We have tons to talk about today, including an RTX 5090 and 80 gaming PCs listed with prices at a variety of

retailers and in some different configurations. We can learn a lot, well at least speculate a lot about pricing

based on that. Uh, we also have some gaming laptops listed with 5080s and 5090s. Uh, we have some additional

information related to that. I just noticed how my sweater, okay, Christmas sweater, has an unexpected reaction with green

screen. I should have thought about that. We're rolling with the video anyway. Uh, we have Intel Arc B570 GPUs shipping to

customers, not just reviewers, a month early. Can we learn anything? Uh, Intel claims that four out of five of their

performance issues on their Core Ultra 200 series CPUs have been solved. Uh, we have Intel pivoting away from their x86

initiative. We have Present Mon, uh, Present Man, not Mom, updated to include more information about latency

and frame generation, with frames separated out. That's pretty interesting. We have leaks talking about the R5 9600 non-X

version coming in late January. We have apparently Lenovo going to have a Steam OS equipped handheld. I am so ready for

this, and Lenovo has an additional leak showing a rollable display on an upcoming laptop. These RX 7900 graphics cards have

been declared end of life. We have potential actual competition to TSMC to get more supply, including potentially

from Nvidia on a 2-nanometer process. We have some gaming updates about Monster Hunter Wild's PC performance, which could be

better than expected based on the beta. We have Indiana Jones in the Great Circle getting an FSR 3 mod, as well as

confirmation from the game developers that FSR will be added officially. We have another Stalker 2 patch, uh, that's I

I think it's worth talking about, as well as the game being profitable and a little bit about the system requirements for an upcoming title.

Can we actually learn anything from the RTX 5090 and 5080 systems that have been listed online with pricing? Well, a couple

of things. One retailer that has listed both has different configurations for the rest of the system, which adds

some complications. However, we have a different retailer listing the 5090 system with the same otherwise specified

PC components, but that's at a different retailer with the same specs. This being an Acer piece, it's

possible they're listing the MSRP correctly, and there's some additional evidence that that's the case because

both of these sites list the same price on the model that does match between them. How about we get into the details on this a little bit? So at VideoCards.com, they've captured some screenshots of a retailer listing a 90

PC, which again confirms that it has 32 GB of VRAM and a 580 PC, again confirming

that it has 16 GB of VRAM. I've reported on that in the past, but now we have pricing. The

5080 PC is listed at 3500. Remember that European pricing for my American viewers does include, I think it's like 19%

VAT or something along those lines, whereas American pricing doesn't include taxes on it, so just keep

that in mind. Anyway, I'm less interested in the specific price and more interested in the price differential between the 5080 equipped PC and the 5090 equipped PC. However, from what VideoCards.com has captured here, there's the complication that the 5080 PC

as far as the rest of the system specs only has 32 GB of system RAM.

and a Core Ultra 7 processor and a 1 TB solid state drive. Sorry, solid state drive; living in the past, guys, um, the 90s.

equipped PC has 128 GB of DDR5 system RAM, a Core Ultra 9 processor, and a 2

TB SSD, so the price differential for that 590 PC being at €6,000 compared to

€3,500. Okay, that's a €1,500 difference, but again, there are those other differences in parts, so we can't, uh,

conclude that the entire price differential is based on the 5090 itself versus the 5080. However, I'm going to flashbang you.

Uh, we have NotebookCheck, who has a more closely spec'd RTX 590 comparison PC.

If we look at the RTX 590 equipped comparison PC, it's still an Acer Predator design, uh, and this one's coming

in at €4,700, so we're down quite a bit, and that's because it's down to 32 GB of

DDR5, a Core Ultra 7, and a 1 TB SSD. In other words, it matches the specs listed

uh from the PC that we saw over here, uh, with this 580, except that this one has the 5090 as the only difference in parts.

The issue is that these are not from the same store, which means that pricing could be different. However, there's some

evidence that these prices might actually be just following Acer's, uh, you know, official list prices that they

want these to be listed at, right? Uh, because for example, if we look at the Acer Predator, uh,

with the Core i7, 32 GB RAM, with the 580, that's listed at €3,500, which again matches, uh, the €3,500 that we saw at

A different store, uh, listed, uh, where uh video cards.com captured this. In other words, we have the complication of the

PCs listed with the 80 and the 5090 at the same store having different components. However, we have a PC with the same

components with a 5090 in it, but from a different store. However, the PCs that match up between various stores mean

they have the 5080 and the 32 GB, uh, uh system memory, the Intel Core Ultra 7, and

the 1 TB SSD all list at 3500, indicating that there is some price correlation between the different

retailers, meaning that it's possible that these all do have a set price and would correlate. Does that make sense?

