how fit are bodybuilders? Bodybuilder versus Navy SEAL. Does Navy SEAL should MOG the bodybuilder in any sort of endurance, speed, power activity. See what happens. I should preface this by saying that a lot of you watching this are probably familiar with my start in the fitness industry online. Right? Covered some bodybuilding content, powerlifting. Although at one point, I probably did refer to my style of training as bodybuilding or powerlifting or power building. But the reality of the situation is I was never going to step on stage and be a competitive bodybuilder because that requires enormous amounts of gear and I was just not willing to do that. And natural bodybuilding is not a thing. And I also think that training the bodybuilding style if you're natural is really not the most optimal way for health, longevity, performance, and aesthetics. I really don't. The bodybuilder look is a very

specific thing that is almost weird to look at if you are aware of the pitfalls of it. I think, and I will stand on business for this, that the Golden Era of bodybuilding with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gold's Gym Venice, that whole California scene really skewed people and gave them an unhealthy standard of male body image. Like, they may look cool, but they're falling apart now. They're paying for it. They were buying time. Is that the right analogy? Basically, with tomorrow for today's gain, but it's just not practical. A bodybuilding build is not adaptable. It's not athletic. It's not... I'm being redundant. Let's get into it. I'm with my brother, my brother like somebody who's terminally online and part of the fitness space would probably say the guy on the left looks better than the Navy SEAL on

the right if you if you take a step out of that world. It's an insane statement. The guy on the right looks way healthier, okay, at least in my opinion. But I don't even think it's an opinion, it's a fact. It's just that when your brain is warped with what social media presents you, your outlook on fitness is like [__] it's fried in Christ. Yes sir, Bley Weaver, dag on bodybuilder, professional bodybuilder, and professional eater. Yeah, you trying to hype me up before you smoke me here in the water, guys. But is that like, is anyone else on earth a pro bodybuilder and a pro eater? First ever, first ever. That's a horrific combo, that's bro, it's speed running life. Yes sir, dude, it's a pleasure to be here with you today. We're going to kick today off with a little PT. Now, uh, I don't know, are you much of a swimmer, Bartley? I'm not, I couldn't tell you the last time I

the last time I got in water was a cold plunge, so I'm good to sit in it. I don't know about swimming across the well. The good news is you can touch out here. So, okay, you know, let me tell you guys what we're going to do today. We are going to do the Navy SEAL physical standards test. All right, it's been a long time since I've done this. This is the test that I had to take back when I was 19 years old. I would say that swimming is an extremely important underrated skill, SL physical activity. If you guys don't know how to swim, I would 100% recommend learning how to swim because it could save your life. But two, that's my lifeguard years speaking, two zero impact unless you're a competitive swimmer where you destroy your shoulders over time, but none of you will probably do that unless you're competitive swimmers already. But swimmers' physiques are crazy in that it's conducive to maximizing the human potential of the body. Now that's

sounds crazy. Let me illustrate it. Swimmers are one of the only athletes that can build muscle and burn fat at the same time. Obviously, lifting and [__] like that, you build muscle and burn fat, but it's such an optimized activity for the human body that if you're a great swimmer, you can tell right away from the person's physique. It's a crazy thing, and I wanted to earn a seal contract. This is what I had to do. If you guys know anything about my swimmers, have no legs. Filly on the [__]. Are you guys on drugs? Have you seen Olympic swimmers? Granted, they're probably juiced to the [__] gills, but some of my friends swam D1 IV League institutions, and their legs were [__] tree trunks. Kicking is your motor, maybe if you're a distance swimmer, but dude, breast strokers, freestyle, are you kidding me? Story. I failed this test for months and months and months before I

finally passed it. I still remember my numbers. Humans are not made for swimming. Oh my God, okay, yeah, humans are not made for swimming. We're distance runners. Um, if you think humans are not at least capable of being great swimmers, you're on drugs from back in those days, really. So, it's going to be interesting to see where I'm at now. Um, so the test is basically a 500-meter swim. Now, you're supposed to use either the side stroke or the breast stroke, but Bartley, you use whatever stroke you want, bro. This side, nope, kind of like this, but you can freestyle whatever you want, man. So, 500-meter swim. After that, we're going to take about a 5-10 minute break, and then we're going to get Max push-ups, Max sit-ups, Max pull-ups. Okay, then we're going to take another 5-10 minute break, and then we're going to get a mile and a half run. Second of all, I'll stop glazing swimmers, but swimmers probably... It's Pro.

