The movement of so-called October 7th truthers alleges the Hamas massacre was a false flag operation,

that Israel was actually behind the atrocities against its own people,
to justify the attacks on Gaza.

Many allege this happened with the full support of the United States government, and this conspiracy theory is gaining traction online.

This is day 16 of your daily reminder that Israel, not Hamas, is responsible for the massacre of Israeli civilians.

On October 7th, 2023, Hamas's own documentation of the terror attacks, using

smartphones and GoPro cameras as they proudly chronicled their massacres, isn't enough to convince them.

Just search the term "false flag" on popular social media platforms like TikTok or Reddit.  You'll find comments like, "We're being told Hamas

broke through the border wall and are going around Israeli towns killing and kidnapping civilians."

This is so absolutely insane and impossible to believe. There's a 100% chance that Israel is behind all of this

and the world is a stage run by the Sons of Zion. Doesn't surprise me at all.

99%. It's a false flag to trigger World War Three." These comments are in a Reddit

forum called Late Stage Capitalism. It's a community of left-wing activists with almost a million members.

857,000, or eight thousand. But it's not relegated to online trolls hiding behind the anonymity of the internet.

This is Christina Gutierrez, a municipal worker in Oakland, California. During a city council meeting,

she stated: "There have been beheadings of babies and wrappings. Israel murdered their own people on October 7th."

That person is a city of Oakland government employee. We reached out to Ms. Gutierrez

to see if she'd like to somehow clear up her comments. We have not heard back.

But in addition to city employees at that Oakland City Council meeting, members of the public also got their chance to speak.

The notion that this was a massacre of Jews is a fabricated narrative. Many of those killed on October 7th, ma'am, your time is up,

including children, were killed by the IDF. I mean, it's really hard to believe.

So you literally have Hamas claiming responsibility here, right? It's not even a situation where they are denying

that they did it, and yet you still have this. I'm going to ask you if you're surprised,

but my guess is the answer is no. I'm not surprised because anti-Semitism has always appeared in a kind of bizarro world.

But we also know there's a cottage industry of trolls and others whose job it is to cast doubt on the tragedies

when they occur. From 9/11 to Sandy Hook to October 7th and everything in between.

The idea is that if you make people believe that what happened didn't happen, maybe they'll

be more susceptible to hatred and conspiracy theories. And a lot of this, as you know, is incubated in online spaces.
