hello, I'm Rita. I'm from Portugal. I'm a psychotherapist and also an astrologer. I also take people traveling on spiritually focused trips in Japan and in the Himalayas. I've had three near-death experiences in my life, and it's been quite substantial for me, the difference of my life before each of them and things that I learned from all of them. So, the first ND happened in the year 2001 when I was traveling in South America. At that time, I was in the Amazonian jungle in Ecuador, and I had malaria. It was I was living with an indigenous family in the Amazonian jungle. When I had malaria, I really went into a kind of trance-like state because it's a kind of disease that really takes us to like these very high fevers, body shakes, and so I started transitioning very slowly, but I was in and out of consciousness, and then I

think that took like 10 days 10 days to two weeks like that. And then there was a day when I just started to die um. And it's really quite interesting how I I was immediately aware that it switched from being this 3D this kind of touchable field to being something else. And I was starting the death process um. It was quite interesting that at that time I didn't feel scared also. So there was something strangely there was a sense of being at ease there even if I was aware that I was dying. And that feeling is actually something that stayed with me forever how it was like okay I'm no longer a body there's just this beingness this presence. I don't know how long it took. I'm trying to recall but I I I don't have a good idea of how long I was in that state. But then I was actually pulled or at least my perception is I was pulled back by the people in the cuz. I was in this indigenous Community. They had a an amazing Shaman with whom I had

A really good relationship, it's like they pulled my consciousness back. That's how I remember it, just being pulled back, and then suddenly I started feeling again. Oh, I'm in this bed, I'm in this place, what just happened? I didn't understand it very well. I was also quite young, I was in my early 20s then, so yeah, it was very confusing. I didn't have the understanding of NDEs, I didn't know what that might have been, I just didn't know. But something had already shifted in me, I'm sure. It took me a while, it took me months to process it, but I remember I shifted, then I was definitely a lot more open to more of life. Okay, then my second NDE was in 2007. I had a big car accident with my... I was traveling with a friend, and so we were hit by a truck. We were in a van, and we were hit by a truck from behind, and our van started to flip around in the highway, and we lost the

roof of the van also so we were just kind of floating around in air. But I don't remember any of that because I immediately um went somewhere else. And there I was really uh brain dead. So um I have the feeling this happened very quickly, but my experience of it was actually it didn't feel so quick. It felt like expanded time somehow. And again, the experience was that I was somewhere where there was no uh gravity, even like there's no sense of weight. Um I I didn't I was absolutely not in my body. It it was I still could I had an understanding it was me, but there was nobody. It was just this. It was also not really floating, but it was just as if I had become just space. And it was quite strong. I was very aware of what was going on, and it was very interesting on that one that I actually saw um my great grandmother. And then I saw also a very good friend of mine who had died the year before. I saw him as well. So I saw both of them.

they were like one to one side, the other to the other side, and there was this intense light coming from behind them, especially behind both of them turned to the right, right. So my great grandmother was there, kind of at the gate, and I understood that I was dying, and strangely there was a sense of uh relief or it's not necessarily relief, but like detachment from life as I knew it, and I felt quite compelled to go towards that light because again, the feeling, there was this feeling of being totally at ease, um, no difficulty, no, no nothing, just goodness, just kind, some sort of ease and goodness, and I was quite attracted to first because I saw these people I loved, and then this light just felt very beautiful, and there was emotion also to it, so there was something that, you know, it wasn't my body, but there was a sense of just going, but my friend who had passed away the year before, he, my experience was that he just got his hand, and he just pushed me, and then he pushed

me back, and then I was again in my body. And then I was like, Oh, I'm in the car. And I still didn't know we were in an accident. But I was back, and that feeling of coming back into my body because there it was really like, like just really felt like I felt like I had put some very short, like small clothes on that it was really hard to be like so contained in a body when I had been like everything. And that also took a really long time to unpack. Also, that I saw my friend, I saw my great like, what is it, what just happened? Did I die? Did I not die? It took that experience took over two years to really make a good grasp of it, yeah. So that was the second one. So the third one is more recent. It happened in 2017, the end of 2017. And I was traveling in Ethiopia, and um, excuse me, in Ethiopia, usually the buses leave very early in the morning. And I had to catch a bus to go to the next town. So I left my

guest house around 5:00 a.m. and I started walking to the bus station. And as I start walking, there's a guy that jumps like from behind me and he started to strangle me and also pushed me to the ground. And he was just like not allowing any air to come in. So it was quite interesting that I stayed very conscious throughout the whole process. So I was very aware of what was going on. And I made a plan. I thought, well, I'm close to some houses. I'm going to find a way to uh scream and someone will come to help me. But all of that was happening very quickly, right um. So I managed to get the guy's hands just a little bit away from my neck and from my throat. And I started screaming. And then there were three young guys that showed up. And I thought, oh, that's it, they'll save me. But these three guys didn't do anything. And they just stayed there watching. And when I saw that, I felt okay, my plan didn't work. I'm going to die. So