Elite-level swimming is probably the hardest sport in the world in terms of training. Yeah, all that's going to be timed. I'll count for you, you count for me. We'll do the swim at the same, but wrestlers, wrestlers are up there too. I would say fight training and swimming, hardest training time together. We'll do the run at the same time, and if you don't believe me, go [__] swim. Go swim a couple laps, you'll probably pass out. Most people cannot swim 200 m without stopping together, and we'll just keep up with our time. So, it's a legit kind of just all-around test of physical fitness, endurance, um, and it'll smoke you, man. I guarantee it. I remember, so I used to be a State Trooper for seven years in Kentucky, so we had like the pops test Y, which was something similar, push-ups, sit-ups. We didn't have pull-ups, we didn't swim, we did the mile and a half, so I'm

familiar with about half, and those smoked me. So, had the swimming in front of it. I guarantee it's going to be good. So, what do you think your numbers are going to be on the push-ups? Two minutes. So, can you stop? Yeah, you can stop. You can stop and, you know, get on your knees for a minute and then get back into it. You don't have to. We'll go that way. We'll go. I don't know if I would put sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups together as like the Pinnacle of Fitness, although it does give, like, if you're a lighter athlete, lighter person, you're obviously going to be able to crank out calisthenics a lot easier. And if you're training in a military setting, that's what they do. So, like, you can train push-ups every day and get really good at them. But if you throw a bodybuilder in here, they're not going to have the muscular endurance to keep up at all. Well, how's it go? I want to do it.

well, well, the standard is you. Once you get in the Leaning rest, you have to stay in the Leaning rest. We can do that, okay, all right. That's going to cut our numbers down significantly. So what do you think your numbers are going to be? 75? That's pretty good. Can I swim butterfly? No, I can't. I can't even swim [__] butterfly. Granted, I've never truly been taught the proper techniques, but I've tried to swim it before, and I gas out within 10 seconds. That's more than I think I can get. Maybe sit. What do you think? Sit-ups? Sit-ups is... it's different for a pro eater. We don't do abs. I've got abs, but that's more so from the diet and from the other weightlifting training where you're using your core, you know, and all the other lifts, but I don't technically do just ABS. So I know crunches are hard. I remember that was like one of the hardest for me. Oh, they hurt, yeah, they

hurt so so probably you know around 50 for that maybe 50 yeah pull-ups uh I could do I could do 15-20 now one it's not bad for somebody his size but you have to take into account the body doesn't really care if it's muscle or fat in terms of mass meaning well it actually kind of does it depends on what activity you're doing right like a bodybuilder probably going to be a worse Runner than somebody who's just overweight because muscle requires oxygen and that that [ __ ] will just drain your glycogen faster than you could [ __ ] blink what I'm saying is all of the activities that this guy's going to be doing is exacerbated by the fact that he's carrying around so much more weight I think you're going to be surprised on the pull-ups when we do this swim it's going to smoke your lats I already know because you're pulling you know what I mean and then you get on that pull-up bar and it's crazy how much

your lats are already smoked. Bro's bicep veins are bigger than my [ __ ] dick and balls, bro. Holy [ __ ]. Um, back in the day, my numbers for pushups were in the mid-80s. Mhm. Situps were 9 to 100. Mhm. Pull-ups were 12 to 15. Mhm. Usually um, so I don't think I'm going to be anywhere near those numbers today, but I'm super pumped about this, man. Just fixing your running form, your swimming form, your boxing form, your kicking form, you waste less energy, you can breathe through the exercise, you don't gas out, and then you just MOG people that try so hard. And this is like a thing in life, right? You want to nail down the technicalities before anything else. Skinny dude is like a fish. The crazy thing, he's not even skinny, he's got a normal, if not healthy, muscular body. But in relation to this guy, yeah, I guess you could call him [Applause] skinny. Woo, yeah, he's moving pretty good right now. Bro, Navy SEAL is not even trying, bro. He's doing like a survival level pace. Yeah, hey, you doing pretty good, buddy. appeals to me in that when I see somebody do something like this, it makes me want to be good at swimming. It makes me want to practice different physical activity so that like I'm at least competent, you know? I don't ever want to be in a situation where it's like, holy [ __ ], I literally can't swim, and if I don't move, I die. But it goes with other things too, especially with like running. I think most people should strive to be able to run a 5k, 3 miles, nice easy pace. There's like basic fitness standards that just get overlooked when you hyperfocus on like social media fitness stuff, doing splits on it, bro. I'm trying to make you guys better versions of yourself, all right? I want to listen, if we ever do a meetup and we're out in the ocean and you guys can't swim, I'm not saving you because I'm gonna, I'm gonna do laps around and say, Haha, haha.

