talana Exiles, welcome to another Path of Exile 2 video. Path of Exile 2 is being designed by these guys. Its development is headed by this guy, and the game is trying to capture the much sought-after attention of this dude right here, and this guy right there, and this gal right here, alongside all these other people right here, plus these two people right here, all while remaining both a spiritual successor to this Legendary game released in 2000, and this beloved game that's been in development for years and years. At the same time, Path of Exile 2 is supposed to compete against this AAA game funded by one of the largest corporations to ever exist, and a recently released game created by Gamers for gamers that is far more Innovative and entertaining than many thought possible, plus there's all these other games in the space that are amazing, good, bad, and mad. How are Path of Exile 2 and the masterminds behind the game, Grinding Gear Games, going to achieve this? How am I going to keep your attention for the

entirety of this video. And how are they going to design a game to be for everyone when it definitely will not be for everyone? Well, my fellow Exiles, it's time for another pe2 video essay here on talkative try. I have a tremendous amount of experience with this game and all the content and discourse around it. I've quite the inkling on how it shall impact the arpg drawn and the broader games industry, and I'd like to discuss this just today. Oh, wait, as I was delving deep into this topic, I found something else, something to treasure, something to use, something to prepare us for hours and hours of poe2 gameplay. In the lead-up to Path of Exile 2, mining out one of these might not be a bad idea, even if it requires you to mine a little deeper than usual. I get it. First and foremost, Grinding Gear Games learns from absolutely everything they learned from other games they've played outside their super niche genre. I'm talking about stealing the damage numbers from one of the biggest hits of the decade, Elden Ring. I'm referencing the original passive skill tree system from Final Fantasy 10. I'm pulling from all the leagues they made in POE1, from the controversies of Blight and Tower Defense leagues to the oddly calming auto-battler in Trial of the Ancestors. Then, once they've exhausted ideas and learnings from other games and genres outside their own, they look inside of their own genre. Sometimes they admit when they do this. For example, they've learned that people would really like an auto buyout trading system thanks to the reception of Last Epoch's Merchant Guild faction. Players do not want to be forced

to directly interact with players at all times. When it comes to trade, sometimes it's fine, but many times it's just too cumbersome. Sometimes, though, Grinding Gear Games doesn't admit when they politely lift from the success of other ARPGs. When Jonathan was recently asked in an interview with Pure Diablo if they learned anything from the development and launch of Diablo 4, there wasn't anything that came to his mind except that cementing the vision they already had for Path of Exile 2. I do think there's truth there, of course, but D4 also had some successes that likely drove some PE2 decisions. For example, they have a huge console market. PE2 now has a dedicated console team and even a console game director. Additionally, they designed a unique UI for consoles. They added couch Co-op into the game and improved the controller experience as much as possible, with promises to make further optimizations, just as Diablo 4 has done. There's got to be some inspiration from Diablo 4 there. Then, of course, there's all the learnings from

over a decade of developing path of XL1, and constantly broadening the scope of pee2, they realized pee2 was going to be far too different to pee1. So, they split it out to preserve and continue to develop pee1 alongside pee2. Instead of changing a game people love for what it is, they upped the number of character classes from 7 to 12, each owning a unique identity and a set of three ascended classes. They added gold to the game as a way to keep rewards coming, replacing the item quantity blow that has plagued pee1 for many years. And they've done much, much more. Here, many of these self-teachings were also ideas brought up at some point by the Pue Community too. G has a great relationship with most players who craft content for their game, so much so that they fly them out to events for a game that hasn't yet released. I was lucky enough to be flown out to both pee2 events that have happened thus far this year, and in both, the Developers I spoke to took all my

suggestions, critiques, and enjoyments to Heart. They don't bat the ideas to the side or brush them off. Even if much of what I said was probably rubbish, they listened. They tried to understand, then they went back to their New Zealand development studio and thought about all the bits of knowledge and innovations discussed. If something merits being changed, added, or removed, they listen. Like the slight reversal of flasks in PE2 and making them less friction-inducing, or the addition of compelling seeded drops and random encounters throughout the PE2 campaign. These learnings sculpt PE2 into a game that is more appealing to a broader audience, all while maintaining much of the depth that most people came to love in the first installment of the franchise. They're going for the best of both worlds here. They're going to grab a bunch of people who never would have fallen in love with the first one and turn them into avid players of this unique type of ARPG. Everything they've learned from years of crafting content.

