Fasting doesn't mean you have to endure it all the time, and it doesn't have to be for a long time. Even skipping just one meal is okay. Short fasts like this can be beneficial to your health because they activate autophagy. When you do autophagy fasting, as energy decreases, our body starts breaking down old and damaged cells and recycles them. In other words, it eliminates the old and creates new ones. During this process, various waste materials that can cause various diseases, like toxins and junk, all these things...

Removing and not only dieting but also helping with various diseases such as cancer, Parkinson's, and neurological disorders, a phenomenon occurs. For this autophagy to start becoming active, at least about 15 hours of fasting time is needed, so the easiest approach is to use the 16/8 intermittent fasting method, fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours, which is not a big burden in daily life. Of course, if you want to activate autophagy faster and better, you can extend the fasting time a bit or the 5:2 fasting method of eating for 5 days and fasting for 2 days is also a good method. However, the longer the fasting time, the more likely our usual nutritional supplements will overlap with the fasting time. Intermittent fasting can also be broken. First, there are nutritional supplements that should not be eaten during fasting. The first type is jelly-type supplements such as vitamin C and vitamin D, which come in quite a variety of ingredients. If it tastes good, it means there is sugar or additives inside, which can stimulate insulin secretion and interfere with our desired goals. The second is powdered probiotics. You should also check the ingredients carefully. Many ingredients that break the fast are included in the raw materials like glucose, syrup, sucrose, corn syrup, and maltodextrin. While the probiotics themselves may not be a problem, probiotic products that are melted in the mouth and flavored may contain sugar, breaking the fast. However, among probiotic products, those in capsule form have almost no additives, so even if taken on an empty stomach, the chances of breaking the fast are low.

It's very low, so for those who take probiotics, it's essential to check what additives are in the probiotic products and it's recommended to consume them. Third, it's a protein supplement. Protein supplement. Oh, this one is fine because it's protein. You might think like this, but even if there is no sugar, protein itself can break the fast. When protein comes in, energy is supplied, so of course, the fast will be broken. In fact, protein also stimulates insulin secretion. Therefore, protein intake should not be done on an empty stomach. Fourth is Omega-3. Omega-3 fatty acids can also be used as energy sources, and Omega-3 products have calories, so they can interfere with fasting. Also, Omega-3 should be consumed with food to improve absorption.

It is better not to eat during fasting times. So, when fasting, can you not take supplements at all? In fact, the most commonly consumed vitamins like vitamin B group and vitamin C are not a big issue. However, it could be a problem if there is no sugar or additives for a year. Of course, in some cases, calorie restriction can also be a situation of oxidative stress in the body. Some opinions suggest that if vitamin C or some antioxidants are included, it could interfere with autophagy. When exercising or experiencing oxidative stress due to toxins or inflammation, oxidative stress that occurs in the body follows slightly different metabolic pathways. In other words, the outcomes are also different. Oxidative stress from exercise does not overly increase muscle mass, while oxidative stress caused by inflammation or disease results in a decrease in muscle mass. In conclusion, our bodies undergo various chemical reactions depending on the oxidative stress, which we may not fully understand.

It can vary, so it is difficult to conclude that antioxidants definitely interfere with autophagy. Anyway, if it is not necessary to take it during the time of intermittent fasting, taking Vitamin B or Vitamin C after a meal at mealtime is also a way. There is no need to insist on fasting time.