remember when you thought swimming was stupid? Chat going bit at an angle here one down three to go and I guess I I'm being critical because a lot of people ask me questions on like Fitness and [ __ ] like that and this more aligns with my modern take on Fitness adaptability you should you should be dynamic you should be able to Pivot and do different activities the second you pigeon hole yourself although specificity is a thing you want to try to break away from that singular mindset powerlifting bodybuilding uh even CrossFit they don't really understand periodization and it's not as that that's an example of like not paying attention to the technique and just flopping around like a fish on the pull-up bar he you go barley yeah don't be afraid to put your head under water barley Chad finishing up lap three what's a proper running form it depends on if you're sprinting or [Applause] jogging he doing like a side stroke I guess that's good for like really long

distances. Ideally, you want to maintain that freestyle, but I could see why Navy Seals also learn the side crawl. Yo, Phil, how much do you say it's a healthy amount of minutes of jogging that a normal person or fitness dude should strive for? I'd say start with 30 minutes. If you can jog and maintain a pace for 30 minutes, it doesn't really matter how slow. Just try it first before you worry about speed, but run for 30 minutes. See if you could even do it, and that should be the goalpost for most people. I would say 12:35, 12:35 finish yet. Let's go, Barley. Yeah, the side stroke is for emergency. I get it. Yeah, you can't get fired up. You got a Navy SEAL right beside you. Yeah, you got it. Yeah, nice work. I don't understand how that doesn't infuriate some of you guys. That level of fitness or being a bodybuilder is just, it's not good at all. 14:34, 14:34, 14:34. Dude, that's actually not a bad time.

that's the longest I ever SW in my life, brother. That's not a bad time for thank you, my bro. Woo, man. So, what you're telling me is we got the hard stuff out of the way. My chest probably suffered the most damage here, and the humbling thing here is there's no weights; the resistance is the water. You're fighting against yourself, so you get cooked unless you know how to just GL wide, take a deep breath, and flow with the water. Broke down a lot of tissue. It's unbelievable, ain't it? Yeah, man, really, especially when you're not used to it. So, we're going to move in the next part of the PST, which is going to be the push-ups. Um, these push-ups, the way it'll work, I'll go first, Bartley will count for me. I'll get in the leaning rest. I just want you to put your fist to where when I go down, it's hitting my chest right, not my not.

my abdomen, but my chest, uh, and that's going to force me to go all the way down, touch your fist with my chest, and then for it to count, I have to push all the way back up in a locked-out position, all right, with my elbows, uh. That'll be one, and we'll go ahead and do this regulation just like we did to qualify for the SEAL contract. Once you get in the leaning rest and you start your push-ups, you cannot get back. How long should your head be underwater as you swim, yo? Maybe we'll do a, a filon. We'll do the pool. That I swim in is closed. It's my, it's my grandma's pool, but it would be a great stream where I literally, I do my swim lessons just for chat. I will teach you guys how to swim in real time, swim effectively, swim fast, swim efficiently to the best of my ability. Obviously, there's going to be high school level swimmers that can probably smoke me in anything over 50 m.

but back up on your knees or anything. You can art your back, but to answer your question, you want - I mean, it depends how long the distance you're swimming in it is, right? Ideally, you rotate every third breath. I mean, you could do two breaths, you could do every - or sorry, Two Strokes, every third stroke, every four strokes. I'd say for optimal form, you want to do every three strokes. This way, you get used to the rotary breathing on the left and right side, um, but if you need more air, more oxygen, every two, you can shake a hand, but your head is always going back to neutral in the water, out, whatever you need to do, and then get back after it. Um, do we know what to like - like the top end of the seal test? So, to be competitive, to get a seal contract, it's in the 80s, okay? In the 80s, which, uh, I'm going to tell you guys, go ahead and get ready, my push-ups are going to be sad today. So, uh, to - we're going to get as

many as we can, but yeah, 80s will be competitive, guys. At the very upper end, we hit 100. That's [__] crazy, to be honest. 80 strict push-ups plus 110, something like that. But uh, in 2 minutes, you basically got to just R them out the whole time if you're going to hit those 2 minutes. So I'm looking forward to it, man. Let's do it, bro. anyway, no and more carbs equals more glycogen equals fatter pumps equals more muscle. Not one to one, but that's the mindset that they do kind of ascribe to. Two 53, 53, yeah. Hey man, 53 is not bad with all that muscle up top, a big turtle shell. Nice work man, thank you bro. All right, body mass is not good for your heart, that's correct. Your body doesn't care if it's muscle or fat, it's extra mass, stress on your organs. We got a little bit of pull-ups and a mile and a half R yeah but you know man before we do what's crazy is Navy SEAL has some pretty jacked legs. It's something I wasn't this is going to be so homoerotic but but legs like this they're reminiscent of like a Fighter's legs. They're muscular and they're strong as [ __ ] I don't know

