Hello everybody, it is August 5th, 2020, 12:30 p.m., 86 degrees Fahrenheit, 30 degrees Celsius. I'm in Astoria, Queens today, and I'm going to show you the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias, which hit New York City yesterday and

Astoria got particularly hard hit with a lot of downed trees, crushed cars, and playgrounds like this one at the Square Park, full of branches. I think I'll head my way over to Astoria Park and let you see how it is. As you can see here, this road still

is milled, but there's tons and tons of leaves all over the place. I look over here to the left, a lot of branches fell over there too. Let me tell you, yesterday was pretty intense. I was out there recording, and you can actually find both of my videos that I did yesterday

on my Black and Shadow channel and also a live stream I did on this channel from the Staten Island Ferry. But during that storm, I actually lost my glasses and my umbrella broke. Also, my external microphone flew out of my shirt pocket, but I was

able to find it again, but my glasses, there's no way I was gonna find my glasses again. I'm gonna make a right here onto Crescent Street. I know this block or these few blocks of Crescent Street got a lot of damage and branches here.

I even saw a picture yesterday of a tree growing from someone's car. That's how fast the branch went into the windshield. Look at this big, sturdy branch, completely down. It's going to take days for the city and the people to just clean up after all this.

over here too look at that and there's an ambulance here FDNY I don't know what's going on here I'm gonna make a left here seems like the sinkhole is still here and someone knocked over the cone so let me put it back in its place

My gosh crazy cone crazy phone a big hole there all right going to Astoria Park now this way is a little bit quieter I could have filmed yesterday right after I got back from Manhattan but at that point I was already done I had enough hurricane and

tropical storm winds yesterday I'm surprised these trees held up but we'll see how the ones in the story have parked it I've heard stories from Astoria Park that said it's like a crazy war zone now I read there was also a structural

building collapse in Williamsburg Brooklyn as well All right not too much damage over here but I'm gonna go see Astoria Park making one left here Sorry the city got around to cleaning a lot of the down branches and trees already at least the major ones

the ones they're probably still working on are probably off to the side tied up somewhere Look at that there's a big tree uh tree branches in front of me in the bike lane that's gonna be fun to get across All right bicycle versus tree who will

win Oh my goodness a lot of casualties over here also someone's umbrellas over there that might be a casualty as well Here's Astoria Park's parking lot whoa police line do not cross Let's go here Holy moly whoa look at this on this side too all

The trees are down here. Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! Wow! Holy crap, excuse my language. Oh my goodness! Hope no one's car got destroyed or property damaged, but I'm glad it didn't fall in the house. Wow! Insane. Looks like I fell on some telephone

cables. Oh my gosh! Everyone's trying to go up this block. Wow! All right, let's go over here. Let's check this out. More downed trees over there on that side by the track and field. Oh my goodness! Is this even a park anymore?

All the trees are down. Look at this tree, this thing is huge! Oh my gosh! Wow! Wow! Wow! I gotta get up close to this one. Oh my goodness! To think that a massive tree fell down. Oh my gosh! This is unbelievable. The entire like pathway is full of dead

trees. Wow! This like three trees here that are down. I gotta take a picture of this. Oh my gosh! Incredible. Yeah, there's three trees that are down here. Gigantic trees! Wow! I don't think we have a park anymore. This is all like barren now.

Look at this tree, it's split in half! Wow! Is this a tree anymore? Yeah, no. Split in threes. One, two, three. Yeah. Oh crazy! No, there's three over there. Yeah, huge. Wow! We look at this thing. Wow! This is incredible. I've never seen

like this. That's crazy! My gosh! Look, they even blocked off that area. Yeah, people are right, this is a war zone. All right, this is a war zone. What did the black dog do? Some more trees over there that fell and this just within the park folks.

this isn't even on the residential streets, here's not so much of a priority for the city to clean off because it's not obstructing the roads or damaging someone's property, but still, some child can get hurt if they mess around with those dead trees or

fall into a hole or something. [Applause] Let's go down over here. Wow, this is crazy. How many more trees are we going to see? Look at this one, it went right over the fence. Wow, the whole park is full of branches and

twigs and even on the road here too. It's gonna take a while for the city to recover from all of this. Look at this tree over here, the whole main branch came apart right on top of this car. Well, looks like that car escaped with not too much damage, but still

oh my gosh, we're gonna go around the perimeter of the park. Well, more leaves over there on that block. I think emergency services and the fire department is just spending the entire day today closing off streets and cutting trees. Even yesterday when I was coming back

from an errand, I had trouble getting back because there was no subway service at the outdoor stations. I had to take the train to the underground station and then walk farther to get to my place. All right, here's Shore Boulevard. This is the open street, no traffic can come down here.

All right, let's see what kind of damage we can find over here. Oh my goodness, look at this. There's leaves and twigs all over the bike lane. Wow. [Music] This was the sight around the city yesterday, not just this neighborhood, around the

The city is a mess! It came quick and furious. Some more branches here. I'm even worried about getting something stuck in my tires. All right, I kind of know there's no, um, there's not really too many trees over there, so I'm gonna go up here and go

towards the main area of Central Park. I mean, uh, Astoria Park towards the track and field, but man, look at this. This is going to be fun to bike through. I was able to do it. All right, let's see what the damage is around this

loop road here. Or maybe people have tossed some of the twigs and branches off to the side. Wow, look at this. This is crazy. Well, most of the main branches have been put to the side, but wow, look at that tree. You can't even go

across the road. Whoa, look at this one. Oh my gosh. All right, I see a cleanup crew over here. There's a machine that makes mulch, so maybe they're busy putting in the dead branches and trees in there slowly for sure. Look at this. Yeah.

Department of Parks. Look at this crazy. Yeah, I'm going to show you the Department of Parks that they're doing. I think they're inspecting the trees and turning the branches into mulch. They're cutting this down because it's too dangerous. Wow.

This is crazy. It's going to have a lot of work in the next few days. Wow, look at this tree. Like three-quarters of it is missing. [Music] A lot of damage here. I don't even remember seeing this many downed trees since Superstorm Sandy.
