So hello guys, welcome back. I've been requested this video so many times, so I've got a bit of time now, uh, during

this week that I'm doing. I said, you know what, let me try and do this video. So in

this video, what I'm going to do, I'm going to show you how I use a companion to control my SQ5 desk. Basically, I'm

going to show you all the shortcuts and the macros that I use. Unfortunately, um, my Stream Deck isn't with me,

but I can control the same functions from the web app without any problem. So let's jump straight into it, and I will

show you everything. Before everything, um, I'll show you that's the desk; that's how everything is set up, nice and easy. I've

got my laptop here, linked to my Go X5 um, and I'll show you in the back. So basically, the Go X5 goes in this uh,

switch. So at the moment, what I'm going to do is I want to do something easier for everyone; I'm going to go straight

to the network port on the back of my desk, as you can see. But you can easily go on a switcher if you want to go on

a switcher or anything without any problem. Now let's jump on my laptop, and if we open a

companion, you will see this window here. And what I'm going to say, I'm going to say that this is

the wired IP address that I'm going to use. So go here; I'm going to say launch; I'm going to launch the Big Fox

companion up in here. As you can see, I've got all my other connections that I normally use.

If you want to add a new one, basically, I don't want to add any because after I will need to do

everything from the beginning. But basically, if you go here on the left, on the right side, you can see all the desks you

Basically, click on "Art"; the desk will appear here. Basically, what you can do if you're

going to edit, you can put the target of your, um, desk. So in my case, if you go on "Utility",

So if you're going to set up—I'll show you here—so basically, if you're going to that

page, "Network Setup," you need the IP of your desk. So you're going to put the IP of your

desk in here: 192.168.1.1. Console type: SQ5. Just make sure that this is on "Linear

taper." So if you go on "Utility," you will see "General." You go on "MIDI." Just make sure that it is on "Linear

taper," two and one. Same thing on the laptop MIDI channel number one. Okay. Um, what I normally do, I use, um—I'm gonna

in this case, I'm gonna put number 38 as a talkback mic, uh, but you can use any channel you want.

Normally, it will be easy to do 48, but I've got stuff on these, so what I

have done, I put channel 38. And what I do when you go on your desk, okay, and you go on channel 38,

basically, is this one. I click on here, go on "Processing." When I need to assign who I'm gonna—I'm gonna say that I

want "Local Socket," okay, and I say that I wanna talk. So basically, the input of the talk is this one that you can see here.

Everything that's going to go on the—on the input, um, will happen—will be my talk mic. So here, that's level 61.

There we go. So now you will see that it says, okay. What I do, I go on "Button," go on the page that I want. This is the

one that I have already created, but if I go, let's say, in "Talkback," what happened—what this channel does is

Basically, here you can select all the actions this button will perform.

This is what happens when I unlatch the action; when the button is unlatched.  What I've done is basically this:

When I press the button, it needs to do the following: take the input from channel 38, activated on the left and right channels.

Then, I need to assign the channel to the mix; basically, assign channel 38 to aux 1.

Okay, and it needs to set the fader level to zero.  So, um, after you do this,

basically, you need to select channel 38 here in the mix, as well as the level.  So, the fader will go to 0dB, and you'll need to make sure the input is unmuted.

That's the older process, but I've added this to all of these, even the soft keys.  So, my soft key number 16, for example, needs to open and show you this because it's not set up.

If I go to the surface and go to soft control, let's say you want to use channel 8,

what I've done is to make a selection and select which mix; in this case,

let's say we've selected aux 1. Apply. So, if you see on the laptop here,

I change this and add soft key 8.  Basically, you need to remember that for the unlatch action,

you need to do the inverse; you need to make sure this is assigned to channel 3, number 1.  So this needs to be inactive,

Feed the channel level to mix. So basically, this will take the input of the channel on the mix one

on, on a minus infinite um, and after you will mute the mic and we'll press again at the soft key 8, so

we'll go back to the mix. So I'll show you now. Basically, if I do the wet button

and I go on this page. So if I press, can you say okay? Yeah. So if I press this,

basically the desk will recall the scene and activate channel 38. So if I press again, we go down and we mute the mic.

Press again, go up into there. So you can see here on the left, in here, if I press it,

so basically that's that's here and um, if we go back to here on the control on the bottom, you can do

any function you want to look in here. You will see that the button is still on and we will tell you that the button we can

change color. You can do anything you want to, basically. Um, and here, as you can see, I've got other

functions. So basically, I've got to talk to each person in the band. Um, I can even talk to all. So basically, in here I have

a different function. So I say, assign channel to the mix, which makes which channel another one. Assign what do one of the features will

do, and everything. And another page I've got also different room drum this year, sorry, where basically I

press on DCA and what was going to happen, it will, it will um, uh, do the DC

split spill. Basically, if you go on setup on the soft key here, you can see that this is spill. You do this, sorry.

And, and basically, he will do the spill. So why have I done this? You say you have got the soft key, okay? But the problem is a

Desk like this, I've got only an eight soft key, and if I want to do all the DC spill or

other kinds of things as I have done before, basically that I wanna call the Oaks and other stuff, I can't

because I don't ever have enough. So if you go in here on the browser, you can choose which kind of action. So if you're

gonna use it, you have all the different things that you can do. I don't know if you can see from my screen.

Yeah, okay. So in here you can see all the different functions that you can do. You can do fader level,

I don't know, feather effects; there are a lot of them. You can change scenes, uh, mute an input, mute the left and right

moves, anything you want to do. It basically... uh, this is a different macro that they've built, and you

literally press add, you press down bar. So I'll show you how, if you wanted a new button, just to show you.

So let's say that I go here, and the regular button pressing is a mute [Music]

mute box. Okay, so let's say, browser, sq, new input. I will say add, say here, check which one I want to mute.

Let's say number two. You can do on and off, or you can do toggle; it's up to you. But what I

normally do, I use a... I use the on and off button just to make sure that it works better.

And when you do the release action, you basically press in here, latch, and latch. Go here and do again, mute input,

channel number two, do off in here. And if I go on this and I go on here and on my desk I go on these...

So basically, now number two is muted already, but if I press again, you will see this muted in the music.

You can see from the laptop, so yeah, so basically that's uh, that's everything you need to do to
