What a sorrow! Such a beautiful beginning to the Olympics—this magnificent gathering designed to build bridges and nourish fraternity between the nations of the world. I think something like 205 nations sent athletes to the Olympics, especially with so much tension in the air internationally over war and the possibility and rumors of war. To have something like the Olympics that unites the world together in healthy sport—such a wonderful thing! And it began with such good feelings, until, of course, the Olympic organizing committee decided that it's a good time to insult...

in the deepest and most sincere—shocking way—billions of Christians throughout the world. Not just to insult us, but to openly mock our most sacred mystery of the Eucharist, the Last Supper, by recreating Da Vinci's Last Supper with...

homosexuals, drag queens, transvestites, and a man with his scrotum hanging out on public television. This is after having all sorts of ill-clad people, including little children, walk down the runway of perversion. Nothing like offering some wholesome content to the watching world, eh? Well, to the Olympic committee, I think we can say your message is duly noted. We see it; we understand exactly who you are and what you care about. We've received your message that you despise religion and that you mock...

Christ, you have no place for him! You think he's ridiculous, that you despise morality, that you abhor decency. We've got the message; we get it. No surprises; we're not surprised. Uh, everyone knows your commitments. You are sick and intolerant.

Perverts! We get it; we get it. You've shoved it down our throats again, of course. Uh, these promoters of the sexual revolution, uh, are supposed to be people, right? Who wanted marriage, right? That was the whole push, all right? To get...we just want to be

able to...to be able to get married. That's why we have to redefine marriage across the Western world. Sure, this is why only a tiny percentage of same-sex couples actually got married. All of the virtues of marriage, fidelity being chief amongst them, have no place in the LGBT movement.

Fidelity is simply not a virtue, uh, of the lifestyles of the LGBT community. But what they really wanted to do was to destroy the normativity of heterosexual relations; they wanted to dismantle marriage by redefining it so that they could undercut the bedrock of

civilization, uh, and create a new civilization; a civilization not based on the natural law, not based on Jesus's teachings, not based on morality. The great irony of this blasphemous charade in Paris is that the organizers, who had this incredible opportunity to bring the

world together, uh, through sport, mocked and disgraced the only one who can actually pull it off: Jesus himself. The only one who died for every person from every nation, who has been, for 2,000 years, gathering people of every color, of every language, of every nation in the

World together in one body, joined to Him whose love envelops all people and pulls all people together; the One who actually can unify, the only One who actually can unify all the peoples of the world. The Olympic committee decides to mock and hold up to public

disgrace. How sad is that? And then there was their apology—something that would have been better not to have said, since their apology was just as bad, if not worse, than the blasphemy itself. It was a non-apology apology. First, thank God that so many from around

the world openly protested this vicious and intolerant attack on the world's Christians. That the organizing committee had to say something at all—thank God for that—calling out these tolerance tyrants, this lavender mafia, these rainbow radicals. First, in their apology they said that they didn't intend to offend.

Right, they didn't intend to offend. And then they said that they reevaluated what they've done and that they have concluded that what they did—this blasphemous charade—was an expression of their values. Well, that's good to know; we

knew that already. And that if anyone was offended, of course, that's just saying, 'What's wrong with you people? You know, why aren't you with us?' And if you're crazy enough to be offended by the organizing committee attacking the love of your life, openly mocking

the person you love more than anyone else, the very foundation of your whole existence—Jesus Himself—if you are one of those people who would be offended, oh well, they're sorry. What a horrible, horrible response! The reality is that they demand cultures throughout the world to promote their sexual

Anarchy in the capitals of Western nations that have bowed down to worship this disgraceful movement. They are actually making this clear: Nations can receive our military support; they can be in league with us; we can support their poor—if they promote the sexual revolution.

If they don't, well, you poor Africans can just go to hell. That's basically what these people practice. How should we Christians respond? What is the response that Jesus would be proud of in us to this terrible blasphemy? And let's note, dear ones, this is terrible

blasphemy. This is worse than the burning of a nation's flag. Burning a nation's flag within a nation's borders is an extremely irreverent and provocative act, but what the organizing committee of the Olympics did is far worse than that. It's far

worse than someone coming into your presence and cursing your mother up and down. Which one of us would sit by and do nothing in response to that? I can't imagine. But this is something far worse; this is an attack on Jesus

himself. This is not just public blasphemy; this is public blasphemy that was broadcast literally around the globe. There is no place in the world that this was not seen and heard. Now, this was the worst. How do we respond to this public

curse on Jesus and us, this open mockery? Well, first we pray. We pray for these people who were involved—not just the actors and actresses, not just the perverts who actually participated in this, but those who promoted it, those who organized it, those who approved it, those who

collaborated in the publication of this immoral act. There are hundreds and hundreds of people involved in this grotesque blasphemy, and we have to pray for them all. They have terribly jeopardized their relationship with God. To blaspheme His

