4-day, 5-night trip to Shanghai. Hello everyone. Now I'm in Shanghai, China. Me, Happysaea, your travel fairy, is back after a long time!

While preparing for my trip to Shanghai, I struggled a bit since Google Maps doesn't work in China, and the travel information was very limited.

Nonetheless, as an 8-years-travel YouTuber, I diligently researched the local hot spots and visited some good restaurants.

I hope this video will help you as you plan your Shanghai itinerary, so I tried hard to shoot a good video!

This was my first time in Shanghai as well. What surprised me the most during my trip was that the city felt like Europe and New York, really clean and beautiful!

You will probably fall deeply in love with the charm of beautiful Shanghai too. I stayed in the center of Shanghai, near 'the Bund, Waitan', where you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, just as a reference.

day 1 📍长乐川式面馆(中凯城市之光店) The first place I visited as soon as I arrived in Shanghai for my first meal was a 'Majiang Mian' restaurant.

It's a popular spot where locals come for lunch (still not famous among foreigners). They serve fried noodles and beef noodles, that kind of noodle dishes.

There aren’t any menus in Korean or English. I ordered these items I circled, and the Chengdu Dan Dan Noodle (成都担担面) that wasn’t on the menu.

This is the Chengdu Dan Dan Noodle (23 yuan = about 4 USD). Whoa, it looks so delicious.

They said it's very tasty when mixed gently with the mala sauce at the bottom. This is the restaurant's signature dish, beef noodle soup (热气黄牛肉面) (58 yuan = about 10 USD).

This is the spicy sauce mixed noodles with stir-fried tripe (掌中宝麻酱拌面) (38 yuan = about 6 USD).

The smell was sweet and savory; it looked delicious. So I snatched some of my friend's Majiang Mian.

- Oh? The noodles are cooked 'Al Dente.' - The sauce is at the bottom. - It tastes like mala stir-fried noodles.

- Is the mala taste strong? - No, it's mild. Here, all the dishes are mala-based.

I guess it’s similar to how Korean food is garlic-based. I'm tasting it with a chopstick... My friends start sharing the noodle from both sides, hahaha.

In the meantime, the noodles were really chewy and delicious. Trying beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup was really spicy and tasty.

Strong mala flavor. Now it's time for my dan dan noodles. - I think Koreans should order dan dan noodles.

Oh, it's really delicious ㅠㅠ The salty flavor is just right ㅠㅠ Unlike the Majiang noodles, the mala flavor is much stronger.

It's a stir-fried dan dan noodle without soup, so the chewy noodles really stand out.

It's scrumptious! And everyone here except us seems to be local, so it seems like a real local favorite.

However, all the dishes have a mala flavor, so those who enjoy mala will love it, but I recommend that those who dislike Sichuan pepper and mala go somewhere else.

But we liked it! 📍星巴克臻选·上海烘焙工坊 The place we arrived at after walking for a bit is the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, the second largest Starbucks Reserve in the world.

Alright, let's start from the first floor. There is a massive open roasting machine that is only available at Reserve Roastery locations.

Oh, this really reminds me of New York; they have something like this too (it's also in Tokyo). But it looks cool with the Chinese characters written on this barrel.

Shall we take a look at the Shanghai Starbucks merchandise? The reason we come to Starbucks while traveling is to check out the city merchandise, right?

Reserve Roastery locations have their own cups. This one is the Milan cup. This one is the New York cup.

This one is Tokyo. The Chicago cup features the skyline of Chicago. This one is Seattle. There isn't a Shanghai cup yet, but it’s said to be coming soon.

But personally, I didn't find the Shanghai merchandise that attractive 🥹ㅋㅋ On the second floor, next to the window, there is a bar serving whiskey and cocktails.

It was pretty, but we didn’t drink anything, because we had to drink milk tea instead on the way to Jangwon, a trendy spot in China.

There's a very popular milk tea place these days, Chagee (霸王茶姬).

📍CHAGEE 霸王茶姬(吴江路店) It started in Kunming, Yunnan Province, and now has nearly 5,000 stores across China.

