[Music] Subscribe, subscribe, mother. We're a few days away from the Jakarta gubernatorial elections, and people have been asking me to give my take regarding this entire thing. So, how about I fix you guys a quick guide on who to pick in this year's Jakarta elections? Now, before we

continue, I should explain to you guys why Jakarta is such an important place and why the Jakarta gubernatorial elections are always the highlight of the regional elections in Indonesia. So, move over Bandung, Surabaya, and Medan, you guys are sadly not that important. You see, Jakarta has been the

capital of Indonesia long before Indonesia was even a concept. Yes, Jakarta being the capital was older than print. Jakarta was known as Sunda Kelapa under the kingdom of Sunda, and then the Sultanate of Demak, which is basically the Muslim version of the Majapahit Kingdom under

half-Japanese, half-Chinese Prince Fatahillah took over Sunda Kelapa and renamed it Jayakarta. Jayakarta was later taken over by the kingdom of Banten, which was later seized by the Dutch and was renamed Batavia. Under the Dutch, Batavia became the

capital of what them tall, stoop waffle munching race of people ruled their spice empire. The Japanese came over and took over Batavia, renaming it to Jakarta because they cannot say Jayakarta for some reason. The Japanese had a habit of

renaming things because their ego at the time was similar to a 13-year-old discovering political power through playing Civilization and suffering from shock megalomania. Since Indonesia's independence, Jakarta has always been a capital, and Sarno and Sardo's policy is

always been about centralization of power, which attracted numerous investments and infrastructure attention on Java, specifically concentrated around Jakarta. Jakarta became the only modern metropolis in Indonesia due to this, although Bandung, Surabaya, and Makassar are catching up. And because of the central

government policy which contributes to Jakarta's growth and increase, Jakarta is effectively King's Landing, and whoever rules Jakarta well essentially rules Indonesia. Just take a look at Jokowi, who got out or has the potential to rule Indonesia. Ali Sadikin, for example, was

the strongest political threat to Suharto after the Communists due to his rulership of Jakarta. And later, Anies Baswedan also became a huge threat to Joko's administration. Whoever sits at the number one position in Jakarta has the power to control the regional budget,

choose which project wins and permit any companies from forming. As you can see, Jakarta is of massive political importance, that anyone who becomes its Governor has a clean shot towards the Throne of Indonesia. Jakarta controls permits for lands, companies, and many facilities that

continue to contribute revenue. Plus, its very large population and strong economy makes it important to be controlled by politicians as leverage over the central government. Now let's take a look at the current Jakarta roster. First choice, we have Rwan Kamil and Suono. Both are

backed by the strongest parties in Jakarta. Ran is part of the faction that controls the central government. Both are seen as outsiders, since Ridwan is from West Java and Suono is too Islamic. They aren't close with the grassroots nor the working class, though the second choice

Is dhu'un and kardana, they are both independent candidates, which is a breath of fresh air in Indonesian politics. Both represent fresh choices free from political parties. Dhu'un is a stark raving conspiracy maniac, they lack any sort of substance whatsoever. And finally, the third choice we

have, prono anung and Rano Karno. People see them as jakartans, they are widely loved by many middle-class and working-class people, and their political party is outside the central government. And prono is not familiar with electoral politics, so you see jakartans have free

choices, they can pick now. The next part I will discuss my thoughts and observations regarding each of these candidates. Bear in mind, most of my observations are purely a product of my intuition and assumption, so do not take everything I say at face value. Ran kam and Susana is a tricky one politically.