Okay, we following all of this? So with that major caveat of different retailers, uh, we can take this notebook check, uh,

data and say that, okay, on these matching parts other than the 5090, we're going from 3500, uh, up to

4700, so a 1200 EUR difference. So the only part differential is that 5090 versus the 5080, and it's a 1200

EUR difference. Now, these are pre-built PCs for one thing, so we should not take that as saying that the actual MSRPs for

the 5090 and the 5080 will have a 1200 EUR difference. Also, these could be

placeholder pricing despite the evidence that I suggested, where maybe that's not the case. So we shouldn't read way too

much into this. Also, there's the fact that these are Acer Predator PCs, which means they're going to be having Acer

Predator GPUs in them, not NVIDIA's MSRP models, right? So it's also possible that

the markup on a 5090 Acer Predator Edition could be much higher than, um, the markup comparing, uh, you know, comparing

base models if that makes sense, so we have a limited amount we can learn from this, but at least between these two

otherwise matched PCS, and the only difference being 5090 versus 5080, and both of them being Acer Predator designs

at least a 200 EUR difference. Now that's a much bigger difference than we saw between the 480 and the 4090 at

least when looking at their MSRPs. But again, their MSRPs were base model pricing, and it's also true that the

custom card designs from partners often did have large markups, including hundreds of dollars

on these top-end designs, especially on your 90 class. If there's no higher tier GPU above it, the sky is kind of the

limit on how high they can price those, especially if there's no competition from AMD or anything like that at the

high end, which is what AMD themselves has indicated. Um anyway, so I really hope there's not a 200 EUR price gap in the

MSRPs between the 80 and the 5090, because that would be indicating that the 90 could be even more just way up

above where everything was with the 40 series, where it was already a pretty big jump. However, the alternative

could be that the 80 is maybe priced less high than the 4080 was. Now

there's some credence to that idea here, so keep in mind that the 4080 launched

at $1,200 and didn't sell well at that price. It was basically upselling you to

the $490, and there was a lot of pushback on that, both in reviews and customer sentiment. The best thing that

customers can do, and the only thing that companies will actually listen to, is voting with your wallet by not buying

Something and again, all signs pointed to the 4080, the original non-Super version not selling well at

$1,200. So Nvidia basically admitted that was a pricing mistake without actually admitting it was a pricing

mistake by launching the 4080 Super. Remember, the 4080 Super is essentially just a 4080; there's

technically a few percent difference in their specs, but it's literally small single-digit

core differences, and that leads to small single-digit basically margin of error difference in performance between the 4080 and the 4080 Super. But what the 4080

Super really did was cut the price to $999 official MSRP. In other words, it was a $200 price cut because the 4080

was overpriced and not selling well at $1,200. So there's at least some chance

that Nvidia will have learned from their mistake that they're going to try to push pricing as high as they possibly

can. I mean, they're a for-profit business; that's literally why they exist. They're going to try to make as

much profit as they possibly can, but if they price too high and people actually don't buy it, then they have the incentive

to lower the price, and that seems to have actually happened with the $1,200 pricing on the 4080. So potentially this

could indicate what if the 5080, you know, costs less? If it comes in at a $700

or even $800, right? I mean, we saw the 3080 wasn't the 3080 a $700 MSRP? And

they tried to price gouge with the 3080 Ti during the whole pandemic-induced used, you know, and

cryptocurrency boom and all of that, you know, GPU shortage. Anyway, there's also when you look at the specs when you compare the

5080 to the 5090, the 5080 at least in the rumored specs, and um you know

listings like this showing it actually having the 16 GB of RAM as rumored and stuff like that are pointing to those

leaks being accurate. The leaked specs show that the 5080 is massively cut down compared to the 490, more so than the

4080 was compared to the 490, and that was already a bigger gap than we had with the 3080 and the 390, so it's also

possible that the card that's being called an 80 and sold as an 80 is maybe more deserving of being something like

uh, you know, a 570 Ti from the actual specs. So potentially it could come with a lower than expected price but