As soon as you enter the store, there's a very nutty aroma. Everyone is wearing masks with Christian Dior patterns, which seems to be their signature.

Orders can be placed using a QR code on the app. The staff told us that 'Jasmine Green Milk Tea' is the top choice, and 'Longjing Milk Tea' is second.

Since there were a bunch of Koreans deliberating, they offered us a taste. Taking a sip, it was really delicious.

It's quite sweet but doesn't leave a thick residue in my mouth; it's refreshing and clean-tasting. This is why people come here~ After finishing the last sip, I'll have this one, Longjing Milk Tea.

The receipt is very pretty, and the cup looks nice too.

Enjoying milk tea while strolling in Changyuan. Changyuan is a place with charming cafes, restaurants, and many pop-up stores.

Since the streets are all brick buildings, it's great for taking pictures while walking around. I took a photo with my friends from Happysaea tour.

This time, we took a taxi to 'Yuyuan' located in the east of Shanghai. Taxi fares in Shanghai are not expensive, so taking a taxi isn't a burden when the distance is unclear.

It is essential to link Alipay or WeChat Pay to call a Chinese taxi, Didi.

I’ll try to make a video next time with travel tips for China, including how to activate Alipay. Now, you can see the traditional style roofs in the distance.

We have arrived at Yuyuan, a garden built 400 years ago. It is now filled with various shops, but it originally belonged to a Ming dynasty official's private garden.

You can see beautiful buildings and fountains without entering after paying the entrance fee.

This spot is a great photo spot. However, it gets really crowded, so I took a quick photo and moved to a side alley.

The must-visit place here is Nanxiang Mantou, a dumpling shop. It seems they sell dumplings that are as big as a large plate.

📍 南翔馒头店(城隍庙店) It's located right next to the lake where we just took pictures, along the main road.

If you go up the stairs, the store is quite spacious. I heard that there used to be long lines to eat here.

(As of 4:30 PM) Surprisingly, the line for takeout is longer than for dining in, so I decided to come inside.

Even though it’s a dumpling shop, they have a variety of dishes. Oh, the pork dim sum looks so cute.

I ordered the signature super steamed bun, the king dumpling Xiaolongbao (42 yuan ≈ 6 USD).

The Xiaolongbao, filled with warm soup, is originally from Shanghai. The characteristic of this place is to insert a straw and drink the soup.

One bite! It has crab meat inside, making the soup taste like seafood broth. I thought it would taste like regular pork Xiaolongbao, but it is full of crab flavor.

The taste of the dumplings is different from what I imagined. I can't say these dumplings are life-changing or legendary, but I think they are worth trying because they have a really unique flavor and are the original for xiaolongbao.

It will be your first time drinking dumplings through a straw. 😉 After eating, I noticed the atmosphere as the sun began to set.

The night view of Yuyuan with the lights coming on in the surrounding buildings is really, really beautiful.

We looked around the street shops until sunset and took some night photos once it got dark. Now it's time to head for dinner.

Dinner on the first day is lamb skewers. This is a lamb skewers place that even people who usually can't eat lamb can enjoy without the bad smell of sheep.

📍 很久以前羊肉串(南京路第一百货店) The lamb skewers place "Henjiu Yiqian" is inside the Shanghai No. 1 Department Store.

Wow, they look so delicious! Once you sit down, they give you a hair tie and an apron. "Is this supposed to go on my forehead?" "Yes, because the heat is coming." "Oh, the cool pack is amazing!

" This place even gives you a cool pack (so fascinating).

We can order by marking it on the menu, and it's also written in Korean. Since we are five people, we ordered four servings of lamb skewers (about 112 yuan = 20 USD per person).

The staff member brought it and served it directly to us. The crispy, oily lamb skewers are cooking. This is a sour stir-fried pickled cabbage to eat when it gets greasy.

This one was translated as "being baked in foil"... I ordered it since it was a signature menu, but lol... it was a little bit disappointing...

All I need is lamb skewers and beer! The plump lamb meat easily comes off the skewer. If you dip it into the sha cha sauce +_+ and eat it, "Wow, this is my first time having such tender lamb skewers?

" Actually, as a lamb skewer lover, it was so nice.

