there's going to be a swing time big band there too and live music. Drew says 8:30 still bright. We'll see. I think I've seen him launch as late as nine o'clock before. We do have some time until the fireworks start, a lot of time actually. Joe Hernandez, Jadez, are the fireworks in the park or on the river? Um, I've seen these fireworks many times. It's a well-known neighborhood celebration right before the July 4th official Macy's fireworks, and I usually see them launch from Randall's Island, but you don't want to be there. No, I think just fireworks. I'm just going to walk by the area where the fireworks are supposed to launch and then maybe I'll hang out for a little bit because we don't want to miss any of the action.

The things with live streaming is um, it's really hard to judge where you're going to be and if the internet signal is going to be strong enough. A live stream may not even work because there's so many people using data in the same place. But right now, I'm planning to record the fireworks in some way or um, some way or another. You know what I'll do? I'll uh, I'll take a picture of this, send it to my other phone, and then put it up so people know what the fireworks are for. Might be good for people to know. [Music] Oftentimes, I find this fireworks celebration happening in Astoria Park, Queens, to be better than the one that's hosted by Macy's. Because the Macy's one, you have to contend with a lot of crowds. Everybody knows about it. You have to wait, and it may not be in the same location all the time, where it'll be far away, like you'll see it from a rooftop or

you'll go by the water, and something's obstructing your view over here. You got a great view of the fireworks, and it's like right up in your face. Yeah, Gigi, you normally see the Astoria fireworks from our rooftop. They start at 9 PM-ish. That's usually what time they start. I found, you know what I'll do, because a lot of people are asking about the fireworks event. I'll put a link to the official page on a pinned message so people could click on it. That way, people are like, Where the fireworks? It says there's fireworks on the title, but there's no fireworks, and that's because it didn't start yet. So, uh, let me address that first live chat. The pool's there, but there's no water, and it's not open. And over here, you can buy water guns if you want, and these reversible octopuses that are like really famous now. I think it had to do something with like it was as treacherous to traverse as Hell's Gate. Maybe that was a quote why it's called Hellscape, but let me look it up. Hell Gates, let's look up the etymology on it. Etymology, okay, so here is why it's called the Hell Gates. [Music] The name Hellgate is a corruption of the Dutch phrase helicopts. It first appeared on a Dutch map as

hella got the name was originally applied to the entire of the east river by Dutch explorer Adrian Block. The name hellegot was in turn taken from Greek hella spots, which has a dangerous reputation. Alternately, the name could be construed to meaning a bright straight or clear opening because explorers found navigation hazardous in this new world place of rocks and converging tide-driven currents and lesser channels, some which have been filled. The angularization stuck. The strait was also known as hurl gates. My gosh, so interesting name hell gates, hurl gates, helicopters. There's a plaque dedicated to the General Slocum disaster along Shore Boulevard. Rough currents sunk a lot of the ships around here, the General Slocum being one of them, and it was carrying a large majority of

You see, everyone gathers there on the great lawn, but the fireworks happen just behind me. That's One Vanderbilt and the City Corp Tower, which is that one over there. That one here, that's a City Court Building, and that's One Vanderbilt, and that's Shore Towers in Astoria. Robert, you think they'll halt fire service during the fireworks? That's true. Laurie's asking me if I've already announced the purpose for my trip to Fort Wayne. No, I haven't yet, but I could reveal why I went to Fort Wayne now. I went there because my brother was getting married. I went there for a wedding, so I went with my family. My friends went out to Fort Wayne and enjoyed it. It was a very nice wedding, and we had a lot of fun, and that's why I couldn't really travel.

anywhere else. I had to be in Fort Wayne for the wedding. Everyone's saying congratulations. Welcome. I've shown my brother on my channel before too. He's the chasing shinster, also the weak fingers YouTube channel. We did a few videos together when I was up in Massachusetts. What made them choose Indiana? Well, he met her at Indiana. That's where her family is. And plus, it's in the middle of the country pretty much, so it's a lot easier for members of both families to come to Indiana rather than have it like New York because the people from Indiana honestly were not going to go out to New York for the wedding. So, Indiana was a better choice for the veg. Best choice actually. But it also gave me an opportunity to explore Fort Wayne, which was a really nice city. Yeah, snow dog money had to do with it too. It was cheaper to have it hosted in Indiana compared to Boston or New York City. It's uh 8:40 PM now.

So about 20 minutes until the fire whips start. Well, I assume they start at nine. I would prefer for the sun to cool down a lot more. It's still very light in the sky. Oh wow, the jet skis have lights on the bottom now. That's a really neat feature. A story of fire. So you were hoping I was going to stream this. I like these fireworks better than Macy's sometimes because you get right up close to it. There's plenty of space for people. It's not too crowded, and it's just beautiful. giving my genuine reaction to the fireworks because this camera is going to be recording, and it'll be kind of weird to hear me reply to chat messages on that video. Also, there is that possibility that I disconnect because the connection here isn't really strong to begin with, and if a lot of people use the data, then this live stream is not going to be able to be stable. It's a good view over there too, but nothing over here is much better. Over there on the pedestrian walkway, it still seems kind of far. You really need like a zoom lens to see it, but where we are right here, there's a better view. But it's not bad from up on the bridge itself.