They are the clearest choices. Ran kamu is part of Goar and is part of Pao's campaign team, having a clear access to Prao and Suono represents the most active political party in Jakarta with the strongest grassroots one can imagine. A strong Jakarta

government with both support from the central government and the grassroots. However, Ran Kam and Suwano face a plethora of hardships and obstacles. One, Ran Kam is seen as an outsider by Jakarta, and this does not help that he periodically used to insult or flame

Jakarta citizens on Twitter during his tenure as Bandung's mayor and West Javan Governor. So in terms of PR, Ran kamill doesn't have a strong grassroots support, he's not a jakartan, he used to bully jakartans, and he isn't even part of the

central government that is always in Jakarta. He relies on people like Prabowo Dasco and Erick Thohir for manpower and technical support. It's like he isn't getting any support from Golkar, his actual party. Maybe something is going on between them, who knows. Susono on the

other hand, isn't a charismatic member of the Prosperous Justice Party, and so that means he doesn't have his own mass of following. And at the start of the campaign, none of the party branches actually wanted to help out their campaign. So he had to manually start

them running. And unlike the charming Ridwan Kamil, that is a master at the craft of yapping eloquently, Susono resorts to boomer-coded, widow [Music] jokes. And seeing this condition, it's easy to speculate that Lian C is only

seen as an instrument by Pao's coalition to secure Jakarta and make the transition to Nusantara easier, as well as to compound any interest of the coalition in the region. It doesn't seem like Ridwan Kamil is interested in the race as well.

And this is reflected on how half-assed some of his programs are, like quote-unquote "mobile chat program." Which is a program where people seeking mental health are packed inside a car with a religious figure and a therapist, and they're free to confess or tell

everything there. Like, how do we know the car isn't bugged or wiretapped whenever we want to confess something dark and dang? Despite this, Ridwan Kamil started off strong in the polls, but recently his electability has decreased and he's under threat of losing this election to

Pronto Anu, but anyways, Ran Kam is the choice for you if you want Mega mental help and less infighting between regional and central governments. Now on to Pronto Anong and Rano Carno. Pronto is the opposition choice against, obviously, Ran Kam. At least, that's what they want

you to think. In actuality, Pronto is a deer amongst the Indonesian political elite. His candidacy was the result of Megawati compromising with Jokowi and Prabowo to not push Anies as governor of Jakarta. So, Pronto was the compromise choice.

Politically speaking, Pronto is the most secure position, but what Ran Kamil has that he lacks is that Pronto is an old figure becoming a new player. Pronto isn't a media darling like Ran Kam. So, if anything, Pronto has to race the media

game more intensely, and Ran Kamil and luckily, Pronto gets a boost in the form of his Deputy Rano Carno. Rano Carno has always been suggested as government, but for whatever reason, he did not win the tickets in the previous years. Rano Carno

has the image branding that Pronto lacks: a BWI Everyman, which stems from his experience in acting as BWI icon Bang Dul in a series between the 1970s to the 1990s. So, in a nutshell, their pairing is the most relatable pairing in Jakarta.

The two represent the largest population and native ethnic group of Jakarta, and both exude an every man image, making them incredibly appealing to middle and lower class that North Jakarta and East Jakarta is primarily composed of. This runs in contrast with Ran Kamil, who is

popular in the upper class South Jakarta society, though his programs are a bit different than Ran Kamil, and it reflects Prono's more bureaucratic, known nonsense background. Prono plans on turning Jakarta into a quasi police state like China by installing CCTVs everywhere, say

goodbye to snuggling and late-night rev. VI. You're not going to have any of that. This plan of his surely does raise some eyebrows, but of course he is committed to pushing Jakarta forward and cooperating with the central government through his programs such as the

citywide Wi-Fi and free breakfast program that supports Pao's free lunch programs. It compliments it. Prono is definitely the pick if you want to be opposition light. Well, if you don't like Ran Kamil or if you want to pretend you're against the Indonesian oligarchy,

pick Prono. Lastly, we have Dharma Pong Ron and Kun Wardana. Now, Dharma Pong Ron is super unique. This guy is something else. If you choose Ritan Kam Prono, Jakarta is basically going to be the same for the next 5 years. But if you

choose Dharma Pong Ron, Jakarta will be glorious. The Dharma introduces truly innovative policies and programs that he believes will solve Jakarta's problems. Jakarta's traffic jam problem has been an issue since 2008, and with Dharma Pong

Ron, he will take out the source of this issue: traffic lights. Dharma believes that a Jakarta without traffic lights is a Jakarta that will have no traffic jam at all because everyone would obviously be too scared to go to traffic since there are no traffic lights, thus reducing traffic.

