Hi everyone, it's Julie. Just a quick post, a quick video about what we were chatting about earlier on the feed. Why is it we feel so guilty when our animals die? Perhaps it's because we ended up having them put down and could we have done more? Could you

have waited longer? Perhaps you waited too long and you worried that perhaps your lovely pet was in pain and you kept him because you wanted him to be alive. Perhaps you feel guilty because somehow your animal got out and there is a terrible accident and you know what if

this what if, that what if you could have done something differently? I've even had clients that say they feel guilty because they miss their animals or their pets more than their near relative, perhaps a grandparent or an aunt or uncle. And when I speak to them and I ask them

how often did you see that relative? And they say, 'Oh well, you know, maybe once a month, something like that.' But their animals, their pets, they were there with them every day, all day, perhaps sleeping on the bed, all sorts of times, good times, bad times. They relate to

having that pet with them, and perhaps they didn't have that experience with the relatives. So it's natural that you're going to miss your pet more, and it's nothing to feel guilty about. If your pet was surrounded by love and you believe you did the best you could

at the time, in the circumstances that were happening then and there, you have nothing to be guilty about. Your pet would have known how much you loved them. They would have known. I've even had clients that say well, they feel guilty because when they took them to the vets for the last time

The pet looked up at them and trusted them, and they went in with the vet to the vet's, knowing that their pet wasn't going to come out with them again. And they felt like they deceived their animal, but then on the other hand, I've had

people that felt guilty because they didn't go in with their animal and left them at the last moments all on their own. Again, you do what you think is best at the time. As long as you did it out of love, you have absolutely no reason to feel guilty.

Unresolved grief can lead to terrible things in your own life. It can lead to stuffing down your feelings with food or washing them down with wine, or insomnia, or snapping and getting angry at people, just like any other kind of grief. Be kind to yourself. As long as you did
