On the other hand, a decentralized statistical system is one where statistical activities are distributed among various institutions, and each institution independently compiles the statistics it needs. This system is currently adopted by countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Taiwan.

Our country's statistical system can be described as a decentralized statistical system. In adopting this decentralized statistical system, we have the National Statistical Office as the central statistical agency. The National Statistical Office is responsible for coordinating statistics to prevent duplication of statistical production among various statistical agencies, enhance reliability, and maintain statistical quality. To produce important basic statistical data for the nation, the National Statistical Office conducts various survey activities, including the complete enumeration census and industrial census. It also carries out sample surveys, such as the annual sample surveys for mining/manufacturing statistics and transportation statistics, as well as construction industry statistics. Additionally, for monthly sample surveys, it conducts the economically active population survey, household survey, mining and manufacturing activity survey, service industry activity survey, and consumer price survey. Besides these, it also prepares analytical statistics.

Through various types of statistical surveys, the major national statistical information that has been selected, compiled, and processed is constructed in the form of a database and is provided through the internet communication network, managed by the National Statistical Portal site.
