyota hybrids is very, very low. Now, I did do a couple of hybrid maintenance videos and hybrid battery related videos earlier on in this channel. I'm going to put links in the description below and also cards up in this video so you can go back later

and check them out. One is pertaining to the hybrid battery replacement cost. The other one is comparing the hybrid maintenance versus the non-hybrid maintenance. Uh, but let's continue on with this video. Just like your regular combustion powertrain system and engine, you've got to keep up with your

recommended hybrid maintenance from your dealer from your manufacturer being Toyota, if you keep up with your routine maintenance and you don't abuse your hybrid battery system or the components. For example, most of our hybrid Toyotas, the high voltage battery is underneath the rear passenger seats. If you don't

spill anything on top and it gets in, you know, some moisture condensation gets into where the battery cavity is. Let's say if that's even possible, you'd have to spill a lot of fluids. Um, you know, you don't really have many issues that

you're going to be looking forward to really. Um, your regular maintenance on the hybrid battery system really just uh is replacing your air filter on your hybrid battery system. So yes, there is a little air filter at the side of the hybrid battery where it's located that

you've got to replace just like your cabin air filter to help the air flow getting in and out of that area, keep the battery under the normal temperatures and clean and so on. For as long as you're not abusing the privilege of having a hybrid uh powertrain system, uh

you can definitely expect your hybrid battery to last you pretty much as long as the vehicle itself could last you, or for as long as you would own it. Which general ownership of most vehicles is anywhere from 3 to about 7 years. Uh

that's typically in our demographic in our area, how long uh buyers and customers are keeping their vehicles. Seven is on the high side, three is on the short side. Uh, but if you average it out, that's generally how long customers are keeping their hybrid Toyotas and
