Just like we have KOSPI 200 in Korea, there is S&P 500 in the U.S. However, even if you try to invest well in the U.S. market, you can invest in ETFs listed in Korea such as Tiger U.S. Semiconductor and Kodex U.S. Semiconductor, or in the U.S. market, there are SPY IV and V, and 9, etc. Today, we will compare the differences between these two focusing on their differences. Since the terminology is not well organized, in today's video, we will refer to this side as domestic ETFs and this side as U.S. PF. The first advantage is tax efficiency. The movements of these two are very similar regardless of what you invest in. As they are estimated based on the S&P 500 index, as you can see, these two.

The movements on the ETF chart are very similar, and what makes a difference in returns is the costs and taxes incurred after that. So, the movements shown by KF itself are very similar. Therefore, we cannot simply say that one is better than the other, such as choosing between a mate and a mullet or between Yumite and Suwe. So, the first return rate is similar. Second is the trading cost. In order to have an ETF, we need to pay these costs. When buying this TF, there is a purchase commission. While holding the ETF, there are management fees and when selling the tape, there is a sales commission plus other costs. In the case of US ETFs, there is an additional foreign exchange fee. Now, let's take a look at domestic ETFs. There are hardly any purchase commissions. While holding them, there are management fees. The SMP 500 is 0.3% and the KOSDAQ 500 is.

In this camp, we invest in U.S. futures with a derivative of U.S. stocks, so when exchanging futures within this tape, there is a cost called roll-over cost that is incurred regularly. And usually, when investing in overseas ETFs, they hedge the currency risk. ETFs themselves spend a little on internal costs to minimize the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the price of the ETF. You don't have to worry much because you are purely trying to follow the movement of the S&P 500. On the other hand, if you buy a USD-based ETF, it's completely different. This is what we mean by being exposed to exchange rate fluctuations. Some see having exposure to a single currency this year as an advantage, while others see it as a disadvantage because they are affected by unnecessary USD-KRW exchange rate fluctuations. If you have it, you can feel the burden. In that case, it can also be seen as a disadvantage. Personally, I think investing in dollars is closer to an advantage. In terms of exchange rates, they are completely opposite. You can think like this. Domestic ETFs follow the KOSPI index, while U.S. ETFs move with the S&P 500 plus the dollar exchange rate. If you think that the movement of the won-dollar exchange rate is directly related to your investment, then if the S&P 500 index rises by 5% and the won-dollar exchange rate falls by 1%, the domestic ETF would have risen by 5%, and the U.S. ETF would have yielded 4%. Next is the fourth tax. This makes the biggest difference. First, like Tiger Codex or Arirang, if you invest in overseas assets through domestic ETFs, dividends are subject to the same 15.4% income tax. What's unique is that there is also a capital gains tax on trading.

When it comes to income tax, it may be difficult to understand the concept of a 3-tier tax rate, but let me explain it in an easy way. Among the two types of income, capital gains from buying and selling stocks and VT funds, you pay 15.4% on the smaller amount. To understand it intuitively, think that you also pay 15.4% on the stocks you buy and sell. Both of these incomes are financial incomes, so they are subject to comprehensive taxation on financial income. If you are someone who receives a lot of interest or dividends, you need to consider including them as well. Next is SPY Live ETF and similar US ETFs. For US ETFs, you do not calculate taxes separately. For the portion exceeding 2.5 million won in annual gains, you will pay a 22% capital gains tax. Whether it's US stocks or US ETFs, they fall under the same category.

Dividends are distributed, and these dividends are subject to withholding tax at a rate of 15.4%. Similarly, even on a fun Friday, everyone is included in the crowd. When dealing with U.S. ETFs, you need to be careful about comprehensive taxation on financial income. We cannot avoid the tax part, so we need to take care of what we need to focus on. If you invest in domestic ETFs, you need to have both trading profits and dividends under 20 million won. Just check if the total exceeds 20 million won. When it comes to U.S. ETFs, you should consider profits from trades. If the profit realized this year exceeds 2.5 million won, you should include it. When it comes to losses, combine them with other domestic items and check if it exceeds 20 million won. This is the fifth discrepancy rate. Ultimately, the best way to avoid the genre is to trade this tape with very high trading volume. If you check the recent trading volume, the Tiger SMP 500 averages 311 million won per day in April, while CodeX in November is around 12 billion won and Arirang is around 4 billion won. In fact, the trading volume is quite low, so when we choose this tape, if the spread is quite wide, even if we buy at the market price, there is a possibility of buying at a higher price. In the U.S., with ETFs, you can invest in a large market without discrepancies. Although you have to pay a transfer tax, the management fee of ETFs is very low. To summarize briefly, if you want to start investing in overseas markets at a level that does not exceed 200,000 won even if you have an investment of 200,000 won, domestic ETFs are good. If your investment exceeds 300,000 won and you want to start long-term investment seriously, U.S. ETFs are good. If you think paying a dividend income tax of 15.4% is more advantageous than paying a transfer tax of 22%, you should consider domestic ETFs. For those who consider separation more important than tax rates, U.S. ETFs are suitable. If you feel like you don't need to consider anything, then feel free to choose.
