Hi, my name is Jack, and I got a bunch of comments saying this effect would be great for a horror game. If you don't

know, the idea is that if at any time you pause the video or take a screenshot, the image will disappear, and that's what

makes this so great for horror. You can never get a picture of or ever really see your enemies. So I went and updated

my walking simulator. Once you're done watching this video, the link to the game is in the description so you can go play

it. And don't worry, I won't spoil anything. If you wait till the very end of this video, I'll give you some cheat

codes you can go try out. I added all of these effects to the GLTF asset library, and I put the source code, as well as a

demo and a GLTF, all linked in the description. My walking simulator originally used this effect, which worked,

but it was a bit hard to look at. I then programmed this sliding effect, which is way easier to look at, but it has one

problem: it can't convey any depth. Someone suggested that I slide the noise at different rates depending on

the distance from the camera, so I did, and it ended up looking really good. The closest objects slide at 1 pixel per

frame, the next closest slides at 1 pixel per two frames, and so on. I added a parameter so you can adjust how many

different speeds there are. To get the distance from the camera, instead of using a depth texture, as I probably

should have, I stick a light on the camera, and the pixel's brightness determines the depth. You can change the

distance at which the different speeds occur by adjusting the light attenuation and this brightness exponent. At the edges of the different

speeds, we have to randomize the noise. If we don't do this, pixels will repeat in whatever direction the noise moves.

I can see it with this cube, but yeah, I'm really happy with how this effect turned out. It's a bit limiting as you can only

display so many different speeds, but despite this, it works really well for my game. At the very end of my

previous video, I showed off the PFR effect, but I didn't cover it very thoroughly. If you cover your right eye

with sunglasses, this awesome text should appear in front of the background. Make sure when you do this, both of your eyes

are open. Making the image in your right eye darker makes your brain process it slightly slower, creating a stereoscopic

image. If you don't have sunglasses, you can partially close your right eye, and the effect should still work. Things that

move to the left will appear farther away, and things that move to the right will appear closer. With this, we can use

the variable sliding effect to make the game appear 3D. Objects closer to the camera will slide the noise faster, which

in turn makes the image pop out more. While it's not perfect, it does a pretty good job at making a 3D

effect. This whole video, I have shown the effect to be entirely black and white, but it doesn't have to be. By applying

another shader, we can change the colors of the noise to anything we want. I programmed the sliding effect to only

use one number for each pixel, but you could store more. For my purposes, I didn't need to, so I added three cheat

codes to my game. All I have to do to enable them is type them while you're in the title screen. The first is "scary".

There's a 33% chance the game is in scary mode, but typing this in will guarantee it. The next is "colorful". If you

enter this one, it will add a menu in the pause screen to change the colors of the pixels. The last is "pull FR", that's P L F R.

As I explained earlier, putting on sunglasses over, or somehow darkening the vision of your right eye, will make the

game stereoscopic, and that's pretty much it. Hope you enjoyed the video.
