On August 24th, 2022, officers responded to a possible overdose. The officer instantly recognized the female in question based on the description provided by Dispatch. Here's what happened next. Go, what are you doing? Let's go. Don't, don't, or you're going to get thrown on the ground. You understand? You want to play this game and act like you don't hear me, bro. Why are you holding me like that? I have something 'cause you don't know how to listen. Let's go. Don't touch me. You don't have to leave my arm like that, bro. Mercedes, don't my arm. 8 5699. You guys good on you. You SC my arm. Le how to listen. Okay, well, you don't got to. Last thing I'm going to do is turn around on me. You hear me? Throw me around, bro, 'cause you want to act stupid. I'm not acting stupid. Not no more. Why you got to hold my arm like that, guys? You want to turn around and try to swing on me? Keep it up. I'm not

swinging on you, bro. Stand up, stand up. I'm better. Oh, oh, you'll be all right. Well, why the you got to scream C like that? That's why I got so many bruises on me. Not for me, yes, from you guys. I'm dead. Maybe you should listen. I've been listening. I wasn't doing nothing but laying on the thing. Is that why you were walking across the street when I told you to come here? Because they wanted me to leave, so I left. Going to make you leave school. I'm dead. They said I have to leave. What does she mean by I'm dead? Get it? 'Cause I'm dead, bro. I don't got nothing on me. Open. Yep, let's see. Did you guys get a hold of the parents by chance? Tried to get a hold of that. We went down the H tree and basically said go and call. They can't get a hold of any family member whatsoever. Went down the phone tree and no one's answering. Where does she live? We can get an address. We can get all that. We at least need to.

checked out. I did a use for basically laying on a bench. She was very incoherent. She got up, was walking Mercedes around, and uh, she became super belligerent towards the staff members, like she was with you. Yeah, thre need to throw this at people and stuff like that. And then uh, she also has a history of heavy. Yeah, she's in the bathroom mine smoking in the bathroom. She might have some scratches on her knee or something. She tried swinging on me, so I saw. Okay, we saw Mercedes. What? Yeah, she's got. She printed some demographics. There was just a typo, so we're going to get it fixed for you guys. And you guys are just. She just left the school, or you guys trying to get it back. We were kind of following her around, just trying to make sure she didn't blow up or do anything to anybody else. And she got real belligerent in carage. What you going to do? Follow me off campus, and that's right when the officer pulled up, and when she was

inside, she was laying down. It looked like she was trying to go to sleep and just well incoherent. And then she got up and kind of was walking around and weaving. And then she started to become Brier. She was threatening people or um she's threatened to throw a Gatorade bottle her she had in her hand. Yeah, yeah at uh at a register who was helping me, helping us 'cause she's females. Yeah, any uh family members here or brother, sisters just going to CER for dancing over here. Do you guys want her back at school? Do you want you want her back? She's a danger right now. We're I'm sure she checked out but I don't know what state she's in, you know, or she's got up what what she's capable of doing. All right, we'll take her home and see if we can get over. Okay, okay. Meanwhile, an officer tried to contact the female's mother. Hello, hello, can we help you? Yes ma'am, well we found a runaway juvenile um I guess her mom

works here in the cafeteria. Is it Carita? Carita, yeah. Okay, 'cause somebody just called an emergency call. Yeah, let me let you in. And do you know where the cafeteria? Okay, they've already finished serving lunch, so our old office is up there, the other end of the hallway. Uh-huh, it's right to the left at the end of that hallway, at the end of this hallway. Okay, thank you, ma'am. Hello, I'll be right there. No problem. And then this one in there. Okay, and then this one in there. Okay, I'm coming. Yeah, no problem. Your daughter, Mercedes? Yes, rway. I did. Um, if you could just let me clock out, and I'll be right outside. Oh, you don't have to clock out. That's what I was going to ask you. Is it your boyfriend or? Yes, but he's, she's going to fight with him. I okay, yeah, actually, I want to find out who 'cause I want to make sure we release her. I just need to give them a number, and then um, I'll be right.

