Hi, my name is Thomas, and today we're going to have a second close look at the TT Artisan 25 millimeter F2 lens. This one, and I brought the 23 millimeter F 1.4 as well, so we're going to compare these two

lenses. Which one is the better buy in terms of sharpness, bokeh, and background blur, and price and performance? Let's have a go. [Music] I'm not going to tell you a lot about handling and finish of these lenses because they're essentially the same.

They're both TT Artisan. They both have the clicked aperture. They both have the adjustable hard stop at infinity. I'm going to do a separate video about that, and they just feel the same. Just the 23 of 1.4 is a little bit bigger and has this

chrome finish, the zebra finish around the focus ring, but you can also have a black version of the 23 of 1.4. So essentially, you're looking at the same quality, the same feeling here. [Music] [Music] [Music]

And said, by the way, and they are very famous German comedian from the 1950s and 60s. Super funny. Did a lot of movies and poems even. [Music] Let's try again. I'm taking a picture of these beautiful yellow flowers at 0.3

meters with both lenses. 0.3 meters on this and look for a good composition. [Music] 0.3 meters on the 23 of 1.4. [Music] [Music] So bokeh, as you see, whatever I'm trying

the bokeh looks very similar and actually the 25 F2 it shows a lot of background blur given that it's only an F2 lens I would call it a draw [Music] remember I already did a comparison review with the 23 F 1.4 and back then

I compared it to the Kamlan 21 F 1.8 and the Sunlite 22 F 1.8 and back then this lens really showed a lot more background blur than the other two so I'm not really sure what's going on here maybe

this 25 F2 maybe it's a little bit more than F2 in reality or something like that or this is just a little bit less than 1.4 [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] by the way I adjusted the infinity mark

stop on both of these lenses so when I put it on 0.5 it's really more or less a 0.5 these scales are pretty accurate I mean they're not accurate for one centimeter but maybe two or three centimeters should be within the range

of accuracy foreign quality have a look at these shots by the way I did already reviews of both lenses here is the review for the 23 F 1.4 came out in 2021 and here we've got the review for the 25 F2 uh the new one

[Music] thank you [Music] foreign foreign [Music] image quality if you take landscape shots overall the 25 does a better job it's more sharp towards the borders of your frame only the four extreme corners are always a little bit unsharp with a

23 of 1.4 you've got the problem that there is some weird field curvature the mid frame of the shots always is a little bit untrapped unless you're really close down to f8 so overall the 25 F2 is the lens with a better image

quality [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] Distortion compare Distortion the distance is about 3 meters [Music] foreign [Music] Distortion and maybe plus four or plus six and Lightroom will cure it no big difference between these

two lenses in terms of distortion [Music] I found a house here we're gonna take a shot with both lenses that also gives us a chance to check out how it's actually the image brightness how much is the difference in terms of light gathering power between the 1.4 and the F2

[Music] okay this is the shot with the 25 this is the one with the 23 you see here is a piece of a window that misses here a small difference in field of view now the fun fact is I took both of these with open aperture so F2 here and it

gave me one over 280 of a second and this one F 1.4 gave me one 340th over a second so the difference is maybe a third f-stop not more [Music] all right oh one thing aperture starts the 23 of

1.4 has got the classic TT Artisan 10 bladed aperture makes for 10 pointed Sun stars in your night shots and the new 25 F2 has a seven bladed aperture makes for 14 pointed Sun stars there is no better or worse there just keep in mind there

is a difference in how your sun cells are going to look in your night shots [Music] [Music] [Music] so um image quality the 25 millimeter F2 wins bokeh it's a draw but the 23 has a little bit more field of view it's the

wider length so I maybe give the nod to the 23 because we know the wider a lens the more complex it is to get the same amount of background blur so slight Advantage maybe for the 23. um image brightness light Gathering Power there is a small small difference

but the 23 yes you get about one third of an f-stop more in terms of low light sometimes it can help and price performance that's the last one well this one brand new 64 dollars uh the official retail price for the 23 is I

think around 130 dollars so it's twice the price um I know you can get this a little bit cheaper these days because this is the lens that came out one year ago and this is so brand brand new on the market uh you also can shop around use for these

lenses but if you compare the new prices price performance the 25 wins of course it's half the price so overall verdict it's hard for me to recommend the 23 still in because the 25 does the same job even a little bit better image

quality the difference in field of view is very small and you get it for 64 dollars what else can I say but in case you already have the 23 I don't see the real need to change to get to 25 then don't buy too many lenses you know if
