Today's market closed with mixed results as concerns about the August employment report lingered. The Nasdaq index initially rose over 1% in early trading but lost momentum as the day progressed, ultimately closing up 0.25%.

First, the three major indices experienced a decline in the early session when the private report dropped to its lowest level in over three years. However, the number of unemployment claims showed a slight decrease from the previous week, contributing to a rise in the market. In August, private sector jobs increased by 99,000, significantly below the market expectation of 714,000. This figure also marked a decrease of 12,000 from the previous month's 110,000, indicating that it is the lowest level since 2021. Consequently, the downward trend in the job market follows two years of tremendous growth, which is now below average.

Low hiring numbers are being recorded, and this trend indicates that the rapid employment growth seen over the past two years is now slowing down to normal levels or even below. Fortunately, despite the significant slowdown in employment, the actual reported job losses are limited to a few sectors. Specifically, there was a decrease of 16,000 jobs in business services, 8,000 in manufacturing, and 4,000 in information services. Additionally, the current situation is somewhat reassuring as there have not yet been mass layoffs. The number of unemployment claims has slightly decreased to 227,000, which is lower than the expected 229,000. As a result, we find ourselves in the midst of another growth scare, with indices still moving within a very narrow range. If tonight's employment report deviates significantly from expectations, it could lead to further developments.

I think we can expect to see quite a significant movement in the market. Investors are awaiting the non-farm payroll figures and unemployment rate for August, which will be released tonight. If non-farm payrolls fall below 100,000 or if the unemployment rate rises above 4.4%, the market is likely to experience considerable turbulence. 

On this day, the spotlight was on Tesla, which announced that it plans to expand sales of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, currently under development, to Europe and China in the first quarter of next year. As a result, the stock price surged nearly 5%, closing at $230. At one point during the trading session, Tesla's stock rose over 7%, reaching a high of $235. This marked the second consecutive day of strong performance for the stock. The increase in Tesla's stock price is attributed to expectations of technological improvements in the FSD software and the expansion of sales regions.

On this day, Tesla showcased its promotional efforts for artificial intelligence technology at the Tesla AI event, unveiling the roadmap for the release of Full Self-Driving (FSD). However, this plan includes a caveat that the launch of FSD in Europe and China in the first quarter of next year depends on regulatory approval. Consequently, Musk indicated that Tesla's FSD would likely be achieved in late Q1 or Q2 of next year, again emphasizing that this is contingent upon regulatory approval. Meanwhile, the roadmap revealed by Tesla included plans to release version 13 in October, which will increase the distance that vehicles can drive autonomously without driver intervention by six times compared to previous versions. This announcement boosted the stock price, and Tesla's rise is also influenced to some extent by the anticipation surrounding the upcoming reveal of the robotaxi, scheduled for October 10.

Robo-taxis can also be said to be a business that hinges on Tesla's autonomous driving technology. My personal opinion is that while Tesla can erase the process of obtaining permits by collaborating with Baidu in China, I believe the procedures in Europe will take much longer. Nevertheless, Tesla has once again surpassed the 220 mark, causing its stock price to soar to 230 dollars in an instant. Meanwhile, the leading AI company, Nvidia, announced that it would expand its investments in AI companies, resulting in a stock price increase of over 1%, closing at 107 dollars. Nvidia also revealed its participation in the funding of Applied Digital, which provides AI-based solutions for high-performance computing. Applied Digital is a company that builds data centers and operates them while renting out space in its data centers to other companies, and recently it has been focusing on AI cloud computing built on Nvidia chips.

Driving has also started, and with the news of NVIDIA's investment, Applied Digital's stock surged more than 65% on that day, with its share price skyrocketing to dollars in an instant. As a result, NVIDIA's stock showed signs of volatility following the recent announcement of its second-quarter earnings, but it continues to expand its investment activities amid the AI boom, supporting the ecosystem of companies using NVIDIA chips and providing insights into cutting-edge AI technology. The scale of investment is consistently increasing. Following NVIDIA's second-quarter earnings announcement, there are forecasts that the stock could triple in the future. Asset management firm IO Fund emphasized that NVIDIA's market capitalization, boosted by Black's revenue, will surpass $10 trillion. This indicates that NVIDIA's current market capitalization of $2.6 trillion is more than three times that amount. Consequently, NVIDIA's earnings report has significant implications for the market.

Although the expectations were exceeded, the future guidance has fallen nearly 10% below market expectations. However, the potential revenue from the upcoming launch of Black, which could reach billions of dollars, is still highly anticipated. Personally, I believe that this Black will serve as a strong catalyst to elevate NVIDIA's stock price to new heights. Currently, NVIDIA appears to be somewhat stagnant, but I think the first quarter earnings report, which will reflect the revenue from Black, will be very important for the company. I believe that early next year, NVIDIA's fireworks will begin again, and although things are a bit tough right now, if we can endure this situation, the stock price could rise once more. On the other hand, semiconductor and network company Broadcom reported earnings that exceeded market expectations, but in after-hours trading, the stock price...

Broadcom's stock has plummeted nearly 6%. The company's earnings per share stand at $1.24, and revenue has reached $13.07 billion, which is a 47% increase compared to a year ago. However, semiconductor solutions revenue increased by 5% to $7.27 billion, falling short of market expectations. Thanks to the VMware acquisition, infrastructure solutions revenue surged by 200% to $5.8 billion compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, Broadcom provided a fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $14 billion, which does not exceed the market forecast of $14.11 billion. This has raised concerns in the market, leading to a decline of over 6% in the current session. Despite this, Broadcom has stated that it expects AI-related revenue to reach $12 billion this year, which is an increase from the previous AI revenue forecast of $11 billion.

The stock price has continued to decline since reaching $182 on June 17. Broadcom, like Nvidia, has seen its stock drop sharply despite revenue surpassing market expectations, as it failed to meet the market guidance. This situation indicates that Broadcom's performance not only reflects AI demand but also provides insight into whether PC demand can rebound. As a result, Apple's stock price was positively impacted, rising over 0.6% to close at $220 on that day. However, concerns about Broadcom's performance have led to some fluctuations in Apple's stock in after-hours trading. Meanwhile, Apple has shown a consistent upward trend in its stock price ahead of the upcoming iPhone 16 launch on September 9. Morgan Stanley recently noted that Apple's intelligence will play a crucial role in unlocking pent-up iPhone demand and accelerating replacement demand.

The report presented the opinion of increasing Apple's weight, forecasting a stock price of $273, suggesting that the iPhone 16 will mark the beginning of a historic achievement for Apple. Meanwhile, Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, has seen a significant outflow of funds due to a large amount leaving the spot ETF, dropping to its lowest point in four months at around $56,000. This outflow represents the largest figure in over four months since May 1, with $162 million managed by Fidelity's ETF accounting for more than half of the total outflow. As a result, Bitcoin has yet to find a clue for a rebound, and concerns about further declines are growing as this downward trend continues. On the other hand, airline company Blue has raised its earnings forecast for the third quarter, leading to a stock price increase of over 7%. Retailer Carnival also adjusted its earnings estimates for the second quarter, as well as for the third quarter and the year.

After raising the financial outlook, the stock rose by over 88% on that day. On the other hand, Verizon announced the acquisition of a fiber-optic internet provider in a cash deal worth $200 billion, which caused the stock of the acquired company to decline slightly. Meanwhile, ChargePoint, a regular charging company, showed that its second-quarter revenue exceeded market expectations, but the stock plummeted nearly 18%. Following this, the enterprise AI company C3 AI recorded weaker-than-expected subscription revenue, leading to a drop of over 88% in its stock.