out okay no problem um if you want to go to L Monas in the front that's where they're at right there I will he he should be on his way okay I think he's there already but I just want to make sure how you doing sir pretty good what are you here for I am here from the okay are you Dad I'm stepdad where's Mom Mom's at work okay she's claiming mom's not at work mom's at home and I have my sergeant heading to the address there to Mom's at work she works at C she gets up at 2:00 okay cuz she's say my mom don't work yeah M Tech is there any way we can get Mom here cuz I have to turn her over to a parent and or Guardian uh her mom can't even to to um if not I was going to request detention at the Detention Center to take her to jail for her charges today or her her dad um yeah cuz the only paperwork I have to the school

is Carmalita. Oh, you can call her dad. I don't know her dad's number. Okay, what's... can you verify mom's number for me? It is spicy. Hello, ma'am. Sorry, anything. Oh, sorry to bug you like this, though. So, so, I just thought off the phone with her dad. Okay, um, we don't know how your guys's rules work, and I don't know exactly what happened here. He was trying to kind of throw me in on the way. Yeah, so I'll just let you know real quick. So, school called us in reference. They called it as an overdose. I guess she's out here in the common area, uh, falling asleep, but as if she might be under the influence, falling asleep, and then would, uh, wake up, be very disorderly towards them, swearing, attempting to throw an apple juice bottle at all the staff and everything. As soon as I get here, I didn't know which one she was. She gets right up and starts going out in the side entrance that way. So, I ask what's

her name. I call out to her staff. Do to she ignores us. Throws her hood up. Continues to go across. Sono after to chase after. Once I get there. I just ask her. Just by hanging on her arm. Back across street. Just keeps pulling. Keeps pulling. I said knock it off. We going to go on the ground. Knock it off. So we come. She tries to find my hands off her. Keeps going. We keep walking. Amr's on scene. My sergeant's on scene. Staff and we come. She turns to try to hit me. And I sweep her to the ground quick. She doesn't have any injuries. Put her in handcuffs. So she is uh being charged today with a on a police officer. Okay um resisting obstructing um. And then also cuz she is on the system as a runaway. So we will take her out of the system as a runway. So she has being in charge of those um which is a juvenile CH three um me and dad. Cuz like I said I was on the phone.

with Dad. We already know how she is. We've been having trouble with her for the past 2 years, and she's been running away. Like, if I take her home right now, she's literally going to fight with me. I don't know if you guys are able to take her to jail to sober up or well, I don't. And the thing is, I don't know if she's per se under the influence. I think it's just her attitude kind of is what it seems like. It doesn't. She's been medically checked out. Yesterday when I went, got home from grocery shopping, she had three of her friends in my home. I kicked her friends out, and that's why I called the cops 'cause she ran away, but they had alcohol in my home. Yeah, and that's when I looked so we could get your updated address 'cause she says, Oh no, I don't know my address. My mom's home sick and Co. I don't have her number. Here's what the officer told the stepfather. Sorry about I couldn't be

releasing any overc just because yeah per so as long as Mom's here. I'm going to get her out now. J um did not authorize detention um so I won't be taking her jail. I did. She is being charged. She does have the three. I will be taking her out of the system and I'll relay this to Mom too just kind of let you know. Take her out of the system as a runaway cuz she is currently in the system as one. She will be charged with assault on a peace officer, resisting, obstructing, evading, and also the runaway. That is an as charge. If they keep doing it, they get enough of it. Eventually, jpo authorizes detention but as of right now they don't. She has a score high enough on their scale to that but um I can bring her over here if you're comfortable with her sitting in the car till Mom comes out. It's completely up to you um but I that's the one thing I do need Mom just to sign a form cuz I'm releasing her.

