It’s because the platform emerges from the architecture. While architecture and platform are different expressions, architecture is a more abstract concept. However, it is not incorrect to use architecture in a broader sense to refer to the platform; they can be used interchangeably or separately. This is why we refer to the TNGA as the first-generation and second-generation T platform, for example. If you lack a clear understanding of architecture, you might get confused thinking they are entirely different concepts, as there is a lot of overlap. From a developer's perspective, some explain architecture as the platform, while others differentiate them, saying that architecture is more...

The underlying technology mentioned above can be explained in a broad sense. This is exactly what we are talking about. Executive Director Ko Young-hoon seems to be a bit older than me, but he feels like a close older brother. He is good-looking and takes great care of his health. Anyway, let's move on. The electric vehicle dedicated platform being presented today is optimized for the next generation of electric vehicles, with performance tailored to customer lifestyles. It reflects Hyundai Motor Group's extensive technical considerations aimed at accelerating the era of electric vehicle popularization. While explaining the platform, I mentioned the technical considerations. If it could be defined by just one thing, we wouldn't call it a technical consideration. So why did we put in so much effort? It's because the platform is a concept that encompasses a wide range of elements, and we really put a lot of thought into it. Let's continue. The first concept is...

To introduce, we implement products that reflect the various product characteristics required by customers, and the first concept is modularization. Many of you may be confused about what modularization is. Essentially, modularization means separating multiple components into one assembly. In simpler terms, the reason for modularization is not to include everything, but to allow for the freedom to add and remove components as needed. In analog systems, modularization was challenging. We had to design entire sub-boards and combine them, which meant that creating one product required using various technological platforms of that generation, limiting us to only a few types. This made analog design data extraction less flexible. Therefore, the overall platform does not have to be completed by including everything; instead, it can be tailored to reflect the diverse product characteristics demanded by customers, which means there are fully equipped products as well as those that are not.

There are products, for example, Google's Pixel phone, which is the easiest example for you to understand regarding modularity. The Pixel 4 has components like the camera, graphics chipset, display, and battery that can all be separated. This means you can purchase only what you need. Therefore, if you miss a few configurations, you cannot say that it is not a Pixel phone just because not all modules are applied. You can include the display and essential components, add the battery, and remove everything else, like the camera. Even then, it is still a Pixel phone. 

The modular concept is about configuring the product to meet various customer environments and needs. The confusion arises because people think that everything must be included. However, modularity allows for removal, while still being a product derived from that platform and containing the technology necessary for new standardization. It is essential for you to understand modularity well.

Maximizing the unique performance of the second electric vehicle while enhancing the inherent capabilities of the electric vehicle results in performance. What is performance? It relates to the performance aspects associated with the system, and the electronic control necessary to manage it is included in the platform. Currently, two elements—modularity and performance—are incorporated into the platform. 

Thirdly, it ensures the safety of passengers even in unexpected accidents, which relates to reliability. This involves aspects such as the rigidity and stability of the vehicle structure. So, we are defining the platform with three elements: modularity, performance, and reliability. 

Let's continue. Fourthly, it has been developed to extend the usability of mobility into everyday life. What does usability mean? It refers to the elements that allow the usability of mobility to be expanded into daily life.

The spacious interior and the comfortable ride quality through MVH, as well as the improvement in driving texture and adequate driving performance, including additional features like V2L, are all part of this. How many categories have been released on the platform so far? It has been categorized into four types: RU, PER, and so on. This is designed to reduce development complexity from the planning stage of the GMP, allowing for a more flexible response to multi-segment needs. This means it has been made flexible enough to accommodate everything from small to large vehicles. I have provided various examples of platforms, such as MQB, which includes models from Polo to Atlas. You are also familiar with the CLAR platform, which includes the X7 and XM. While the chassis cannot be shared absolutely, it is defined as a club platform. This means that modular insertion and removal have become simpler and more flexible.

From the manufacturer's perspective, this is a highly optimized platform for planning products that can reach a wide range of consumers by going beyond various segments. It allows us to provide customers with diverse and high-quality next-generation electric vehicles by introducing the concept of modular standardization, crossing the boundaries of vehicle types. To respond to diverse consumers, we introduced the concept of modularization and standardization, which was a significant consideration in the early stages. We don't specifically refer to certain parts; instead, we encompass everything needed for electric vehicles. As for performance, what is included? The P system, which naturally incorporates the battery, inverter, and electronic software. This is included, and what about usability? Additional features are integrated there as well.

