It's almost 10:30 at night, and it's 76 Fahrenheit, 24 Celsius. Usually, I don't do these late-night streams, but let's see what's happening around Miami on Saturday nights. There's the metro mover coming past. That's the free public transportation option to get around downtown Miami. And this is Bayfront Park. I remember the last time I was here doing a live stream of Bayfront Park. The city was not replacing all the damaged grass from the Ultra Music Festival. Well, I'm proud to say that all of the grass is laid down now. It's covered all of the unpatched grass areas. So, there's not that many vacant pieces of land that need to be patched up from what I could tell. I think it was like maybe a few days ago.

that there was like a mound of dirt over here that they needed to take care of, but it's all covered up now. And I remember there was also some flooding issues over there that's been taken care of, I guess, and some more grass has been laid down. That's awesome. Jennifer asking if it's windy in Miami. It's been in Lakeland. It's a little bit windy yesterday, though. It was very challenging to ride on my bike through all the wind. And I hope everyone has gotten a chance to view some or all of the parts of the driving to New York City series from Miami, Florida up. It takes a fall on the roller skates this morning. I published the time-lapse version in about two hours' time. Yeah, Bob, that's right. The palm trees were swaying yesterday. Might be saying it's Greek Easter. Yeah, I think it is. And now that you've said that too, you also remind me today is also Earth Day. So let's promote the health of the planet and use less natural resources, use renewable energy, don't use so much electricity, and keep the planet green. That's the entire theme of today, Earth Day. well, you probably didn't know where to look because, uh, I've been out in New York City late at night too, and, uh, there's a lot of places that are shut by 10 o'clock. If you go to hot spots like the East Village near Washington Square Park especially, you'll see places that are open. Venetian lady is coming into Doc Mike T says Earth Day was yesterday, the 22nd. It was yesterday. I'm getting my days mixed up. Now, you might be right on that. Actually, it was yesterday, so I stand, uh, corrected. There are a lot of people here tonight. Mary Reed says Bayside. you found success in Miami. I remember some areas the interconnection was spotty. I still like that it's spotty. I have all three providers: T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. In general, I find AT&T works the best here in South Florida, but T-Mobile is a close second. Right now, I'm streaming with T-Mobile, and I have Verizon as a backup. Chili's has some customers now. Sapphire's asked if I have a favorite place to eat at Bayside. I haven't really tried too many places around here, to be honest. I did try Ben's Pizza; they were really good. So, I guess over there, I would recommend Ben's Pizza, and also the gelato place is really good too. I remember having that last year. Lizzo asks what kind of pizza crust do I like. I like thin pizza crust. What's going on down here? Premiero asks if I plan to walk by Miami Beach or Windward. Not in this stream. I think I'll stay within downtown today.

maybe head over to the Brickell area. Uh, I think we got to go down this way, escalator. Oh, uh, Godot asks if I've ever seen these Florida-set movie Body Heat. No, I've never heard of it before. I think my plan for tonight is to, uh, head over there close to the Paramount building. I think that area of downtown is known as the Trade Center. I haven't really been exploring too much of that area, but I'd like to get to know it better. So, let's head over there and see what's up. And I'd also like to explore, uh, some more nightlife areas in downtown other than the Bayside Marketplace. Claire Wedgworth says, Not like the New York City World Trade Center though, it's not. like to go back there and make a video of that really exclusive shopping mall. It's so high-end. John Paul Paramount is part of a major complex under construction called Miami World Center. Oh, it's not the trade center; it's called World Center. These people are going to be in for a sticker shock. Parking in this garage: ten dollars for the first hour, and then twenty bucks up to two hours. And I think they charge like ten an hour after that. Lizzo asks if I've ever checked out the guitar hotel, one Seminole Way in Hollywood. I haven't been to Hollywood that much yet, actually. I haven't really been outside of Miami that much. Maybe you don't think there's much nightlife areas besides Bayside, downtown, a couple of hotel rooftops. Yeah, we'll take a look. I have to warn people though, a lot of parts of downtown, they're a little bit shifty at nighttime. You don't really want to be wandering too far into downtown because uh

some of the streets can get quiet, and not everyone is of the best mind, so just putting that out there. So, Elita loves Miami as your hometown. Excellent. Saffraz says, Don't ever do a video from 79th Street. I've gotten a lot of warnings about that street already. 79th Street. I've heard there's a lot of illegal activity that happens on that street, as well as sex work as well. Might help if I push this button, and now I have the walking signal. They don't really give you that much time to cross the street, do they? I'm in the middle of crossing it. It's counted down to zero. Pouring Glitter says, How have you settled into Miami so far, mate? Um, I'm getting some progress done. I like it to be faster, but that's not going to happen with a lot of the delays caused by shipping and production. Furniture especially is a problem. I do have some temporary furniture set up in my place, but getting the bigger items is going to require a lot of