watching other developers and speaking with players only reinforce what they're actually making content-wise for Path of Exile 2. Which is what we're discussing next. PE2 will launch with a sixa campaign, with dozens of areas, over 100 unique bosses, and over 600 unique monster types. The entire campaign is voice-acted, from the NPCs we interact with to each of our characters who interact not only with each new area but various interesting beast enemy characters and even objects on the ground. It's a huge step up from Path of Exile one's storytelling and campaign quality. And even if people don't leap straight into the endgame, it's quite likely playing through the story will be well worth it. In PE2, directly after the campaign ends, players are thrust into PE2's endgame. Presently, it's shrouded in mystery, although we know it shall be heavily inspired and contain the meat and bones of PE1's currently beloved endgame structure. As with PE1, it shall be a mapping system using the monsters.

bosses and tile sets of the campaign in a far more challenging setting. In addition to endgame only Pinnacle bosses, reused bosses will have new abilities. Arenas will be structured differently, monsters will have creative modifiers, and there will also be brand new content available at endgame that wasn't present in any of the previous six acts. Revamped and improved leagues transferred from pe1 to pu2. Again, we're not certain on which League she'll make the cut from pee1 to pee2, but we do know everything beloved and worthwhile will eventually land in the game. Most of them will be endgame activities as to not bloat the sixa campaign and overwhelm players as they reach the Pinnacle of content. Universally praised League mechanics like delve, which is the infinite pursuit of Loot and azerite deep into a dungeon in pee1, will likely be in. So will unique leagues like Heist, wherein we work with various Rogues to snatch valuable artifacts and wear items from dastardly

individuals, I hope vest and its colorful beasties will make the cut, but I am doubtful. For the time being, this is a ridiculous amount of content to play, even at launch. More than enough to wow any potential gamer turned to Exile. By the way, have I not yet mentioned that all this, the sixa campaign, the expansive end game, and all the new leagues, have only a single barrier to entry? It's actually playing the game, that's it. [Music] The biggest draw for many might just come down to one thing that nearly every gamer understands: the cost of Entry. Path of Exile 2, like its predecessor, will be entirely free to play. You will be able to experience every ounce of the game's content without paying a penny, a pound, a piece of gold, whatever. That's a huge Plus in many people's eyes. It's a massive free trial. Then, if you'd like to spend some money on it, you can on Cosmetics like armor sets, Hideout set pieces, custom skill effects, and more.

if you'd like to set up your account permanently, you can drop $60 to grab all the stash tabs you'll ever need. Then you'll never actually need to pay again for convenience. But don't worry if you ever played Path of Exile 1, bought stuff there, and would like to try PoE2 out. All your bought microtransactions transfer over free of charge. This includes all your stash space. The same can be said if you buy something in PoE2 and would like to use it in PoE1. You can do that too. In a world where money is tighter and tighter, Path of Exile 2's fair monetization model will bring in a ton of new players who will be flabbergasted a game of this quality is free to play, and they'll stick around forever more to play over and over again. League after League, character after character. We've already discussed how much content will be in the game, but even with a titanic amount of different game modes, endgame bosses, and routes through the game, players should still

run out of things to do right wrong. Path of Exile 2 will boast even better replayability than its forbearer, which was absolutely jammed with character options. Much like our universe or my hype, PE2 replayability will be infinite. The game will launch its 1.0 release with 12 character classes: the monk who specializes in combos, quarterstaffs, and unarmed strikes; the ranger who is an expert in Bow-based combat and poisons; the warrior whose skills revolve around carrying a mass mace; the Druid who embodies shape-shifting and nature magic; the huntress who was the Amazon of Diablo I evolved to the modern day; the mercenary who is actually a gunslinger wielding crossbows; the Sorceress whose Elemental spells devastate the entire field of battle; the witch who raises gigantic hordes of minions, including any non-boss enemy in the game; The Marauder who clearly enjoys swinging axes of all shapes and sizes around in a rage; the Templar who should be the premier holy

