Many people studying English conversation meet with native speakers to have conversations or do phone calls, but now they can practice conversation much more cheaply. First of all, there is no usage fee. This has recently become free, so of course, you can upgrade to use a better version. However, today I have prepared a video on how anyone can use the free version, so please come in without worries. Today, we will discuss how to practice with PT and movies, along with related commands and prompts. I plan to divide this into three levels, so please stay focused until the end of the video. As you all know, since it was first introduced and has been in the news a lot, everyone is aware that ChatGPT typically communicates through text.

It was basic, and of course, at that time, I checked English grammar as well. It was incredibly useful when he needed help with writing long texts, but now we also have speech recognition features. Why is this good? It's good because you can have a comfortable conversation with the AI, just like talking to someone sitting next to you. There are many advantages to this, but let me mention just three. First, you can set up the situation you want, like a friend, family member, or English teacher, and have conversations accordingly. This is a huge benefit. If you want to practice business English, you can set the other person as your boss. And if you're in your 40s and want to chat with friends of the same age, you can set it up as a friend in their 40s. Another advantage is that you can do this anytime, anywhere.

You can even do it while walking. There might be people who didn't schedule calls with owner Min because it was bothersome, but this can be used entirely according to my schedule and convenience. Lastly, usually, I felt this way too, but when I was doing phone English, even though I was trying to learn and had made a payment, I felt a bit embarrassed to speak confidently. Was it just me? If I thought something was wrong, I hesitated to speak and would question every little thing, asking if it was correct or how to say it. I found that quite uncomfortable. However, since this is not a conversation with a real person, I don't feel embarrassed at all. On the contrary, it’s nice to be able to ask questions comfortably about things that seem strange, awkward, or incorrect. And really, really finally, this is truly the best.

Even if it’s not a typical English conversation academy, most speaking or language schools often suggest recording what you say and listening to it. This is because, through that process, you can identify any pronunciation issues and see where you need to improve. In a similar context, it would be ideal to record myself speaking, but for now, what I said will be transcribed right away, so you can check the text first. After you enter, you will search for something in either Korean or English. You will find a lot of options here, and there is a variety of them. They look somewhat similar, which can be a bit confusing, but you need to select the one made by OpenAI. Do you see it? When you click on it, you will see Install here. After installing it and entering the app, a screen like this will appear. You can either sign up for a new account or log in with your existing ID. This part is simple, so I’ll move on quickly. Once you log in, a screen like this will appear, and you need to click on the two horizontal lines at the top left. When the profile option appears, there will be an icon with three dots next to it. Click on that, and if you scroll down, you will see Main written there. You will need to click on Auto Detect. It should be set to that by default, so you probably don’t need to change it, but if it’s set to another language…

Then you can switch to auto mode. The reason is that it recognizes both Korean and English. Isn't that amazing? Next, you can select the PT voice from the voice icon above. Let's give it a listen. I have chosen Jupiter, but you can choose whatever you like. Now, if we return to the chat window, you can see the headset icon at the bottom right. When you click this icon, the voice conversation will start. I will present three prompts based on different levels. You should try to find the prompt that best matches your level. First, let me show you level one, which is for complete beginners. You will speak in Korean, and the PT will respond in English. So, I have structured the command accordingly. Take a look and start with the headset button at the bottom right.

I will do it, and this applies to all the prompts I will share with you in the future. I wrote it in detail, so it’s a bit long, but you can start applying it just by looking at what I send. Right now, I'm talking with a friend at a café who has just moved in. First, I defined the situation and the other person. Can you play the role of that friend? Your name is Grace, and you are a 22-year-old college student. I’ve defined the characteristics of the other person like this, so we can have a more refined conversation, right? We are meeting for the first time today and need to introduce ourselves. I will try to use the expressions I know in English, but if I come across expressions I don't know, I will say them in Korean. I’m now going to speak in Korean. You should continue to speak only in English. And when I speak in Korean, please translate that expression into English and ask me to repeat after you.

Let me explain this expression in detail below. I will demonstrate it at an intermediate level. I will show you how to mix English and Korean at the intermediate level. I provided some scenarios, and we will practice it together. I am the customer, and I will say, I would like KPT, please. 

In response, I might say, English for practice. I might have to use Korean if I don't know English. I mentioned that I might use Korean, and when I do, it often leads to misunderstandings. However, if I repeat what I said or keep my sentences short, those issues will decrease.

Now, we are in a situation where I am ordering a chicken burger, and I've reached the point of choosing a sauce. I might say, May I have one crispy chicken deluxe with mayo and anything to drink? 

The response would be, What kind of drinks do you have? I would reply, We have soda, Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, iced tea, and water. What would you like to drink with your crispy chicken deluxe? 

It was too fast, and I couldn't catch it all, so I asked them to repeat it. As you all know, when we practice together, it helps us improve our communication.

The situations will all be different, and how they unfold will also vary. Because of that, there are a few expressions you might need when the presentation goes strangely or when you want to say something in Korean. One of them is, as I just mentioned, Please speak slowly. In English, you can say, Speak slowly. If there are more expressions, I will let you know later. You can also say in the middle of speaking English, Can you say that in Korean? For example, Are you going to order the Crispy Chicken Deluxe Sandwich? What drink would you like? You can ask what drinks are available in Korean. Of course, we have soda, cola, Pepsi, Sprite, and iced tea. You can also ask for water. There are a few expressions you should know. If you want someone to repeat something, you can say, I didn't catch that. Can you say it again? or Sorry, could you please say that again? And slowly, as well.

I told you earlier, right? The third point is to translate it into Korean. The fourth point is a situation where the conversation topics have run out, and I’m asking you for conversation topics. So, you can ask, Can you give me an example situation? or Can you give me a topic to practice? The fifth point is when the speaker gives too many sentences at once, and I don’t understand. In that case, I might ask them to say it one sentence at a time. I would say, Please say it one sentence at a time. Lastly, if there are two or more questions at once, I would ask them to ask one question at a time. I would say, Please ask one question. Do you understand? 

Finally, when having a conversation in the highest level of English, the content is quite similar to what we've discussed so far, just with a slight change in direction. Please check the pinned comment. I showed you how to have a conversation with ChatGPT. When using the free version, it seems that after about 20 minutes, the amount you can send is limited. It will say that you've reached the limit, so you can't continue the conversation. However, if you wait for an hour or two, you can use it again. So, I think it would be good to split your usage into 20 minutes a day. Also, there are times when the flow of conversation gets interrupted. For example, when I was having a casual chat with ChatGPT and asked, How are your parents? it replied, Thanks for asking, well, my coding parents are doing fine. There’s no family drama in the digital world. This was a bit surprising. In a way, it was a clever response, but we are trying to lay the foundation and start with the basics.

Making jokes like this might make some people uncomfortable, and that is a downside. However, I want to emphasize that it has truly become very convenient to use. I explained a lot today, but if you make it a habit and practice regularly, I can’t say it will be perfect, but I can assure you it will definitely improve.
