It only appears to be a misuse. The page that comes up when using a rental car on the Socar app includes information about the vehicle damage waiver system. It clearly states the waiver system, which explains the coverage related to your vehicle. It mentions that you are covered by a global insurance company and that you are protected at the highest level from risks. Most people seeing this would think that by signing up for the vehicle damage waiver product, they would receive coverage from AXA. However, in reality, that was not the case. As the Socar employee mentioned earlier, the vehicle damage waiver has nothing to do with AXA. They just placed the AXA name on that page because it looked plausible. They simply slapped the name of AXA, which handles personal injury and property damage claims, onto the vehicle damage waiver page. If Socar is going to just attach any random name to it, then...

Why do we even subscribe to exemption products in the first place? If we argue like this, it’s as if we’re saying we won’t use our turn signals when we decide to give up on something. It seems like we’re going to stick that everywhere on our cars. Just because we doze off while driving or speed once, it doesn’t mean we should send our lives down the drain. The same goes for SoCar’s regular rentals. They say things like the best compensation in the industry for the visible parts, but when you look a bit closer, you find that all major accidents are not covered by the rental car insurance. As for the general rental practices, the insurance company, AXA, that is supposed to cover the visible vehicle damages, is just a cute marketing gimmick. If you have a product you are currently using, please make sure to check the terms and conditions carefully.

If there are people who would refuse compensation even for a single traffic violation due to circumstances beyond their control, then we should refrain from using such services. Some fools might come and ask if you even have an insurance adjuster certification, as if that’s relevant to the problem, and they might even dismiss it as nonsense. However, I hope that even those people are aware of this information and that they do not suffer any harm. Just because you had a moment of good fortune, if you accidentally crossed the center line to avoid an accident, it could lead to dire consequences.