It will also include devices like the V2L and other additional components, which are all consistently integrated as part of the platform. This is not defined as a single entity. The streamlined vehicle platform structure, achieved through system modes, allows for quick responses to market demands and enables the presentation of vehicles at a higher quality that meets customer preferences. Conceptually, it is not just specific parts like a chassis that are considered the platform; rather, all the elements included are explained as part of the platform. After watching this video, can one truly understand the chassis? The GMP also allows for various options tailored to customers' lifestyles, including vehicle classes and driving ranges. What this means is that there are multiple types of vehicles available, categorized by price range and segments.

You mentioned that the size and class vary, and according to value and driving distance, we will supply a diverse range. That’s why we introduced the modular system. The modular approach is a very important element for achieving this. It doesn't mean that everything is included; rather, when something is removed, it doesn't require a complete redesign like analog design does, but only that specific part needs to be addressed. We have standardized the technology optimized for electric vehicles. So, we have standardized the battery system optimized for electric vehicles, meaning that the standardized battery system is integrated into this platform. Now, the battery is also included here. Earlier, I mentioned the P system and the battery because electric vehicles consist of a battery, electric motor, and inverter control system, all of which are part of an assembled P system. The battery cannot be removed. So, what is included in the platform now?

There are so many elements on top of what you thought was simply something to find. You all missed it even though I explained it so clearly. Why did you miss it? It's because the chassis was overlooked. Let's continue with the explanation. The Hyundai Motor Group plans to strengthen innovative design through fusion with these parts and systems in the future. Through this, we expect to flexibly and swiftly accommodate the demands of the accelerating market, including electrification, electronics, and autonomous driving, not only in research and development but also in production and service, thereby maximizing customer value. This is the reason for creating the platform. By creating a platform, we can quickly respond to various markets and diverse customers to maximize customer value. Maximizing customer value means creating the necessary details and supplying them quickly at a good price, catering to each environment and preference.

The goal is to satisfy consumers. Where is the explanation of the chassis? Where is the explanation of specific parts? The intention behind this entire system is to respond accordingly, which is the purpose of the EGMP design and the result of extensive consideration by Hyundai. The GMP is fundamentally designed to enable all-wheel drive, and depending on the user's choice, a rear-wheel two-wheel drive option is also available. The driving mode can be freely adjusted; it can be front-wheel or rear-wheel drive. So here, we mentioned rear-wheel drive, but there was no current related to the drive motor. You might point out this wording regarding electric vehicles. Why is there a mention of rear-wheel drive when front-wheel drive is also presented? However, the driving method for electric vehicles is completely different from that of my car. If the motor is mounted at the front, it becomes front-wheel drive, and if it's at the back, it becomes rear-wheel drive. To mount the engine in the front, I would need to arrange it transversely, of course, in a new layout.

There are some strange examples like the front-wheel drive Audi A4, but that's a somewhat inefficient exception. For the most part, the engine placement and drive transmission system need to be completely changed. However, with electric vehicles, that's not the case. If you move the motor from the back to the front, it simply becomes front-wheel drive, and if you move it back again, it becomes rear-wheel drive. If you place motors at both the front and back, it becomes all-wheel drive. To implement all-wheel drive, there's no need for a transfer unit, and to configure rear-wheel drive, there's no need for a longitudinal layout or a propeller shaft. This means that the rear-wheel drive eWD method is also possible, which is how the design of the Ioniq 5 emerged. Since the Ioniq 5 will be launched soon, this wording was based on the Ioniq 5. If the rear-wheel 2WD and front-wheel eWD had been included, people would have been less confused. This is where Hyundai's consideration seems to have been lacking, and that's the conclusion you can draw.

Isn't it? So, when I explain next, I need to include both rear-wheel and front-wheel drive to avoid confusion. Thanks to the placement of the drive motor in the space where the internal combustion engine has disappeared and the battery being positioned low at the bottom of the chassis, it has become possible to achieve front-rear weight distribution and a low center of gravity. The placement of the drive motor is also different from the 2 and 3 models; the 2 and 3 have a slightly higher position than the 5, while the 4.3m, or approximately 4.7m long chassis, has differences in the field. Therefore, while lowering this sufficiently, there may be constraints in space for high-capacity batteries, which could lead to some instances where it is positioned higher. This is also something that could be pointed out as a difference. Let’s continue. It can achieve a higher level of performance and provide more stable high-speed driving. Additionally, there are rear-link suspensions applied to medium and large vehicles and the first developed function-integrated type.

Applying the drive x creates another issue: the multi-link suspension used in mid to large-sized vehicles. However, looking at the EV3, it utilizes a trailing arm type of link. Prior to that, front-wheel-drive models like the Grandeur and Sonata also had a trailing arm link structure, and the Genesis features a link as well. With the Ioniq 5 and EV6 incorporating a five-link system, they seem to present this as a standard, emphasizing the product's competitiveness. This could lead to misunderstandings, as it may be conveyed as the perfect standard. Additional explanations would be beneficial here. Furthermore, it is quite rare to find a compact car, with a length of 4.3 meters, that has a multi-link or five-link suspension. Even in internal combustion engine vehicles, it's hard to find such models. Typically, trailing link systems are used, which limits the available space.

