I'm going to make the complaint that at bottom, uh, David is presupposing a Kripkean modal semantics

for modal theory, and my, uh, position is about as simple as can be: I utterly reject, and have rejected from

the first time I read it 35 years ago, Kripkean semantics for modal logic. I thought it was the dumbest thing

I ever heard at that point. It involves quantifying over all possible worlds; that's not a well-defined sense, and that

you can make almost anything you want happen if you get to play with what that set supposedly contains.
