So after six months with the LG Duel Up, is it still worth it? Yes, it is, and we're gonna go over the reasons why in this video. Now, although it's not on my main setup anymore, I'm still using it daily on my streaming setup, which I'm going to be doing a video on soon. But please keep in mind that these are my thoughts that I've generated and taken note of over the past couple of months of using this monitor, and they're catered towards my specific situations and uses for this monitor. So please keep that in mind as you're watching this video. But now, let's go over what I didn't like about the monitor first. The first thing was using it as a second monitor. Initially, I thought it was going to be a great monitor to accompany the ultrawide here on the main desk, but I didn't end up using it as much as I thought I was going to. Originally, it was going to be off on the side for documents that I wanted to review, any code bases that I

just wanted to sift through for projects I was working on or really any other tasks that I had that required more windows to be on display. But as the months went on, I started to realize that the real estate that I had on the ultrawide already was more than enough, and all I was using the LG Duel for was just playing Spotify on, which just isn't worth it for me. And so, when I was moving my streaming setup around and moved it out here right next to the kitchen in my apartment, I decided to repurpose the LG Duel up there and used it as a main monitor for my streaming PC, and it's proven way more useful there, which we'll get into later. Now, on the other hand, there are alternatives to this monitor if you want to use it as a secondary monitor that I've seen online. If you already have a 16x9 monitor and you need a second or third monitor and you wanted one that's in portrait mode, you can definitely get the Duel up. It's more

than enough. It's a perfect monitor to accompany 16x9 monitors that don't have enough real estate. If you have an ultra-wide, maybe rethink it, but that's just me. You may have other situations or other programs that require all those windows. Then you can then justify the use of the LG duel up as a secondary monitor. But for me and my use case, I didn't really see the point. Another thing I didn't really like about using the Dual up alongside my ultra-wide, both of them being LG, they have power delivery through USBC. And so, I wasn't really using a docking station here since I used the LG Ultra-wide as my docking station essentially since it has a built-in KVM. And so, I was plugging the USB C in from both monitors. So, I had two USB Cs going in from the ultra-wide as well as the Dual up. And I was worried about the current going in if it was too much. And sometimes the displays were a little funky with that. So, it wasn't

really useful, but if you do have a docking station that supports these resolutions, or you're not using an ultrawide and still have a docking station, then you should be set. Another alternative that I've seen, and again I've seen this a lot on Instagram, which actually seems pretty cool, is using two dual UPS side by side. Now, I can see that alternative being really awesome, and you can actually get some pretty productive work done with two LG tulips instead of just one, or having it next to an ultra-wide monitor. Next would be the speakers. The speakers don't really work for me. I don't know if this was just on the unit that I was given since this was sent out, or if anyone else has experienced this situation, but the speakers never worked. Now, granted, I don't usually use monitor speakers. I usually have a headset on or my AirPods in and listen to music or any videos or podcasts there instead. But just keep that in mind if it is important to you to have monitors with speakers that work.

just keep that in mind. You may want to go through reviews, but for me, they never worked. Next would be the colors. Now, this isn't too much of a con as much as it was just something that I didn't want to mess with. But straight out of the box, the colors are good. I want to say that, and I want to make sure you understand that the colors are good straight out of the box. But when it comes to photo and video editing, I need the colors to match exactly what's on the display for my MacBook Pro since those colors are exactly what people see when the content is pushed out on platforms like YouTube or Instagram or TikTok. And so, I did have to go in and calibrate this monitor to match the colors that were on my MacBook Pro. But that is synonymous with the ultra-wide as well, both of them being LG branded. So, this isn't necessarily just a problem with this model. This is something I've had to do with the monitors that I have anyways. And so, just keep that in mind if you're

doing photo or video editing, or any editing for that matter that has to do with colors, just keep that in mind that out of the box they're going to be good, but they will differ when you have to potentially, you know, put them up on platforms or airdrop them to your phone. You will notice that some of the color grading that you've been doing or anything in Lightroom or whatever program you use is going to differ, and you're going to want to match them with whatever colors that are on that MacBook or whatever laptop you use. Now let's go over the things I liked about the monitor. Now I mentioned earlier that I've been using this monitor as the main display on my stream PC, and it has been so valuable and so much more impactful on that setup, mainly for Twitch chat. When chat's going crazy and the stream's popping off, I really like having the chat blown up vertically instead of horizontally. That way I can keep track of, you know, any messages that I may have missed, and I don't have to scroll up.