Son is extremely dangerous; an extremely bad thing to do. The Lord has eyes; the Lord God has seen this. We have to pray and ask the Lord to visit each one with repentance so that they can be saved. Remember, St. Paul was a blasphemer, and look what the mercy of

the Lord did for him, making him our champion. What I would really hope, what I want—I told my parishioners this yesterday—I want to catechize and baptize everyone who was involved in concocting this evil scheme and foisting

it upon the world. I want to catechize and baptize them all. I want to be able to wash this heinous sin away from them in the waters of holy baptism and nourish them with the very Eucharist that they held up to public mockery. The

world—that would be a dream come true. May the Lord bless it and grant that we priests have the honor and the happiness of welcoming these rebels to worship the Son. May they fall down and worship Him before it's too late for

them. I also want to respond by thanking God for moving the hearts of tens of thousands of Christians in France and in Paris who gathered last evening in vigil to praise the Lord's name and to show their utter, complete contempt for what happened, for this

First, I want to thank God for those who have removed themselves from cooperating with this degraded Olympic committee.  Companies like Sepire, who have removed their advertising funds. I hope the rest of the companies do the same and make what was

supposed to be a huge moneymaker for the Olympics and for France, into something that well, didn't fulfill their expectations and shows them that the world's not going to put up with this kind of grotesque, inhuman behavior. I also think that we should

demand that the entire Olympics organizing committee be fired immediately—everyone who was involved in the approval of this—and that a tenant should be added to the governance document of that committee forbidding attacks on the religious sensibilities of the nations participating in

this. This needs to be codified so that it never happens again. Can you imagine if a like offense was made against Islam? We would have seen violence of immense proportions in the streets, which would have been sad. And I'm not suggesting that that is a Christian

response. We believers, we Christians, have a very different response to such things than Islam does. We have a different attitude towards persecution, a different attitude towards being attacked, a different perspective on returning evil for evil. We just—we

don't do that. But there should be a definitive response so that this never happens again. And on a larger scale, the fact that such a thing could be done shows so much overconfidence in the promoters of the sexual revolution, so much overconfidence by this action of the

LGBTs, if they think that they can just keep flaunting their, uh, attitudes—their intolerant, uh, God-hating, family- and marriage-hating attitudes—around the world and then it's not going to come back on them and it's not going to end very poorly for them, they have

another thing coming. Absolutely. This just shows us once again that we must rid ourselves of the influence of the sexual revolution. Not just resist immoral sexual expressions in our hearts and our minds and our actions—of course we should; this is something that Christians have been resolved to do from

the beginning. We should also cherish our marriages. We should especially oppose that expression of the sexual revolution and sexual anarchy that has most impacted Christians, which is the willingness of Christians to divorce and to violate Jesus's clear teaching on marriage. We just don't do that. We have a

tiny, tiny little permission, uh, for divorce, and that's not to say that there's a permission for remarriage; that's a completely separate issue. We need to cherish our marriages and nourish them. That's a great response to open profanity and the violent mockery

and attack of the LGBT movement: cherish our marriages. The sexual revolution and sexual anarchy are destroying Western civilization. Country after country is losing its vision for life, which is expressing itself in this quest for unchecked sexual pleasure without responsibility, not just killing babies by the hundreds of thousands

every year, but causing the human race to disappear. Western civilization has not just abandoned the normal reproductive rates for the last 2,000 years, but now has fallen—all the great Western countries of Western Europe—fallen below reproductive maintenance rates of 2.1. Many are now so

Low birth rates are so significantly abandoning marriage and childbearing and family life that not only is there a spate of illnesses, mental illnesses, and all sorts of human dysfunction because of the abandonment of families and the breakdown of marriage, but also we just don't even

have human beings anymore. Many countries are reaching rates like 1.2, I think in Italy, where there's not going to be an Italy; it's just done. Let's bring sexual anarchy to an end. Let's end the LGBT movement once and for all before its ideology ends our

civilizations themselves. And I'll make one last but important word on how to respond to blasphemy. It comes from the teaching of the great St. John Chrysostom, from his first homily in the series of homilies called 'On the Statues.' These are sermons

that St. John delivered when he was a priest in the God-protected city of Antioch. Let me read, in closing, his words about how to respond to public blasphemy. Okay, I think you will be uh shocked and nourished by these words. This is St.

