So I'm going to start in a place that might seem non-obvious, especially since we're talking about entrepreneurship, building your business, and launching your online business. And that's with this idea that your relationship to your thoughts is probably the most important relationship that you'll have. So over these 25 years since I first started in business, since I first started my online business way back in 1996 when I was a stay-at-home dad, I barely had two nickels to rub together. I had nothing going on in my life. And from there, I've been able to build an online business and then have it taken away and then build another online business. And now, well, make a pretty big impact. My clients have done over a billion dollars in sales. I've done over a hundred million dollars in sales of my products. It's been a crazy ride. And I think one of the things that has allowed me

to get here, that has allowed me to reinvent and evolve myself over and over and over again. If you think of the way online business has changed since 1996, it's unbelievable. I think one of the key things that has allowed me to get here and allowed me to stay on top of the game, on top of my game is meditation. So I've mentioned this here and there in a few videos, but I haven't really talked about it very much. But I've been meditating now since 2001. It's been a long time. I've been meditating. And my practice has gone through many different evolutions and many different, well, it's like many different ways over the years, but right now it involves first thing in the morning, getting up and sitting on my front porch and having this experience of listening to some amazing soundscape of the birds and the insects and the wind rustling through the leaves.

And it's been beautiful
sitting on my front porch in the mornings. And I know one of the things
that holds people back is they either think about meditating, or they try it, and they stop because they think it's not for me. In fact, I was just visiting
a bunch of relatives, and one of 'em who's been
getting into mindfulness and thinking about these types of things. But I asked her, well, are you meditating? And my relative said, no, I'm not, because I have all these racing thoughts. I aspire. If I can keep on this sort of mindfulness and keep on reading about
this and thinking about it and focusing on it, that maybe I'll be able to meditate sometime. But right now, I have all
these racing thoughts. And if you're watching, that might be you, if you're watching this,
because entrepreneurs or people who want to
become entrepreneurs, by definition, we've got lots of thoughts. We've got a lot going on in our heads.

We're juggling a lot of different priorities. We're creators. And as creators, we absolutely have thoughts going through our head. So I think maybe it makes it harder for us to meditate. But what it also does is it creates a much bigger payoff because at the end of the day, as an entrepreneur, you get paid for the thoughts that go through your head. I mean, we get paid. That's how entrepreneurs get paid. We have thoughts, we think them through, then we go and we create them out in the world. And that creates value, and people pay us for that value. The end of the day, that's what entrepreneurs do. Is we think about things, we create things in our mind's eye, and then we go create them in the world. Which is why I love being an entrepreneur, I love being around entrepreneurs. But again, your relationship to your thoughts is your most important relationship.

especially as an entrepreneur. And I'm here to tell you
that having racing thoughts or having a lot of
thoughts does not stop you from becoming a meditator, but from developing a
great meditation practice or a good meditation practice. Having thoughts doesn't stop you. And having tried it and not being able to get through a meditation
without having your mind all over the place thinking about what you're going
to have for dinner, about whether you're going
to catch that traffic light, about something that someone said to you, about what's on your schedule,
about what you need to do, everyone who meditates has those things. We all have racing thoughts. With meditation, there are so many levels you can go through, level
after level after level. But what I'll tell you is
at the most basic level is when you drop in that you
start to develop the ability to notice when you're distracted, to notice when you have those thoughts,

and then coming back to your meditation. I know when I first started out, my goal was if I could
get through three breaths. Three breaths without having
my mind get distracted, then that was a great big win. It didn't happen that often,
every now and then it did. I felt great about it. You know what, I still have times where I can't go get through three breaths without being distracted. But the practice is coming back, is noticing that you're
distracted and coming back. And there are so many amazing benefits. And it's such a rich
journey to go down this path of meditation. But I'll tell you at its
most core, basic level. Again, as entrepreneurs, we
get paid for our thoughts, the thoughts that then
we create in the world. And when you spend those
few moments meditating, then I believe it creates
more productivity in your day because your thinking
process and your relationship

with those thoughts become higher quality. They just become better. You become less distracted. Another huge thing for entrepreneurs, another huge advantage is presence. Presence with other people,
presence with your audience, presence with your thoughts. And again, the way you
build that presence, the way you build that
relationship with your thoughts, the way you build your
ability to stay focused, I think the way to do
it is with meditation. So I just offer that to you. I don't talk about this very often but I think there's so many great reasons to meditate that go beyond business. But I also think it's something that is just a huge asset
if you're an entrepreneur. So don't let the idea that
you've got thoughts stop you, don't let the idea that you've got racing, you can't stay focused
dissuade you from meditating. This is a way to build your
core skills as an entrepreneur. So I'm Jeff Walker,