especially since I'm on a dual PC setup. I don't want to have to switch the other mouse and then scroll up and waste a lot of time, especially if I'm on a gaming stream instead of the coding streams. That way, I can just look up and see if there's any messages I may have missed, and if I did, I just read them off, and the chat just keeps going instead of, you know, being on a normal 16x9 monitor. You can only expand it so much vertically, at least. And so, in that sense, it's a lot more efficient for me as the streamer to keep the stream rolling, keep it fluid, keep it moving, and read the chat much easier than if I were streaming on a normal landscape 16x9 monitor, even if it was 4K. Along with the vertical real estate that comes with this monitor, I'm able to display other windows as well, such as OBS. I can have it on the side, as well as chat and potentially some Twitch stats, so I can keep an eye on The View.

counts whatever Subs come in and view my obs screen to make sure that the correct content is being displayed. My webcam doesn't randomly turn off and view my audio to make sure my audio levels are not peaking and that the music isn't louder than I am. So all in all, I can have everything I need for streaming on this monitor at one time, and that right there is already so impactful for me as a content creator and as primarily a streamer. Next, we can talk about the ergonomics of this Monitor and what I like about that. I still think one of the best features of this monitor after months of using it is the Ergo Mount. First of all, it comes with it, which is awesome. I don't like using monitors with stands. I think it clutters up the desk, so the fact that it came with this stand is already a huge Plus for me. It's really easy to mount, it has a lot of range of motion, meaning I can tilt it, adjust it, move it in just the right

orientation, and right now I've got it in a good spot at the setup. The stand also has a really nice cable management feature where it's super easy to tuck away any of the cables and hide it, so cable management is already built into this stand. Where some of the other mounts that you get just give you like zip ties or any of those velcro straps to just tuck away behind it, but you can actually hide them fairly neatly in the stand. This is also a pick about the stand or just the ergonomics in general about this monitor, but since it is a vertical-first monitor, it's easy to look up and look down in kind of weird ranges. And no, I didn't experience any neck strain with this monitor, but I can see the potential of that, especially if your desk isn't too deep, I guess you could say, and it's not too long where you can have the monitor placed back far enough where you can decrease that range of motion where you're looking up and looking down. If you're really close to the monitor, I can

see that you're looking kind of up and looking down, but again, everyone's going to be different in terms of the problems with their ergonomics that you experience. But for me personally, I didn't have that when I was using it here on this desk, nor am I experiencing it on the streaming setup. Lastly, one of the big things for me that I've already touched on a little bit is the KVM switch that is built into this monitor. Now, especially when I was using it here on this desk on the productivity setup, having the KVM switch was a godsend to have for many reasons. I have a work laptop as well as a personal laptop, as well as other desktops. So, being able to plug in different peripherals to the monitor directly and not having to switch around those cables when I switch the source, whether it be my work laptop, my main laptop, or my streaming PC, that efficiency right there is kind of just one of the best things about technology. And if anything has something like that, I'm gonna gravitate towards it.

LG dual monitor has that granted. I have some of the peripherals connected to my devices through Bluetooth, such as my mouse or my trackpad. Those are connected to my laptops through Bluetooth. But for the keyboard, where you have to cable it, and I don't really want to switch it through wireless, I can just have it go directly into the monitor. And no matter what device is currently shown on the monitor, the keyboard is going to be connected to that device. So, that right there is an amazing feature. And it's not just on this dual monitor; it's also on the ultra-wide and most other LG monitors as well. And no, this is not a sponsored post.