Quantity wow what a program Why hasn't anyone thought of this yet This is an insanely nutty proposition Holy he's got a revolutionize how Indonesian urban engineering builds cities Not stopping there Dharma Pong Raccoon pledges to build new underpasses in a matter of 7

days Clearly he's been taking notes from the Quran about how the world was created in seven days This is something else ladies and gentlemen Dharma Pong Raccoon's programs are mindblowing because they really do This is something else Dharma Pong

Raccoon's programs are obviously mindblowing because they really do blow your mind on how out of the box they are This man is basically the Indonesian Vivek Ramaswamy anyways politically speaking this man was set up for a fall Dharma Pong

Raccoon is a notorious conspiracy theorist and utter nut job He believed that COVID-19 was a false flag operation perpetrated by the global elites to control the world population which could probably be true and plausible Maybe they're gaslighting us

and said cell phones cause cancer They don't but they do cause brain rot [Music] Though out he was clearly only set up as a candidate to make Ridwan Kamil look good on paper and have voters flock towards Ridwan Kamil However the

Constitutional Court's ruling managed to create a condition where the Struggle Party can push their own candidate So basically Dharma is sidelined and at this point it's a battle between Prono and Ridwan Kamil Unless if Tori Kaizoku can get

this guy to party I don't think Dharma has any chances of winning this race so he needs to go there choose Dharma pong raccoon if you want to throw the game and just have fun so far the competition between the three is peaceful unlike the Jakarta

governor race back in [Music] 2017 but the condition is pretty scuffed and interesting the self-proclaimed sock Dems the Indonesian s it party that are notorious for having a leadership dominated by non-muslims and non-natives

are allied with the hardcore Islamic party the Prosperous Justice party and also the extreme Muslims in supporting Ridwan Kamil which is weird considering they were both at each other's throats for being equally racist and discriminatory the Hardline pluralist supporters of previous governor Ahok and

his nativist campaign rival also previous governor Anies join hands since both got absolutely by the central government so when someone screams polarization you got to double check since there is literally no ideological divide on both sides sock Dems with fanatical Muslims a Hawkers

with Anies yes but if we want to talk about the chances of winning then it seems that through all this struggle Prono is slowly climbing to the top Prono is currently dominating the social media game against Ridwan Kamil and Dharma pong Ron how is he winning even though

Ridwan Kamil started first well Prono has the initiative to address the issue of environment sanitation and traffic all three are issues that most Jakartans are primarily concerned about which won him the support of many Jakarta based content creators so far Prono has

appeared with different content creators ranging from a content with controversial stand-up comedian Chi par, and then appearing on the SJW Malaka podcast and pledging his commitment to deal with pollution with resident hypeman, Andova Lopez, and to top it all

off, Prono sat down with Anies Baswedan in a highly publicized move to garner more votes, but of course, Rwan Kam is no slouch either. Rwan Kam has successfully secured the support of many central government figures such as RZA Patria Sufi

and Eric Tohir. As such, many of the probable coalition resources are being put to use to bolster Rwan Kamil's campaign. Though in social media, Rwan Kamil seems to be losing the game with many of his blunders and errors being publicized to mitigate and finally

cement his legitimacy. Itan Cam summoned previous president Joko Widodo to counter Prono's move of having Anies on board. Surely, with the previous president declaring his support for Rwan Kamil, things will go easy, right? Now, let's consider the fact that Anies is a more

important figure in Jakarta than Jokowi is due to his more recent governorship, and while Jokowi at this point is a national figure, he hasn't been around Jakarta that much this past five years. Even Anies in his bid to become president managed to

secure a majority of voters from Jakarta. So the question is, will Jokowi be able to dent Prono's campaign? We'll see later on. Right now, what we should understand is that in the Jakarta race, no matter who wins, Joko and Prano will win regardless.

Party's headquarters in Central Java if the Struggle Party loses Central Java things would probably be J for megati so remember when you think you're actually making a change by voting for someone who is against the government you're actually not cuz the trick is to