Links need to be adjusted to fit the vehicle specifications, but doing so prevents the use of common parts, significantly increasing production costs. Therefore, if manufacturers had differentiated links for compact models and standard models like the 526, it could have avoided this issue. It's a bit disappointing. 

The new electric vehicle platform, known as GMP, features a dedicated structure with new batteries, motors, and chassis. It was developed through extensive consideration of stability and reliability. Our primary goals were to ensure passenger protection and battery safety while optimizing the platform structure from both a holistic and detailed perspective, taking into account the characteristics of electric vehicles. We considered many factors, including optimizing the battery for the best overall and specific performance.

I worked hard to create the structure necessary for developing the platform. I thought about it in terms of modules, performance, reliability, and also about the build. The safety aspects related to the chassis are also part of the platform. It's important for you to pay attention to the modularity here. What does modularity include? It means that everything has become modular. Being modular means that it has a certain shape and must include specific components, but unlike traditional designs, it allows for adding and removing parts according to the model. For instance, there are battery modules, power system modules, usability modules, and chassis reliability modules. Modularity allows for the insertion and removal of different components. Just like with Google Pixel phones, you can choose the CPU and the integrated graphics chipset based on the version.

You can change the components, including the memory. The storage capacity and camera can also be changed depending on the options. This allows you to customize your smartphone according to your preferences. Initially, it was designed with the idea that you could create your own smartphone, but it turned out that the marketability was low, and it was a very challenging problem, so it wasn't successful. Therefore, the modular concept is like a modular chassis. Instead of a modular house design, it's about digital design, allowing for quick changes to supply products that match customer needs in a fast automotive manufacturing environment. This is what we aimed to achieve with the EGMP. We put a lot of thought into this. First, the rear mounting energy absorption zone of the back beam is designed to induce deformation of all structures, including the body and chassis, to mitigate impacts. We need to check whether this part is designed in the 23 model.

This is something that needs to be seen; we cannot conclude definitively. If it is a structure that induces deformation in all components of the chassis and body to mitigate shock, then that would be a modular platform. Many people say that the Niro chassis is actually different; I compared the figures on parts websites, and they are all different. So, I'm curious whether the Niro body is based on the SD SG 2 and if they changed the design or if it was newly designed. However, I will be asking this on the official channel, but I doubt I will get a quick response. We also need to listen to the manufacturer's statements to understand. Just because the shapes are similar does not mean we can conclude that they used the same design. For now, since many of you are saying it looks just like the Hado, I agree with your opinions, even though I have no solid evidence to support that it's not the case.

However, the chassis of the Niro and the EV3 chassis are quite different. In this case, there isn't much difference between modifying the existing design and creating a new one. Of course, modifying is somewhat preferable, but even if you were to redesign it, it wouldn't require an extraordinary amount of effort or cost. So, while they may appear similar, the size of the cars and the front-wheel-drive system mean that there are many differences. This is something that can be discussed, so I encourage you to reserve judgment. In any case, the structure should induce the deformation of all structural elements, including the body and chassis, to mitigate any issues. As long as this element is included, it will work. The subframe, rear mounting, and dashboard have all implemented a structure designed to minimize the impact on the high-voltage battery from the load support area, using a structure that avoids impact. Whether this has been applied to the 23 model or not can only be determined by examining the structural design, so you shouldn't make any definitive conclusions.

There is no number. As I mentioned, there are no traces of simple recycling. It wasn't used as it is; if it had been modified, that would mean a certain level of engineering was involved. It may look similar, but if it was newly designed, then a new module that fits the specifications was introduced here. This can be seen as creating new options for the module. Furthermore, the protection area for the high-voltage battery has applied ultra-high-strength steel for safety. Additionally, to prevent deformation of the passenger compartment, which is the space for passengers, a filler load distribution structure has been implemented, and the connectivity between the front subframe and the body fender has been reinforced. The filler helps to disperse impact, and the connectivity between the front subframe and the body fender is strong. However, many people raise concerns about the subframe being an extension of the existing internal combustion engine vehicles.

You are judging solely based on the style, but anyway, the structure that enhances the connection of the front body to the subframe does not deviate significantly from a modular structure. You need to recognize that. So, simply looking at the material properties or connection structures does not clearly indicate what kind of results we will achieve; we need to conduct small overlap collision tests to find that out. Therefore, just because this looks the same as the previous model, if you look at the subframe of the Niro, you'll see that the shape is different. This indicates that it is not just a new collision distribution system being designed modularly; you can observe that difference. One of the most severe collision scenarios, the small overlap collision, requires that the engine room be safely protected from both sides.