It's so tender and delicious. "I think this is the softest lamb skewers I've had recently." "That's right!" After eating like that, they also give dessert ice cream... It's crazy... It's a small milk ice cream, but I was very grateful.

Day 2: As a Disney fan, I went for the Disneyland opening run, and by the time I came back after it closed, there weren't many restaurants open, haha.

In times like this, our savior is Haidilao, which opens until 7 AM!

📍 Haidilao Hot Pot (Shimao Plaza Branch) It's a flavor we all know, but I carefully choose the broth first.

Two spicy, mushroom mild, and tomato broth. - Should we go for regular spicy or mala spicy? - No, no, no, let's go classic so it doesn't numb my mouth.

And I roughly picked the ingredients I usually eat... - The amount is no joke. - This is also two portions...

I ordered just one portion, so two came out... The order unit is... one is "half", and "portion" means two...

The table next to us has also turned into a mushroom farm... - I thought they’d only give half if I order a "half"... haha Hahaha, we can eat a lot... haha Because in Chinese Haidilao, it's a party place where everyone can eat and drink to their heart's content, haha Around twelve o'clock, they started celebrating birthdays at every table.

We can't lose, so we quickly threw together a birthday party too.

Day 3. The third day starts together with Shanghai's people on their way to work. Today we're going to take the subway a little further.

In China, there are several 'water villages' built on canals. The closest one to downtown Shanghai is this place, Panlong Tiandi.

It's just a short walk from Exit 2 of Line 17 at Panlong Road Station. This is not a traditional water village, but a shopping complex, Xintiandi, created to feel like a water village.

So it looks like a traditional house, but there are neat new building shops lined up along this artificial canal. And here is a Blue Bottle store with a really nice view.

📍 Blue Bottle Coffee (Panlong Tiandi Branch) It looks like an ordinary Blue Bottle, but It's located in the middle of Panlong Tiandi, so the window seats are very pretty.

Since the weather was hot, I had coffee ice cream (38 yuan = about 6 USD).

Menu prices are a bit more expensive than in Korea. But it's pretty, so I acknowledge it! Having finished my caffeine infusion, I decided to take a quick look around.

It's quite different from the common image we have of China and has a very peaceful atmosphere. But haha, there’s also an ear cleaning shop hidden inside! Haha Still, there are really a lot of cute shops.

This rabbit standing in the tea shop was really pretty. 📍 Blanbunny 布兰兔 - Okay, set a timer for 15 minutes.

- When the time's up, just come out even if you can't buy anything. - You have to come out no matter what, lol.

A special time attack for us, who take 30 minutes every time we shop. Inside, it was full of pretty and cute things.

Based on 'Alice in Wonderland,' they were selling beautifully packaged teas. - Oh my, this is crazy ㅠㅠ Is it really locked like this?

It's perfect for gifting. - Please open it just once. 248 yuan = about 35 USD for this pretty item.

There were many types of tea, and we could taste them too. It was delicious as well. Oh, this one is really fragrant.

Light green container // Tastes like green tea and isn't sweet, but the scent is refreshing like Shine Muscat, which was nice.

- Is this decaffeinated? They told me it's 脱咖啡因 (Tuō kāfēi yīn) (A little Chinese study during the break).

She said all the fruit teas are decaffeinated. - Excuse me, what is this? I decided to try it because the purple one's scent feels delicious.

- It's grape. The aroma isn't overwhelming, but the taste is sweet, so I think I can drink it without getting tired of it.

This is not the best selling, but I will buy the grape. For reference, this one is number one, Rum Fruit Tea (red can).

Second is orange (pink can). Third place is grape (purple can). Peach Oolong (blue can) is fourth place.

The square can is 98 yuan = about 14 USD, the round can is 55 yuan = about 8 USD.

I bought it~ Successfully completed the time attack 🎉 Now I’m going to have lunch on a pretty terrace.

📍 Tapa Tapa (上海蟠龙天地店) - Is it for ten people?

- Yes, 我想坐 there. I’m embarrassed by my Chinese skills... lol Since there were 10 people, we split in half but got to sit where we wanted.
