Hey, today I want to talk about the Fujifilm GFX 100S II. This beast that was announced recently from Fujifilm, a new medium format camera. And um, I just want to touch base a little bit on the things that they did compared to the 100 II.

Because it can be a little bit confusing. But basically what they did is they took the 100 II and they streamlined it. They removed some of the features and options to make it a more affordable version, a little bit smaller, a little bit lighter, um, that can appeal to some photographers.

That don't need to have everything that the 100 II proposes. One thing that did not change is the size of the sensor and the megapixel count. Obviously, we're at 102 megapixels, which is plenty enough to do pretty much anything, be it landscape.

Be it portrait or any type of event that you want to shoot with this camera, uh, you're going to have enough to crop in a lot. Now, the differences between this camera and the 100 II, the first thing is the viewfinder. The viewfinder is smaller.

Uh, the magnification is a little different. We're talking 0.86 versus 0.84 for this new camera, so it's a tiny little difference, but it is a little bit less magnified. The continuous shooting mode allows you to shoot 7 frames per

second as compared to 8 frames per second for the 100 II, which is only one frame difference. For those that need that extra frame, it's there. And otherwise, you can take this option. The frames you can shoot with a single charge, so battery life-wise, it is a

little bit less and when I say a little bit less I'm talking 10 frames less uh so you can shoot up to 530 instead of 540 for the 100s which to some means absolutely nothing to me it means absolutely nothing because I don't

normally kill the battery when I take photos I try to get down to around 20% and I swap it for a fresh new so to most people that's not going to be a big deal but it's a difference let's not talk viewfinder because that's a bigger

difference than the rest of the things that I'm going to tell you in this review um it is now 5.76 million dots as compared to 9.44 so it is almost half the resolution of the other viewfinder that you find on the GFX

100s it's not a big deal by all means I did not notice that much of a difference to be honest but um some of you might find a difference and also there's the fact that you can't put the tilting uh viewfinder you know the one

that you can look from above uh like you would do with for example roif Flex or older CER medium formats and so forth so that is something to keep in mind some of you need it some of you don't it's a nice to have for me at least another

difference is the maximum resolution when you're shooting video with this uh S2 you can shoot up to 4K with the 100s you can shoot up to 8K now do you need that extra resolution that's up to you I personally don't but people that want to

shoot up to 8K in video, you'll have to take the bigger version. There is no full-size HDMI port, that's a pity because I shoot video and I like to be able to, you know, plug an external monitor on a full-size HDMI. I don't like

to use any other type of HDMI ports, but that's how it is. And the other thing is that there's no ethernet port on this uh S2, so you will have to get a bigger model if you want to have that port. Let's talk weight. The weight is

different on this camera. It weighs 147g less than the GFX 100s, which to some is not a lot, but it is still a difference. We're talking um 1 kilo 30g compared to 883g for this one. I personally noticed the difference, but not just in weight

but also in size. In fact, the size is different too. We are talking 150mm compared to 152mm, 104 compared to 117, and 87 compared to 99mm. So the whole entire package became smaller. Uh, they managed to shave off some of, you know,

the extra millimeters on the sides uh to make it a more compact camera than it was with the 100s. There is AI tracking on this camera like we've seen on all other Fuji cameras that came out, such as for example, animals, trains, cars, planes and

so forth. Um, that is not something I use for what I do for my type of work, but if you work for example in, I don't know, Formula One uh filming, or if you shoot animals or wildlife or whatnot, you might want to use those features and they're

very good to have it has the same bishamon tax finishing uh on the sides of this camera which I think looks very very good um it gives it an extra you know premium look and feel the ibis goes up to eight stops and five axes so

it is a very good ibis you can shoot handheld up to one quarter of a second roughly that's what I've tested so far um without too many problems I mean you have to be stable but it will allow you to do so they did include obviously the

real a ace film simulation which became one of my favorites along with classic Chrome um and in fact all my photos that I shot with jpeg have been shot with real Ace they came back to the two SD cards designed for this camera which to me is a blessing to some is a curse uh

if you're going to be shooting video the the2 allows up to 8K so it's good to have a CF Express card uh to put inside but in my case personally when I shoot for example weddings or events I like to be able to have just my regular SD cards

have them as a backup so in case anything goes wrong I have a backup of my photos and I'll have to fiddle around buying a lot of CF Express cards that do cost more than SD cards sure they're better they're faster and everything you

know you want but it is also true that they're more expensive quite more expensive let's now talk about the price which is a major point in this com review or comparison of this new camera um the GFX 100s II costs between 6500 and

7K depending where you buy, at least here in Switzerland. And this one uh will cost between 4,800 and 5,000 bucks, so it's a difference of around $2,000 uh which will allow you in turn to buy yourself an extra lens or you

know, extra accessories or just save it for something else. So if you don't need all the extra features that the X1002 gives you, I would definitely give a look at this X100S2, that to me is a very good successor of the other camera um

and it will open the door to having more people shoot GFX medium formats because the price, it's actually very good. It's a it's a price that you can afford I think um and that provides an excellent quality uh of photos. If you have any questions, like always, write down in the
