Hey, it's been a while! I'm planning to ride this from Seoul to Haenam. It's about 500 km to Dangguk Village in Haenam. I'm not sure how long it will take, but I'm going for it because it's fun. By the way, this is a manual scooter. Should I call it a manual? It's not electric; it moves by pushing with my feet. I've traveled 400 km from Taipei to Kaohsiung in Taiwan, 1,800 km from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and 2,000 km from Fukuoka to Sapporo in Japan. This time, I want to attempt a national journey from Seoul to Dangguk Village in Haenam. Since it's been almost a year since I last rode, I'm excited to see how far I can go and where I can reach. I want to gift a scooter to a child in Thailand who invited me to come. I hope they can ride it well. I just bought this one, and it's exactly the same.

I'm passing by Yeongdeungpo Elementary School. As the uphill begins, it's obvious that I can't ride here. At the end of the uphill, oh, what? I was still trying to ride, but it seems I have to pull it up to there. The great thing about a manual kickboard is that it's lightweight and small, making it easy to carry even when it's folded. I used to ride a bicycle, but it's definitely harder to carry around. You can fold it up and take it on the subway or the bus. Anyway, that's why I like this one. Now, I can see that I can go about 39 to 40 kilometers, which takes me to Suwon. I wonder if I can make it there. The escape is quick, so it's not dangerous, and the speed is about the same as a person running. This area is Guro Digital Complex, and I never really came here before, but now that I'm riding this, I get to explore this neighborhood. What I'm looking forward to in this trip is that, in fact, domestic travel doesn't have that much content.

서울에서 해남까지 가는 길은 사실 관광지가 많지 않지만, 우연히 들어가는 식당이나 만나는 사람들, 우연한 발견들이 기대가 됩니다. 우리나라를 구석구석 들여다보는 느낌이네요. 아, 신호가 바뀌었어요. 저 건물 특이하네요. 선플라자 게임, 옛날에 건즈 같은 게임에 나올 것 같은 건물입니다. 오랜만에 타니까 재밌네요. 킹 한민국 아니겠습니까? 여기 세워둬도 안 훔쳐가겠죠? 이게 풍형 이온이네요. 처음 봐요. 맛있네요. 깔끔한 포카리 맛, 포카인데 더 깔끔해요. 여기가 말미 사거리인데, 조금만 있으면 서울을 벗어나거나 안양 시로 진입할 것 같아요. 지금 계속 오르막이라 속도가 나지 않네요. 오, 채선당! 진짜 오랜만이에요. 옛날에는 정말 많았는데 요즘에는 잘 안 보이네요.

We are passing Seoksu Station. There is a huge tree in front of the station. I think we've just entered Anyang. The sun has come out. If you go about 20 kilometers from here, you will find Suwon. Today, I plan to go to Suwon. I need to eat something delicious. What should I eat? Suwon chicken? Galbi? I've never seen a Beakridang Road before. It's really abundant in our country. Oh, I can't resist coffee after a meal. It's a bit sweaty to eat inside the store. I can see the sign with Suwon on one side. It's about 5 km to the hotel from here. Ah, it's been a while since I came to Suwon, and it's beautiful. The sun is setting, and the fortress wall over there is impressive. There are hot air balloons and the river is flowing. I traveled about 40 km from Seoul to Suwon today. This is my place for the night. Ah, it's tiring since I haven't ridden in a while, but the lobby is clean. It's 80,000 won, which is reasonable. It's the weekend and a holiday, and it comes out to this price. On Google Maps, 80,000 won is actually a good deal, as others are around 90,000 to 100,000 won. The hallway is clean too. I wonder how my place will be. Oh, it's really nice! The bed is clean, and the carpeted floor is pretty. There are chairs and the refrigerator is decent too. The view shows a bit of the forest outside. Wow, this is great! How did I end up in Suwon?

I just got out of the shower and fainted right away. I'm so hungry. I was originally planning to go out and eat something, but since I'm in Suwon, which is famous for its galbi and fried chicken, and it's already 9 o'clock, I think I should order in. Where is the best fried chicken in Suwon? Kyocoon Chicken looks good, but since I'm in Suwon, I should try the local fried chicken. There's a place called Nammun Janghan Chicken that delivers; is it good? The chicken costs over 20,000 won. It's been a while since I ordered chicken in our country. It's quite expensive, plus the delivery fee. The smell is amazing! Wow, this is really a long-awaited treat. They even give you chicken gizzards as a service. You have to pour the sauce all over the chicken. And for the moment that cannot be missed with chicken, I drove 40 kilometers for this. Wow, this old-style fried chicken is such a delight. First of all, the fried chicken is delicious; the batter is crispy.