I was still quite conscious in that time, and I was just feeling this is a really strange death. I have a lot of money here. I could give this guy money. He doesn't particularly want anything from me. What's going on? But then I just started to let go because I didn't have any. I mean there was no air coming in. I could no longer move my body. I didn't have any strength, and I just started releasing life, and I really went somewhere else. And again, it was that sense of weightlessness, just kind of space, being in space, but that was very short. And that time I was actually not attracted to. There was some strangeness in the situation that made it feeling quite different, and I, a part of me, was like not okay with that situation. So as soon as I started releasing and was in that space atmosphere, there was something that until this day I cannot really know what it was because I had no strength left. I know it wasn't like my human personal

body strength, but there was a sense like emotion, like from left to right, and it was like, and it kind of animated me, and suddenly I could pull this guy with a little bit more strength, and I could scream even a little bit louder, and then there was a guy that came, and that um, got close to me, and he had a a cane, and he was just pushing the the other person, and the person went away way, and that experience was actually quite a difficult one to unpack because it involved person-to-person violence, and also I had to fight for my life, like literally, if I didn't fight, I would have died. So there was also something quite strange about it, and it was a bit of a different process to go from consciousness to that more special ious being because I wasn't okay with the situation also, but then also as I released it, something came, and I've always been connecting with that sense and trying to really fully understand what it, what it is life, is it me, what is it, because it was really like life just came back into.

me, which was a very interesting feeling. I don't know, I think it was just a very violent, you know. I never even saw this person because he was behind, so I don't even know how he looked like. I don't know, he didn't particularly want anything because if he wanted my bag, he could have taken the bag like nothing. He just, he was very drunk 'cause I could smell that he was very drunk, and maybe just some sort of strange violence, yeah, hard to understand. So it's interesting because I already had, I maybe actually from the first one, yes, I got new abilities. The thing is, from the second one on, I no longer connect them with andies because they became part of me, but from the first one, I became much more connected with my intuition, um, and just being aware of a less tangible world. So, for example, um, when I had my second ND and I saw that friend that had passed away, I had actually predicted foreseen his death like two and a half years before he died.

had seen that he would die exactly the way he died, and I think some of that ability came from my first ND because it's such an expansive experience to be connected with much more than my physical body. Um, that, yeah, I just became aware of more things. I think intuition is where I see the most, um, also something like being less, uh, concerned, being less, giving less importance to those things in life that sometimes feel like they're the most important ones, like the job or, um, how much money I earn or things like this because I know, um, I know that expensive side of who I am and or of Life. Little details like the day-to-day life, the job, these things never feel so important to me like when we go, those things mean nothing, and that stayed as a very, very ingrained understanding. It's like we're actually none of those things. It's not my title, it's not the things I own, I, that's not it. I had a few months when I was feeling quite pessimistic, just the feeling.

whenever I connected with the world in general or Humanity um there was a heaviness, and things just felt like sticky, or like really heavy, and now it's been almost a week where I think of if I connect with the future, I actually have quite a light positive feeling, so I don't have like something concrete, but I have a feeling that something shifted about a week ago, and I now feel quite optimistic about where we're getting. The thing is I get that sense about the future that's a little bit further down, not like the next months, the next months still for me feel like my body actually contracts when I think of them, like something like it's not going to be easy somehow, but it's almost like that is necessary to get somewhere else, and that somewhere else for me actually feels just positive, it just feels light, um something that was present in all three of them was some element of fire, um in the first one there was a clear flame, like a orange looking flame, like really burning at the center of