months of patience. So, my plan is to walk over to the Miami World Center. This place looks so different when there's not a basketball game going on. Sasha Jean says Ikea is a good place for temporary furniture till you get better ones. I have a word to say about Ikea though. So, um, Ikea. I was gonna go there, actually. I did go there to order some furniture. And you know how Ikea is, right? They give you all the furniture, but they make you assemble it. And they give it to you in pieces. Well, I was going to order a wardrobe unit, except they said, Sure, we can send you this wardrobe, but you're not going to have these shelves. You're not going to have these poles. You're not going to have this base frame assembly. So, what's the point of ordering the wardrobe if like half of it they don't have the parts for? And that's the flaw with Ikea. You need all the parts in order to build it. And if one part is missing or a few parts are

missing. You're not going to be able to assemble it, and with the supply chain issues and delays, it's getting very frustrating. And I've placed an order for furniture that's not going to get delivered until like September. That's the timeline that they're giving to me. So, can you believe that, folks? I've ordered furniture in April, and I need to wait until September to get it. At least that's their estimate. So, five months from when I placed the order. Now, I can go to a local furniture place or get temporary furniture, but I don't want to be doing that, moving temporary furniture in and out. I'd rather wait if I have to already for the furniture that I actually do need. Let's push the button 3. You bought a mattress and a couch on Amazon. That's good for you. I did order some like really quick to put up temporary furniture from Amazon and other online sites, but the quality is not all there. Lizzo sets a higher an interior designer. They will get you furniture faster. That's what you would think, right, but

they're not. They're also not immune to the delays in the shipping and the production of all this furniture. So, I've never walked through this part of downtown before. This looks like a brand new building, the bezel. I like these palm trees that they have. 21 says we just spent all day trying to get furniture as well as a nightmare. Yeah, tell me about it. And it seems like it's everything in the supply chain now. Sometimes the grocery stores don't even have all the products. Going to buy my car, they didn't even have cars on the lot. You had to pre-order them, and I had to pay up for it too. I had to pay up over manufacturer's list price. Before a few years ago, you were able to get a new car under MSRP, but the markup on the new cars now is astronomical, and I had to pay up for it. And it seems like it's that way for a lot of things, with the semiconductor shortage affecting everything from computers to cars to electronics.

and these days that's how it is. Now there's shortages, and we have to pay up more for things that we can normally get for much cheaper. It's a nice clean space. Bob Kish says some new computers don't have the latest graphics cards. Yeah, about that too. Graphics cards on computers, they've been under a supply constraint for a long time and being marked up like crazy. Because not only that is there a shortage on graphics cards, but people are also using it to mine cryptocurrency. So as a result, people are buying up these graphics cards, and there's no more supplies. So the graphics cards that are left, you have to pay up more for. And these days, it may actually be cheaper to buy a pre-built computer that has a modern graphics card rather than build a computer yourself, which is what I used to do. I've built so many computers over my lifetime, but this time I actually ordered a pre-built computer just so I wouldn't get price gouged on the price of a new graphics card. So this is the paramount building.

Is there a sidewalk to get over there? Do I have to cross over again? I guess so, yeah. Sapphire is saying it's not going to get better anytime soon. The ports in Shanghai are delayed. Ava asking what town this is. This is downtown Miami. I'm in the Miami World Center area. There's a new development area under construction. Okay [Music] Oh, this driver's got a trigger foot. Wants to jump the light, but it's still red. Hello [Music] Paramount Miami World Center. You can see that they have big developments going on. Hey, Jaycation, what's up, my man, on a Saturday night in Miami? That's right. Construction complex here and another one on the other side of the street. Big cranes. Paulie asking if there's a Chinatown around for good food or high-end restaurants. There isn't a Chinatown per se, but there is an area around the North Miami Beach section, which I've covered before. I did two videos on restaurants there.

on my action kid extra channel, there are a small group of Asian businesses there that are actually pretty good. Va, you think everyone's in Brickell? I think I'll eventually make my way down there in this live stream. So, here's the Paramount building, very fancy lobby. The lights are very modern, and if you want to valet your car, they charge you eight bucks up to three hours, and the daily maximum is 35. Not too bad. Harry Wilkes saying, Beli, you believe Miami wants to be the most modern city in the U.S.? Yeah, I think it seems that they are pushing for that over here, and I could see it. Cube is can only imagine what downtown Miami is going to look like in 2030. Yeah, I can only imagine it too. That's why I had the foresight to think about moving down here. That was one of my major considerations because if this area gets really built up the way I think it is, and I'm already settled here before that happens, then

