All right, today we're going to take a look at this really cool program called Photoshop. We're looking at a brand new

program that lets you manipulate images. Adobe, is that how you say it? Maybe it's Adobe. Adobe. Adobe.

Adobe. Actually, I don't know. Really? Adobe?  How the heck do you say this damn company

name? A big booby? Jesus Christ! A booby? That's disgusting! Hello, my name is Lord Wilmington.

Um, today I just wanted to make a video about Photoshop. Right now, you all know that Adobe charges €4,000 a week

to use, like, one app. It's not really economical if you're a student or you live in a one-bed flat in Brixton; you

don't have any income. So it's not very viable to keep paying that, especially if you want to start your own

freelance career, graphic design stuff like that. And I was just thinking, why don't I just use the very first

Photoshop version that I used 15 years ago, Photoshop 7.0? And you can still download it, and it

still works on Windows 11, and it's basically free because it's been abandoned; like, no one cares. Like, who's

going to use it? I want to see if I can recreate a thumbnail that I usually do for a video in that, instead of the newer

2025 version. And if I can, then it just proves there's literally no point in paying for the new one. So let's open it

up and see how amazing the UI is. So, as you can see, it loaded in like 1 millisecond, cuz it didn't have any

features; it didn't have any AI stuff; it didn't have um, anything really. Why is my camera so...

Hold on. Here it is. Here is Photoshop 7.0. It was released in 2002, I believe it was.

Really good! I use it to make just random thumbnails for videos. And why is my name "Idiot Weed"? I forgot I named it Idiot.

Weed preferences, memory available RAM... well, that's not true. Oh, maybe it was 32-bit. I definitely don't have 2 GB of RAM. The thumbnail

we're going to make is this image. I did it for the other video. Not too complicated; it's got some images, another

image, image, got some text with a stroke, different colors, image there. It's pretty simple. That was it, a bit of like

a glare here. Try that. Let's make a new comp. I don't even know if the shortcuts work... does work.

All the legal document things... I just do pixels, pixels. Let's do 4K. Wow, that is ugly! These old arrows... well, it's not even

an arrow, so I can't dock anything. No biggie. You can't extend it either, so it's basically just like in

the corner there. It doesn't really do anything. This... oh, okay, that worked. Oh, zooming is inverted! That is absolutely disgusting!

Why would it be like that? So we have layers, channels; they're all there. Paths are there, that's fine. Never used history.

Didn't really care about actions, to be honest. Tools, swatches are there, Styles... I don't

really care about. Navigator, info... yeah, that's all there. Why is it so ugly? Come on, Adobe! Oh, where's my... where's my

ruler guides? Oh, the rulers are there. Yeah, you can't drag stuff in. I mean, you can,

but then it just does that, which is really weird. If I do... what? Oh, well, you can... okay, never mind.

Show bounding box, that's fine. Zooming is very bad; it's so laggy. 2 GB of RAM? Okay, let's see if I

can change the layer sizes palette. Yeah, you can do that. Background? I don't need it. Delete doesn't work; I have to

Manually press it. Okay, okay. Here is the image. It is so laggy, right? Let's see if we can do an

image from selection or layer. New layer, Ctrl+C, you can... yeah, it's been there for like 20 years. I can't delete the layer

though with a delete key. Let's try some masking now. Apply... Oh, I didn't make it a

smart object. Oh, that doesn't exist. You can't do smart objects. Okay, well, that's the first thing that doesn't

know? And I've been mainly using it for Photoshop and After Effects sessions, and it's just really comfortable. Like, it

doesn't make any noise, squeaking. It's literally like real metal, like real physical, earth elements used to build it,

or some cheap plastic from B&Q that you found in a ditch. Like, yeah, that's about it. Check them out in the description below.

Now, back to whatever I was doing. I forgot actually. Yeah, masking works. There you go. That's another thing you don't

Need to worry about masking. Uh, let's try adjustment layers. You're kind of screwed with adjustments; you can't do a smart

object, so like everything you do has to be final already, unless you just do a really brief contrast. So what I've done

is just applied it to only this layer, with alt-clicking on the line in the middle. If you just see that little

thing there, I don't know what that is. Shift... Let's try text. Okay, text is the big

one. Can you even... does it even show any of the thoughts I have? Oh, it does. Code FPS. Can you align it? Yes, you

can. Code FPS game in five minutes. Now we're going to align it center, and then... not that. Do that, and then we're going to

make the five... Notice how the text is actually responsive, like Photoshop. The new one, doing this highlighting, is

just so laggy for no reason. Can I drag it? No. Okay, manually. Cheers. 120. That's not bad. Can I do faux...

Is it f...? Oh my God, I can do that as well. Let's make this yellow. Color Picker is actually not

laggy. Let's add a stroke. Everything's here. Everything has basically been unchanged in like 20

years, because like I swear to God, even the radial blur dialogue... look, I guarantee it, it's still the same here.

Watch. There, it's the same dialogue for 20 years, man. It looks the same. Some tiny little thing you can't

even see where the blur is happening, like the radial blur. You can't even see where the direction's going. Make it

black, like that. Looks exactly the same. Drag it in, I guess. Yep. Holding control... uh, shift alt does uniform scaling. Same thing, although

I've... I think I've inverted it like that. Adjustments with alt... Oh my God, you can... Why do you need the new... the new

Photoshop. This does everything that the other one does. I need to add that image of me. Okay, let's try masking with a

brush. Shift, shift, shift, shift. New mask, invert. Control I inverts. Then, if I want to mask it with a

brush, it's got more brushes than the new one. Okay, say I want to just do that a little

bit, tweak it. Done. Here's the eBay logo. We are going to scale it down, rotate it. So if I want to add image

adjustments, black and white... doesn't have it. Does not have it. No warping. Oh well. Can we do

shapes? Yeah, the other shapes have handles to affect the, uh, the roundness of it, so that doesn't work well. It

doesn't exist at the moment. I don't know what that is. Okay, that's the only thing that's a

bit crap. And finally, let's do some text. That's probably the easiest thing to do, idiot. So if I do that, that's pretty good.

Opacity down to like 30. That's literally it. And then you just do some adjustments for this. That... let's do a levels for

everything. I mean, I know it sucks, but I just want to see if it does work. I've just done everything I would normally do

in a 20-year-old program, and and it can do it. Right, lose the levels a bit. Sorry, let me lose the levels a bit, so

this is one I did in Photoshop 2025, and this is the one I did just now in Photoshop 7.0, a 20-year-old piece of

software. What is the difference, apart from it looking a bit jaggy there? I just did mostly everything for

free, right? It's free. You can download it on Internet Archive. I'll give you the link in the description. It's it's it's a

bit laggy, but it just does everything that the new one does. You don't even need to pay like $5,000 a year for um...

Creative Cloud, creative thunderstorm, or something. You can't feather the brushes; there are some things that are missing.

Like some filters, but who cares? Like, if you're doing just basic thumbnails, you can just do it in this if you know...

Photoshop. It's the same; it's Photoshop, but just from 20 years earlier. Yep. Does it really slowly, though. Like I'd

recommend if you're just doing thumbnails or you're just doing random stuff that just needs JPEG, this... this can

do JPEG. So, so yeah, guys, um, that's pretty much the video. I just wanted to see if it worked, and it does work really well, so
