On March 10th, 2023, Avero Beach High School teacher received a handwritten note concerning an 18-year-old sophomore student who was bragging about having a loaded gun in the classroom. The teacher immediately notified the on-campus Deputy, who eventually called for backup. Where's the backpack? Supposedly in here. I thought during the investigation it was noted that the student also bragged about having bigger guns in her backpack. The principal, along with a deputy, surrounded the classroom to retrieve the student. Yeah, well, we're close. Yeah, we're closer to Edmond than we are in the middle. We're going to ask you a few questions, Romeo, okay? That's what he said. So, that's uh, you're good. And yesterday, I remember when I was in there checking bags in your math class. Today, it was reported that you attend the backpack. I said what I'm being told because okay, that's what you understand. That's

what people were saying. Yeah, yeah, and that's why I don't want to do it in the classroom. So, it's obviously, you know, we got to do what we got to do. Okay, come on, get in here. Do you recall? Did you ever make a statement like that yesterday that maybe someone you were messing around and somebody said this all to heard it? They never seen it. Okay, can I see your backpack? I just, we just got a chip, and I told you when I got you out of the classroom. I have to look at all tips, whether it's weapons, guns, whatever it is, weed. I didn't bring those, okay? Let's smell it, that's all, yeah. And, uh, but when we asked, stay up to your pocket. You, you know if you refuse, this is what happens. So if I would empty my pockets, I would never do this. No, well, you still would have been arrested, but you don't have to go through all the anguish. Just, you know that when you're in my office with deputies, and you know you have something, that's the best system. It's not going to get any better. I don't want to know. I just want to know what's so, just like I told you. You're gonna go to the county jail, okay? You're under arrest right now for possession of a weapon on school grounds. It's a felony.

Okay, so you will. We're getting a transport unit here. You're going to be transported to the county jail. Okay, at that time, you will be able to use the phone and booking. Yeah, I'm a Sprint to call whoever you'd like us, ma'am. Yeah, who do you live with? Just curious. Your mother. Does she know you got one? She's 18. I think we'll eventually on my end contact your mother. Can you please? Well, that's right, the law enforcement right now. She will know when you contact her at the gym right now. Right now, you are 18. Okay, you're an adult at this point, so we don't have to follow the same things that we would with the juveniles. Okay, so when you get to the county jail, you can call Mom. Yeah, it's in her bag. It's in her bag. It's a lip gloss, I think. What about your jacket? Do you want to keep that on or you? Yeah. Do you have any other jewelry on? What about your belt? Yeah, Alicia, are you in fear of anything?

Um, kids was trying to, like, they was messing with me and my sister. And I, um, it was, uh, a couple of girls. But, well, we'll get right now. We just want to make sure that I think we're doing everything that we can. And now, were you worried that the these girls were gonna attack you with weapons? Yeah, they always seen how they gonna do this swimming with my sister. And I just, the suspect was charged with three serious felonies, including possession of a weapon on school grounds.
