Yet, biodiversity is declining at an unprecedented rate. In just 50 years, wildlife populations have declined by nearly 70%,

leaving many vital ecosystems unmonitored and vulnerable. So much can be done to protect our natural resources

with high-quality data, but much of the Earth is unmonitored, and the data is limited.

To overcome this challenge, we are introducing Project Sparrow, an open-source platform designed to revolutionize

biodiversity monitoring in the most remote and inhospitable regions. Harnessing AI and satellite communication

to transmit only critical information, it acquires live data from ecological hotspots, minimizing the need for constant oversight

while providing real-time insights to protect important ecosystems. From heavy Amazon rainfall to searing desert heat,

its robust and rugged design allows it to thrive in remote areas where traditional monitoring systems often fail. Solar-powered and equipped with

low-power AI on-edge GPU processing, it can autonomously capture real-time images and sounds, providing crucial data on

species presence and behavior. Developed by the AI for Good Lab in collaboration with our partners, Sparrow empowers conservationists worldwide

to adopt and scale its use. And by making this technology freely accessible, we are ensuring organizations of all sizes

can deploy cutting-edge technology. Sparrow is a breakthrough in conservation technologies, setting a new standard for the field.