It may probably be a very good move on my part. Well, this is so nice. There's like artwork on both sides, considering there's a construction site, but still, uh, Claudia asking any advice for people aspiring to move to Miami in the near future, currently living in Atlanta and looking for change. Uh, love your videos. Thank you, Claudia. Um, about that, I think what you need to ask yourself is, uh, what do you want out of Miami, and write those on a piece of paper. Do you want good schools? Do you want job opportunities? Do you want nightlife? Do you want inexpensive living? And you have to do your own research to see how that will all fit into your lifestyle. Like, some people may prefer the beach life, and they really value the beach, so Miami Beach will be more desirable to them than, say, living in downtown. This is an amazing area, and that's the metro mover there. Safra says the problem with Miami is climate change. Scientists claim Miami Beach is going to

be submerged by 2100. Yes, set fries. I did um hear about that as well about climate change. But then again, it comes down to my point again about natural disasters. Because I really think that nowhere in the world are you going to be safe from a natural disaster. Whether it's hurricanes or volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, landslides. So uh, I don't think I have to worry about rising sea levels for the immediate future. Because if it's going to happen, then uh, that's what's going to happen. I don't want it to happen, but I'm not going to let the threat of rising sea levels stop me from moving here. And then again, this comes down to my other point too where uh, sometimes we hear things that go away too. Like I remember back when I was a wee little child and in school, I heard about oh the threat of greenhouse gases, how we need to stop the depletion of the ozone layer because it's going to kill us. The ozone layer is so important. We've banned the CFCS. We can't

keep having these harmful chemicals, and what happened? We never hear about the ozone layer being depleted anymore. In fact, I think the ozone layer has almost completely healed itself now. So, whatever happened to that? There's no more talk about the ozone layer. Well, at least you don't hear as much of it as it used to. And uh, that's kind of like the same thing too with California and out west. There's not enough water there. There's a mega drought happening, yet people there are still living their lives and moving there. I think as a human race, we will find solutions to these problems, whether it's droughts, whether it's rising tides and sea levels. So, we'll get over it and find a solution somehow. I believe in the progress of the world and the ability of us to stop all this. And then we gotta go back to uh 2020 as well when the killer virus was supposed to destroy the world, right? Oh no, it's coronavirus. It's going to destroy the world. It's going to wipe out all of humanity.

What happened? We're still alive. We're living with it. Not to say it's not dangerous, but I really think that we shouldn't live our lives in fear because sometimes things in the world are really sensationalized and they just get, uh, we just move on from them. So, I think my, uh, plan for right now since I want to make my way to Brickell. Wow, it's getting windy out. Let's, uh, take the metronome over here and I'll take it to the Brickell City Center. Oh no, it just came. We're gonna have to wait for the next one, the next metro mover train. We're at the Park West station. Actually, let me see, uh, where I am. Well, I know where I am, but am I close to the next station down? Yeah, let's take this, the um, train because I figured if um, the next step stop was close, I could walk there instead of waiting for the next train. Robin says, Does a metro mover arrive every 15 minutes? Um, I'm not really sure the exact schedule.

especially this late at night, but I think it does run pretty frequently. We might have to wait like another 10 minutes for the next train. Bob says it reminds you of the Airbus to John F. Speaking of JFK, unless you got time, try to avoid flying too many flights getting canceled because of a lack of workers. Yeah, I've heard that John F. rail swipes. Uh, this one is completely free. I know POV HFR. You believe it's going to be an interesting decade in general, a lot of social issues, but we shall see how it actually goes. To be honest, I'm actually getting pretty tired of all these social issues that come up. What I really want in life is just a simple life where we can all live in harmony and not have to worry about the next big event that causes the world to worry and cause chaos, because that seems like what's been happening a lot, right? You would think so, but this metro mover actually goes a pretty far distance. If you're taking it from the school board station all the way to Brickell, it's a good distance. And not only that, but people don't need to go out and walk in the streets, and it's waterproof or weather protected. Seth saying, Is this cyberpunk? No, not cyberpunk, but it looks futuristic, right? And I don't think this metro mover is

recent either it's been here since the 90s. Please hold on. The train is approaching College North Station. Transfer here for transfer here for something that we don't know. Okay, so the latest expansion was in May 1994. By the way, this is where you get the bright line train that goes to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. This train will depart momentarily. you get a sense of what happened. Um, how I boarded. So, I got off here, right, got on here, and I took it all the way to here. Now, this dark blue train, it goes back around, it goes up here. So, I don't want to stay on that one. Instead, I got off here. I'm waiting for the yellow one, which is the brick loop, and I'll get off here. And then, you also have the inner loop train, which goes this way. [Applause] Yeah, Valerie, you can bring a bicycle on this people mover. [Applause] Yeah, Tony, it's basically like the airtrain JFK. You're right on that. I wish they would expand public transit more, though, because this only serves a few stops. I wish it would go west and east and more north, but that's wishful thinking. Miami desperately needs better public transportation. Ian Garner says that freeway looks like Miami Vice at night. Yeah, it kind of does. And a lot of things about Miami drivers, too. They can get quite dangerous.

I remember driving and coming off at this exit. I wanted to go to the right here, and there was a driver who was getting off here. You saw there's a train station for Miami International Airport in one of your videos. Is that a direct

stop at the airport or is it stopped to the bus or air train to the airport uh you're correct there. It's a stop where you need to transfer to the air train to get there. They call it mia mover. I actually went inside this hotel the other day, and the lobby is so nice. Oh goodness, let me just cross. Gotta be quick about it if you're gonna do it. So, this hotel here is incredible, JW Marriott Marquis. It's got the waterfall, and this lobby is incredible. Take a look at this chandelier.