back to mom um but if you want to come over with me. I'll get her out. I'll give you her phone and stuff. And Mercedes, step out for me. Stand right here, face towards me. Do you have any injuries on your legs? I take this off, put your hand on top of your head. You understand? Do you understand? Put your hand on your head, right? And grab your phone. Uh, your mom's inside, I guess. This run and rolling you from school, whatever it may be. Uh, the school no longer want you to attend here. Um, I'm going to turn you over to him, but essentially, you're going to be turned over to Mom. She has a little bit of paperwork, and I will take you out the system as a runaway. I will give you some advice. Uh, if you keep running away or whatever, these little charges you think are nothing, they will be coming up, or you will be taken to jail. Um, I requested detention today to take you to jail, and they didn't. But I can tell you

if you keep doing this, you definitely will. You'll get taken to jail over this. You won't be released to Mom or Dad or stepdad, whoever it may be. So, I mean, if that's the road you want to go, then by all means, keep doing what you're doing. But it's a very simple thing. All you have to do is listen to me and stop, and I would have brought you back, called Mom, and released you to Mom. But now you have three charges on you today. I don't know if you're trying to show off for the people outside, but it didn't quite work out in your favor. Do you have any questions or anything for me? Once your mom comes out, you're more than welcome to sit in the car with her. Once your mom comes out, I just have paperwork that you and your mom both need to sign, and then I'll get you on your way, okay? All right, over with him. Show me at 79 Shannon. Shortly after leaving the scene, the female started behaving aggressively. What's going on, my mom?

she's pissing me off. I'm just trying to go home, and I'm literally trying. She said she's going to take me to my dad, but they took my bed and everything, so she needs to put that back. And I told her that she needs to put it back. That's literally all that happens, and she keeps yelling at me and everything, bro. I'm not doing nothing. I'm literally not doing nothing. You've been in trouble with JPL before, yes? Because they thought I hit my mom, but she's the one that was hitting me, and I just pushed her off of me. They did. They take you to detention center yet? No. Is that something you want to do? No. I'm just trying to go home, bro. I'm literally just trying to go home and go to sleep. I get that, man, but you're going to have to chill and relax for a while, okay? Well, I will. What? I mean, this shit's getting me mad, bro. I didn't even nothing. Why is she yelling at me for you to talk?

what are you going to let me talk? I'm listening to you, Mercedes. Do you want to go to jail? Who wants to go to jail acting like you want to? I don't. I just want to go home. I haven't slept. I haven't eaten or nothing, bro. I'm freaking... Here's the thing. I get your frustrated as hell right now, but the way you're acting too. Okay, well, I'm sorry. What else do you... Do you want me... Are you going to be able to just relax and chill till you get home? You know what I mean? I'm sorry, bro. We trying to play B. Everything took me out of school. You take her over there. Where is he? You want to go to dad's house? No, it's hot over there. It's so hot. There's so many flies in. Here's the deal, and I don't have my bed. I'm say this. Your mom's... Your mom went through all this trouble, came off work today. Well, that's not my fault. They should have just listened to what I'm...

saying, and then you're sitting here being disrespectful. Hey, I'm sorry. You keep saying you're sorry, but I can't leave you knowing if you're going to keep acting up like this. I'm not Mercedes. Do you understand that your actions are prolonging all of this? Yes, I know. I'm sorry. So you stop with your actions. You'll get home and get some food and get some sleep, but you keep acting like a child. You're going to continue. We're going to prolong even longer, possibly go to jail. I mean, this is absolutely ridiculous at this [Applause] point. If you're truly sorry, the best apology is change, change the action or behavior. You know what I mean? At some point, you're going to have to chill. I understand you're frustrated with everything, but they're trying to help you out. Yeah, she takes off a G or starts acting up. Yeah, we were literally just going down the road. She just starts punching the seat and kicking it and screaming, and I'm like, so I told him I

was going stop so I can talk to you. Yeah, and that's your best. So hopefully she'll just stay asleep. I do need her to go to her dad's, so whatever. Where you take her home, call your dad to pick her up, or whatever it is, that's fine. Um, come the right now. What I would do too is you gave her all the J stuff. Yeah, she already has. Wherever her case agent ends up being, they into her case. Ask her about different programs, different. I mean, how old is she now? She 17. She has less than six months. I'm saying um, stuff that they can help you out with. Okay, yeah, 'cause it was mandatory for her to do counseling, and they just literally dropped it right away.