class in all arpg with plays too the dualist a master swordsman and Navigant of War and the shadow peee 2's trap building dagger wielding dastardly Rogue archetype then remember all those skills and items might match up well with certain classes the only thing you are limited by with your class choice in Pue is your starving location on the tree and which set of three ascendancy classes you may choose there are no other limits you can be a monk who pursues a bare form you can be a warrior wielding the elemental Devastation usually skinned for a sorceress you can be a witch who might raise some zombies but she also wields a machine gun I I I mean crossbow then as I just mentioned there are ascendancy classes basically Prestige classes or archetypes special to each base class there are 36 in total three for each class in pe1 these had drastic mostly passive effect X on and changes to your character in P2 this

remains true, but grinding your games claims ascendancies will define your character even more, granting special skills, brand new options, and even visual changes to your character's appearance. On top of that, there's this skill tree right here with over 2,000 passive notes. Yeah, there will be quite a few paths through that. Then there are hundreds of skills to use and over 700 plus item base types and unique items for every single base type. Now, that's an infinite amount of customization. While it may sound a bit frightening to hear all this at once, new player or not, there's no need to tackle everything all at once. You can take it one character at a time. There's bound to be a play style for every single gamer out there, and grinding your games knows that. And fret not, because given the track record of grinding your games, there will be plenty of opportunities to play new characters in new league economies with brand new mechanics. Grinding games began developing Path of Exile 1 back in 2006. By 2010, they had an

alpha going by 2011, a closed beta then in 2012, an open Beta. In 2013, they officially launched the game with their 1.0 version marking the true beginning of their patch schedule. It took a few years to get a system down, but after moving from 1.0 to the substantial 2.0 expansion, which brought a ridiculous number of improvements to the game structure. In addition to a four-act, you could sense the confidence and power building within the devs. Then they moved from the 2.0 era to the current ERA of the game, the 3.0 age. As soon as 3.0 launched, bringing six more AXS to the game, everything changed. The quality of expansions went up, League mechanics were much more involved, art design was superb, the music was the same ridiculous quality as before, but there was more of it because expansions were developed and released every 3 to 4 months. Ever since the release of 3.0, August 4th, 2017.

they've kept up this insane release Cadence. Some expansions are definitely seen as more controversial and lower quality than others, but every expansion is unique, bringing new rewards, new content, new systems, and more importantly, new ideas and innovations to Path of Exile. The latest expansion is PoE 3.25. That means there have been 25 expansions since the 3.0 era began in 2017, or just under four expansions per year. Absolutely insane. Given a lot of the G devs also work on Path of Exile too, this wild update Cadence is bound to happen. With PU 2, the game may be experiencing delays, massive ones, but that's because once the game is out, they yearn to hit the ground running with this ambitious, seriously ridiculous content schedule. I've played many games over the years, such as over a decade of Guild Wars 2, hundreds of hours of Dota 2, dozens of persistent worlds, and Neverwinter Nights, and I've never witnessed such fervent, consistent development of a game for the

people who try this game out and experience the Cadence and quality of updates they'll become trapped. Their soul shall be grinding your games without a [Music] doubt. I may be prone to hyperbole, but only because in my heart of hearts I believe it to be true. Pee2 is the arpg to end all other arpgs, the game to end all games, at least for this dude right here, and I posit Legions of other Gamers out there in this world of ours. Grinding your games has learned from their own mistakes, the wins and losses of other developers, and exactly how to pull the best from other genres and adapt them to arpgs, all in the leadup to Pu2. On release, the game will be packed to the brim with content, an overflowing chalice worthy of any arpg player out there. Pu2 will be free to play with cosmetic microtransactions and stash tabs, but any purchases made in Pee1 will apply to Pee2 and vice versa. It's truly consumer-friendly while allowing G to be wildly

profitable. If they make a great game, which they will, it'll be endlessly replayable between the hundreds of skill gems, extra hundreds of support gems, 12 base character classes, 36 ascendancy classes, hundreds of unique items, and all the interesting situations meant to challenge players. Finally, PEW will have the incredulous update schedule set in stone by its predecessor, PU1, bolstered by consistent and quality expansions. Altogether, while Grinding Your Games is aiming to craft the perfect game for a very specific audience, those who enjoy a dark, gritty realm, incredibly designed and difficult boss fights, deep character customization, stellar moment-to-moment gameplay, and compelling item design. Everything they've done to broaden the horizons of the game will ensure hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of new players will try out UI2. They will hop into the world of Ray class for the first time and realize what they've been missing all along. Path of Exile 2 will not be perfect for everyone; however, far more players will match perfectly with it than the current perfect match.