John Chrysostom:  'But since our discourse has now turned to the subject of blasphemy, I desire to ask one favor of you all in return for this my address and speaking with you, which is that you will correct, on my behalf, the blasphemers of this

city. And should you hear anyone in the public thoroughfare or in the midst of the Forum blaspheming God, go up to him and rebuke him; and should it be necessary to inflict blows, spare not to do so. Smite him on the face, strike his mouth, and sanctify'

Thy hand, with the blow—strike his mouth and sanctify thy hand with the blow. And if any should accuse thee and drag thee to the place of justice, follow them thither; and when the judge on the bench calls thee to account, say boldly that the man blasphemed the

King of angels; for if it be necessary to punish those who blaspheme an earthly king, much more so those who insult God. It is a common crime, a public injury, and it is lawful for everyone who is willing to bring forward an accusation. Let the Jews and Greeks learn

that the Christians are the saviors of the city, that they are its guardians, its patrons, and its teachers. Let the dissolute and the perverse also learn this: that they must fear the servants of God too; that if at any time they are inclined to utter such

a thing, they may look round every way at each other and tremble even at their own shadows, anxious lest perchance a Christian, having heard what they said, should spring upon them and sharply challenge them. Have you not heard what John did? He saw a man that was a

tyrant, overthrowing the laws of marriage; and with boldness he proclaimed in the midst of the forum, "It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother Philip's wife." Speaking of John the Baptist. But I urge thee on, not against a prince or a judge,

nor against the marriage ordinance outraged, nor in behalf of fellow servants insulted; but I require thee to castigate an equal for insolence against the Lord. Truly, if I had said unto thee, "Punish and correct those kings or judges who transgress the laws," would you not

Say that I was mad, but John, forsooth, acted thus, so that even this is not too much for us. Now, then, at least correct a fellow servant and equal; and although it should be necessary to die, do not shrink from chastising a brother. This is thy

martyrdom, since John was also a martyr; and although he was not commanded to sacrifice nor to worship an idol, yet for the sacred laws that were despised, he laid down his head. Do thou, too, then contend, even to the death, for the

truth, and God will fight for you. And make me not this cold reply: "What does it matter to me? I have nothing in common with him." With the devil alone we have nothing in common; but with a man we have many things in common, for they

partake of the same nature with us; they inhabit the same earth; they are nourished with the same food; they have the same Lord; they have received the same laws and are invited to the same blessings with ourselves. Let us not then say that we have nothing in common

with them; for this is a satanic speech, a diabolical inhumanity. Therefore, let us not give utterance to such words, but exhibit such a tender care as becomes brethren. Wow! Strike the blasphemer with your right hand, St. John Chrysostom says, and make your right hand holy

in so doing. Well, there is the patristic understanding of blasphemy and the proper Christian response to it. Yeah, in our land, uh, should you do such a thing, uh, where God is no longer acknowledged, uh, by the state in any formal way, where this grotesque, pure

Secularism is leading us to complete degradation. Uh, to follow the Council of St. John Chrysostom will probably get you arrested, no doubt. But you see the mentality towards blasphemy. I would suggest that a nice thing to do, perhaps, uh, from one perspective, safer...

in Western countries today, something that I've counseled my own spiritual children, and I have to do, and I've practiced it myself on many, many occasions: when you hear blasphemy, respond to it, heal it by making your cross and saying, 'Great is the name of'

our Lord Jesus Christ,' or 'Great is His holy name.' Many a time over the years, as I've been sitting in a movie theater and I heard some public blasphemy like this, I just raised my voice and said, 'Great is His holy name,' and many in the theater

have said, 'Amen.' Amen. Yes. May we Christians love God and love people enough not to just allow ourselves to thoughtlessly swirl down the toilet of blasphemy. No, let's cherish the name of Jesus. Let's love and seek the good of blasphemers, and not just, uh,

only care about ourselves. That is, in St. John Chrysostom's words, a satanic inhumanity. No, we have to care about everyone. May the Lord look on this tragic Olympic blasphemy and grant us a better day. Amen. [Music]