how much they could squat. But most people would be shocked to know that this sort of musculature on a leg is so much more optimal than enormous quads and calves for like like to squat. Like squatting is important. Back loading, front loading with a barbell, sure, but up to a certain point. I mean like if you're not training endurance in your legs for running, kicking, and swimming, uh, say cycling, throwing kicks, like what function do your legs serve? Sure, you can just train legs all the time, but I would encourage people to try various sports and put their legs through the ringer to see if they're actually adaptable, if they actually have muscular strength, muscular power, muscular endurance, stability. That's a little bit of pull-ups on a mile and a half R. Yeah, but you know, man, before we do this pull-ups, you said something out there a minute ago that hit me. You said, you know what, man, you can't be this, we're getting paid to work out, and uh, you know, that's

the attitude that people need to remember. We get to do this type of stuff, even if you're not getting paid to do it. If you have the ability to do it, you get to do it, right? And I told you earlier, the whole month of June, man, I had a dang blood clot in my leg. I couldn't train. I couldn't train. And so, that's the way I feel today, the same way as you, is grateful I get to do it. And there's a lot of people out there who can't do what we're doing today, wholesome maxing. It's a good message, and yeah, it hurts, yeah, it's hot, it burns, the swim sucks, but there's a lot of people out here that can't freaking do what we're doing. And so, you guys keep that in mind as you train day-to-day. If you can't find the motivation to do it, do it for those who can't do it. And uh, that will really change your mindset, and you'll go harder on the pull-ups. We'll go off of

this big pipe right here. It's a I want a pipe like that bro where I can do pull-ups off of. That's sick a fat grip built-in pull-up bar big fat grip. There's no tape up there. That's a slit bar your hands wet like mine. Yeah yeah so the standards for this once we Mount the bar grip strength could also be a limiting factor for a lot of people like if you can't hold on to the bar you're not going to be able to do any any pull-ups. It says me dead hang pull-ups as we can do Dismount. It's over um we'll come up all the way up. When I was in high school I think my Max was like 26 dead hang pull-ups and that was pretty good for somebody at the time. I was probably like 185. I'm no no no senior year. I was like 195. That's pretty damn good. But I did train pull-ups a lot. Basically chin over the bar is going to count for one. So the way this is set up.

your chin's basically going to touch the bottom corner of that little rise right there, and then coming down all the way back to Dan H. Okay, that's one. How many think he's going to get, chat? I'm going to say 16 strict dead hang pull-ups from the Navy SEAL. 20. A lot of you said 20 off the rip. Zone 2 is a good cardiovascular fitness.

Walking's actually the most healthy thing you can do for cardio. It's better than nothing, just a ruck or fast walk. Maybe in terms of longevity, walking is good for you, right? It's great for losing weight because you could walk forever, but in terms of building an engine for yourself, an actual useful cardiovascular system in conjunction with your pulmonary work, right? Like your lungs, your breathing, the efficiency of oxygen transportation. You're not going to get it from walking. All right, I'm going to actually start running now. Hey, get it, baby, get it. At 200, 270, 170 lb to put down that kind of numbers and to stack those up right on top of each other, that's freaking legit, man. Oh, thank you, bro. I guess for his weight and rig after all that activity. I'll give him that. It's impressive that he was able to do that. It definitely gives me a new perspective on bodybuilders. And you know, I've always looked at bodybuilders as like, yeah, they look fit, but they're not really fit, you know what I mean? Right, but um, that's

definitely not the case for you because there's a lot of people that would have come out here and tried to do this. Yeah, that would have been walking half that run, that would have never finished that swim, and definitely wouldn't. Yeah, I am going to give this guy his props, his flowers. He did go out there and do it, and although I was really critical of his whole training and form and all that [__], at least he tried and he did his best, I guess. You know, a lot of bodybuilders on social media won't go out there and actually do this and put up subpar results or just lay it on the table and allow themselves to be criticized or looked at in this light. So, I'll give it to them, put down those kind of numbers on the sea. A lot of bodybuilders are so close-minded that they don't want to run because they think they're going to get smaller. You know, has more to life than just trying

to maintain that type of size, you know, you need to be able to be functional. And I think I learned that, you know, in the academy and playing sports all my life. You know, I always wanted to be functional. Why be this big if you can't do nothing? He's not functional, bro, with it. Yeah, yeah, I age, you know what I mean? So, it's uh, like you said, I appreciate the push, and I definitely wouldn't have done it if you wasn't leading a pack.
