It's very chicken-y looking. This line of foods just came out a couple of days ago, so we're going to try it out and see how it tastes. People are increasingly on these injectable weight loss drugs where they just aren't hungry anymore, and so they're eating less junk food. Their taste preferences are changing. Big food companies are aware of this, and so Nestle has just released a line of frozen prepackaged meals for people on these drugs like Ozempic or Wegovy. This is a teriyaki chicken meal with white meat chicken, broccoli, sweet potatoes, bell pepper, pineapple, and a sweet sauce. Oh my gosh! It is definitely super frozen. All right! Oh my gosh! I can smell the pineapple for sure. Let's compare. If you're on a Wegovy or like one of these other weight loss drugs, this might look like enough food for you, but it's pretty small. It's not like the driest chicken I've ever had,

which is nice. I wouldn't say like I would reach for this, but it's fine. I can see how if you didn't have that much of an appetite, you just weren't interested in eating, you're not interested in cooking, this is obviously a very like protein-y, chicken-y thing that you could have in the middle of the day and not have to worry as much about muscle loss and some of these other problems that people on these drugs have sometimes. So a lot of people will do like a protein shake for breakfast, but you can't just have like three protein shakes a day. That would get super monotonous and boring. I mean, it's less than $5 and you can just grab it from the freezer and go. So it really is designed to just be attractive to someone who's looking for like a small meal to eat at work. Nestle said they want this to be an option for like anyone,

even if you're not on these weight loss drugs. When I spoke with Nestle, they were talking about how they're always noticing what's trending, what's new, so they're kind of leaning into like what's trendy for like fitness, portion control, and all of those things. I spoke with a dietician who is not affiliated with Nestle, and she said if she was working with someone for weight loss, she would actually recommend even more protein per meal, like maybe 30 grams at a minimum. But because people on these drugs just like aren't that hungry, I think if there was more protein in here, it would actually be like too filling, too challenging for them to eat. They also have like a decent amount of vitamin A, some potassium, just trying to make sure that these people who are, again, not eating nearly as much as they used to, are getting enough nutrients into their body.

The one thing that the independent source I talked to about these meals did say is that they're all relatively high in sodium. It's true of like almost all ultra-processed freezer aisle foods, but you know, this one has almost 40% of your daily sodium in one meal. So, that was definitely one of the things that she was more critical of. But again, like it's not like they reinvented the frozen food. There's Lean Cuisine, there's all these other things, and this meal is like not maybe that different. I don't know how like new and revolutionary it is, but I think they're really leaning into the high-protein trend, that's definitely a thing.