We applied a connecting crossbar structure and increased the cross-section of the front side member to secure rigidity. To safely protect the battery from unexpected collisions, we actively used hot-stamping parts in the front and surrounding areas of the battery. Additionally, we applied aluminum extrusions inside the body side sills to enhance structural stability. Now, we need to take everything apart to see how the hot stamping is integrated. By incorporating aluminum extrusions in the lower section, we improve structural stability. These are issues that can only be understood by examining the battery. Such matters will likely come to light as the Monroe Live is exported globally. When the structures are analyzed and disassembled, we can make a judgment then. The center of the battery case is also connected to the body to efficiently absorb collision energy.

The structure has been established. This is an 8-point mounting system. This is different; it's something that gets caught up. When we were initially producing the video, we didn't consider that the 8-point mounting would need to be reduced for smaller models. We had to make this stand out as much as possible, which is a regrettable aspect. Looking ahead to about three years, if it's released by 2023, the body size will be around 4.3 meters, and the width has also been reduced. Therefore, the battery's BSA needs to be narrower and a bit longer, and we have to design it that way. The area available for mounting the battery on the vehicle itself doesn't exceed that, so even if we reduce it to five points, it wouldn't significantly compromise stability. The simulation results must have indicated that there wouldn't be issues with crash stability, which is likely why it was applied. However, since this is different, it raises a concern.

It's about making something. So, there is a bit of a lack of explanation regarding this part. That's right, it's insufficient. Looking at this, it can be confusing. The design reflects the characteristics of a dedicated electric vehicle, such as the short overhang and the extended wheelbase. If you look here, it also includes the design that emphasizes the electric vehicle characteristics, like the extended wheelbase and short overhang. So, let's see, modularity, performance, reliability, usability, and design all come together. The meaning contained in this platform is incredibly broad, right? If we limit this explanation to just the vehicle, from a developer's perspective, it must have been truly frustrating. They can't speak out, so they have to keep quiet. Even for tech enthusiasts like us, it doesn't matter which manufacturer it is, but still, we find ourselves wondering, What does this even mean?

You might have wanted to avoid the dishwater, but at the same time, we maximized the passenger space while ensuring customer collision safety and battery reliability. This exclusive GMP electric vehicle offers innovative interior space, providing customers with a new experience in electrified mobility. The large air conditioning system that was previously in the interior has been replaced by the engine's motor and relocated to the newly available space, which has expanded the passenger area in the front seats. Now, the size of the EV's air conditioning system has significantly reduced, resulting in a much larger lower area. You should pay attention to this; the EGMP features aim to maximize space by minimizing existing components such as air conditioning devices and evaporators, as well as the motor assembly. This way, the space left by the absence of the powertrain engine has been efficiently utilized.

It’s unclear whether this was changed or redesigned, but a similar-looking chassis has been introduced. When looking at the features of this chassis, it appears to have a wider space and a flatter floor, and we need to thoroughly check whether it is well-prepared for crash tests. This requires careful judgment. In any case, there are some differences, and the battery is at 8.

They said it would be mounted, but it has changed to five mounts. Also, it is based on a rear-wheel drive, but it is actually front-wheel drive. These are the differences. When the manufacturer explained this video, they predicted up to three years ahead, and for front-wheel drive, they explained it as front-wheel ewd. Regarding the battery, it is an 8-module system, but for a smaller model, like the 4.3g war, it would go in with a five-mounting system. Then, the chassis can be newly developed or modified to fit the chassis size. If such explanations were included, there would have been less confusion. However, there was no such explanation, so here, Hyundai's consideration seems to have been lacking. It seems they couldn't create this content with consideration for the next three years. Therefore, when Hyundai makes the new EVV3, there are several concepts related to EGMP that need to be addressed.

If you add that, the issue will be somewhat resolved. I'm observing, but what do you all think? Regarding the other points, why are there eight mounting points but only five mentioned? And why is there no mention of the front axle? These are things you need to consider and judge for yourselves, but you should first grasp the concept of the platform. What did Hyundai say from the beginning in the 2021 video? The first point was the modularity, which allows for easy insertion and removal. The second point is performance; the entire P system is included, along with the battery that controls it, which is the PA system. The third point is reliability and safety. Various structures have been applied; this isn't about creating a specific chassis but rather about reflecting a chassis design that has such structures. You need to see if that reflection has been made. Next, regarding usability, the value of V2L and various electric vehicle-specific features should be experienced.
