When you want to change lanes, it can be challenging to assess the speed of the car next to you. This is because, when you are looking at the other car, it is difficult to determine if it is getting closer or moving away. Speed and distance judgment cannot happen simultaneously. Therefore, if you stare at the side mirror for too long, your car tends to drift to one side quite often. You need to develop the ability to accurately check the side mirror first. So, keep your car going straight while looking at the side mirror.

Just take a look for about a second in front of you. Now, look for a second in front of you again. At this moment, the most important thing is to first determine whether there is a car next to me or behind me. I can see my car in the side mirror. My car is visible, and right next to it, I can see the lane line. The car next to that line is the other car. The car inside the line is my rear car. So, when you look at the side mirror, if you only focus on the cars, you might get confused about whether it's the car next to you or the one behind you. You realize, This one is faster than me, and you make your decision based on that. Now, in situations where you're getting pushed back like this, how should you change lanes? In a way, it’s also a bit of a game of intuition. If we just try to merge in by turning on our blinker, the cars next to us will most likely not yield. This is because they are driving closely behind the car in front of them, and their speed is slow. So, in these slower areas, it's essential to stick to one side first. If I want to change lanes to the left, then it's important for the driver to lean their body to the left. Naturally, when merging in, I need to turn on my blinker and make my move. If I want to go to the right, then the driver...

Place your body in the center. When you do that, the car tends to lean slightly to the right. So, if we want to merge in a situation like this, and I want to go left, you should base it on the driver's body. Usually, we are slightly to the left of the center. When merging left, feel like you're moving the driver's body a bit closer to the left line. Just make sure that the driver's body doesn't go over the line, but rather feels like it's sticking to the left side a bit. By doing this, even if I just slightly turn the steering wheel, I can merge in. If I try to go right, while moving like this, the distance is too far, and cars behind me will already be coming up. So, to move to the right, the driver's body should go to the center first.

If you turn, the car tends to lean to the right. This is obvious because the driver is on the left side, and the passenger seat is on the right side. Therefore, when the driver's body moves toward the center, the car will naturally lean a bit to the right. However, it does not tip over; almost all cars do not tip over. I’m not sure about the exceptions. Now, we are in a section where the speed is quite slow. In such sections, finding the right timing according to the speed is the most important thing. Right now, we are traveling at about 18 km/h, 17 km/h. In these situations, it’s essential to signal first and then assess the situation. In places with many lanes, some lanes are fast, and others are slow. Our car is moving slowly while the adjacent lane is a bit faster. It can be challenging to merge in such cases, so it’s better to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.

So now, I'll turn on the blinker and aim to move to the left. As I move over, I'll check the car behind me. Ah, the car behind is yielding. The car behind hasn't kept a close distance to the car in front. In this situation, I should turn on the hazard lights. The hazard lights mean thank you. The car behind has given enough way. 

When we change lanes, we shouldn't cause any inconvenience to others. Therefore, you need to judge speed and distance well. Let’s try entering the left lane again. Now, for our beginner drivers, it can be a bit difficult to see the right side through the side mirror, and changing lanes to the right can be challenging. It's understandable that it's hard because the side mirror is positioned farther from the driver, and you have to turn quite a bit to see. Additionally, the side mirror itself appears smaller compared to the left one, making it difficult to quickly judge speed and distance. This is because the driver is situated on the left side. 

So, how do we enter the right lane? First, we signal with the turn indicator. As we do this, the driver's body shifts towards the center. We check the side mirror and see the car passing by. According to the situation, we press the accelerator. I pressed it quite a bit, or rather, I pressed it down firmly. The reason for pressing the accelerator like this is that my speed was quite slow, but I still needed to gain some speed.

As I move forward, when I enter following my tail, if I just slightly press the accelerator, the car won't speed up much, right? Then, the car behind will catch up quickly. So, when my tail is visible, and I notice that the car next to me is fast, I need to press the accelerator a bit more as I merge. This is the most important part. Let me try merging to the right again. Now, I will turn on my blinker and aim for the space behind the blue car next to me. I will gradually move closer to the right. However, the silver car is quite close, right? So, I will let that car pass and then merge out. While keeping an eye on the accelerator, I should look ahead. At this moment, it's better not to keep watching the side but to focus on the tail of the car in front and press the accelerator. If the distance is a bit far, then press it a bit more. When changing lanes in the city, what is the best timing? When the signal is red and then turns green, starting to move means that the distance between cars will be created at that moment. It's good to think ahead about fitting into that gap. If I were to wait for the signal, now that it has changed, I will try to merge right. It's best not to change lanes in front of a car; it's better to merge after receiving the signal.