I'm looking forward to the seasonings. The sauce is... Today has become even hotter. The weather in our country is strange; it's autumn, but today we're leaving Suwon. Actually, it’s fun here in Seoul, but Suwon is kind of boring. It's a well-developed area with a lot of people. The road from here to Haenam is quite rare, and we'll encounter some countryside roads, so I'm excited about that. What is this? It's not the Louvre Museum, right? If you go about 30 kilometers from here, you reach Pyeongtaek, where there are delicious things to eat. I'm planning to go all the way there to eat that. Let's go! Oh, wow, there's a stream flowing here. The name of this road is Dorang-gil. The weather has completely changed. What’s the point of putting on sunscreen if it all just runs off? After sweating, I feel wet, so the air conditioning in the convenience store is a bit cold. Riding a kickboard consumes more energy than I expected. Among aerobic exercises, it’s quite significant, but in everyday life, I often feel very hungry when it’s time to eat. It’s been a while since I’ve been really hungry, so I’m eating to survive. 

I can now see the sign for Osan. This is my first time in Osan. I think I might have passed through by car before, but Dongtan definitely has a different vibe. Dongtan feels like a completely new city, while here feels more like a local area. 

Osan really has a lot of countryside and coffee shops. I’m from Gyeongsangdo, and when I was younger, I thought Gyeonggi-do was all urban. I couldn’t feel the difference between Seoul and Gyeonggi-do because everything was renovated, but I realize now that Gyeonggi-do has rural areas like this. I’m passing by Osan Station. Wow, I’ve finally entered Pyeongtaek!

I'm passing by the Jinwi Station. Oh, I can see some budae jjigae places one by one. Here is the Budae Jjigae House No. 1, and over there is the Choe Ne House Budae Jjigae. I'm sweating a lot, so I think I need to wash up first. Let's wash up and go eat. Today's place is located right in the entertainment district. Here is today's house. It's under construction. Today's house is 5,000 won. What? It's under construction. 

Why is this hanging here? There shouldn't be anyone around. Oh, wow. It's neat and spacious, and there's a bathtub in the bathroom. The view is of someone else's rooftop. In our country, there are three famous areas for budae jjigae, right? One is in Uijeongbu, and there's one here in Songtan. I wonder where the other one is. Anyway, there are three places, and I'm going to try the budae jjigae here in Songtan. I thought all budae jjigae would be pretty similar, but it turns out they differ quite a bit by region. Yes, this is the Songtan style.

I'm curious about what makes it special. I remember going to a place in Uijeongbu before and it wasn't that extraordinary. So, I'm half worried and half excited. I hope it's delicious. The name of the place, Choi's House, is quite unique. Usually, you’d see names like Choi's or something, but Choi's House is pretty famous. Oh, since 1969, it has been around for 50 years. I wonder if I can order just one serving; usually, budae jjigae is ordered in two servings. Oh, it seems like I can order just one. I don't want to feel disappointed if I only get a small portion, so that's good. I should add ham too. Ah, I need to get this as well. It has instructions on how to eat it; it says not to open the lid. They don't give you a plate, so you have to put the stew in the rice bowl and mix it to enjoy the flavor, according to the owner. After eating one serving of the stew, you should add ramen noodles. It's very detailed. Ah, I want to open it, but since it says not to, I have to hold back. I have a bit of a pride in kimchi, so I’ll eat the kimchi now and suddenly have a wrap.

I want to be honest; just looking at the visuals, it looks like two halves. When are we eating? Just now. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, time's up! The ingredients are spam and minced sausage. Wow, it’s really delicious. It’s not like spam or luncheon meat; it’s chewy, and you can really taste the meat. It’s tasty. It’s a bit different from the budae jjigae I’ve had before. It’s very appealing, and you have to follow the instructions here: put the stew in the rice bowl and mix it to enjoy the flavor. Wow, this is it! To be honest, budae jjigae tends to be similar, so I didn’t come with high expectations, but the broth is really rich, and the quality of the ham is good. Overall, it’s worth coming here on purpose to eat. I came here sweating, had a triangle kimbap, and since it’s my first meal, it might taste even better. Ah, I ate well! It’s tastier than I expected, but...

I didn't expect it, but I wanted to add ramen noodles. However, the portion was too much for me to eat alone. Interestingly, they gave me Shin Ramyeon noodles instead of the usual noodles. I noticed that people at the table were taking out the sauce and just putting in the Shin Ramyeon noodles. Even though Shin Ramyeon is expensive, it seems to taste better. I wonder why they insist on ordering Shin Ramyeon. There are quite a few foreigners here, too. Anyway, I traveled about 70 km from Seoul to Pyeongtaek.