what I was seeing um in the second one there was like a small tiny tiny fire to my right uh. On the third one there was a smoke and of smoke so I never saw like the color of fire but there was a sense of smoke so that's something that was always present um. On the second one I clearly saw my two people that I loved and a light. It wasn't like a tunnel it was just a a kind of circle a circle of light um. On the first one I also saw it was quite interesting. I saw images like they looked like photographs of people in my family like my loved ones and they would just show up. I would see them and I would somehow say my goodbye and then the image would disintegrate and to me it felt like this was really slow like a very slow process. I'm not exactly sure how long it was but it felt very slow to me and so they would just come and disappear and I would say goodbye um. The third one is the one where I saw less things it was

more of a I felt more like movement. It was more movement like, and it was really like kind of leaving the body. And I was just space. And then as I was start, there was a sense of um, a feeling as if something was going up. And then there was this strength that just came from the left. So it was very movement, uh, like. It wasn't so much a visual experience. I really like this element. I like the element fire, and um, for me, I found it quite interesting that also in the Tibetan Buddhist explanation of death, uh, the fire is present. And it's somehow we can see that during the death process, all the elements are leaving our body. So the fire leaves our body, the wind leaves our body, the water leaves our body, Earth lives our body. And I think I connected a lot with the fire, which maybe is like part of the beginning of Life also is there when it's the end of life. So that's how I saw it mainly. But I also know that I, I know the fire element.

in me a lot. I know it. It's I. It's one element that I connect a lot with Earth and fire, so I guess it just makes sense that it's one of the ones I'm more aware of. Also, in the letting go of it right when these elements, uh, I guess when my Consciousness goes somewhere else, I need to release all of these elements in this thing that is the physical body, right? So that's how I see it. It's like the elements when they no longer need to animate my Consciousness, they just need to go somewhere else. They'll be released. And it's actually quite interesting that when I go back to my three ndes, I can see what how the astrology was affecting the situation I had. So for me, it was all. There was always an involvement of the planet Pluto, uh, Uranus, and um, and in one of them, Neptune, which are all connected with this kind of experiences. It's quite interesting to track that. That somehow in my natal chart, it was also there as a

possibility that something like this would happen. It's a time of huge change in the astrology, right? We are going to, like, when I look at the astrology of between now and 2026, it really feels like in 2026 we're going to be living completely different lives. Like, the world is going to change dramatically, and it's a kind of change that I don't know if I've ever seen in previous astrology because three of the outer planets are changing signs all within this period of two years. So, I believe we're prepared for such a change, but it is going to be quite a big change. And I, again, I'm quite optimistic about where it will take us, but I'm aware that the transition may be, um, not so easy. Yeah, there was that Eclipse, so that is an important, the Eclipse on April 8 was an important, very important Eclipse, but there's a lot more happening in the astrology that is just going to be, um, yeah, going to bring. It's going to bring the kind of

change that we cannot really know what it will be because it's we're talking about unexpected things whenever we're um uh Uranus is involved. It's going to be uh things that we cannot really predict, you know, like like Uranus was involved with the discovery of electricity, for example, so it's something that before electricity, we couldn't guess how it was going to to be like, or let's say the start of the internet, you know, before internet life was different, but we couldn't imagine that it would be a certain way because we still didn't know the internet. So I imagine there's going to be something like that that changes, there's going to be a new thing that um really changes how we live life here as as human beings. I I'm quite curious, and you know, with any Transit that happens in astrology, we can have the most the most negative expression of it, or we can have the higher version of it, and when we manage to have like the higher level of these experiences, they can really change and

and shift life for something much better than we know. Probably with this kind of transits because they really involve the outer planets to something that we can't even imagine. You know, like also Neptune is involved, so uh something beyond our imagination, maybe what's going to come around. Yeah, I don't have um a specific Gods. I believe in, but I definitely feel directly connected with a force that is beyond um anything human, and I'm not sure what to call it, so I can use the word God. And you know it's like that force that I felt on my third NDE. I sometimes feel it was like God, but not a particular God. Right, God for me is more like life force or um Divine energy or love, right? Sometimes I just Define it as love or the source, 'cause it's very clear to me that there is that something. I just I don't particularly connect that much with the word God in that way. So I I usually call that life or one of these other words, but I suppose that could be what

some people call God. I mean I take so many. Uh, I have so many takeaways from my NDEs. Maybe I mean an overall one is that. Um, life is so much more than what we can see. And I have like a clear sense of myself being so much more than what is visible, right? I have a body. I'm here. I do my day-to-day things. But what I am is so much more than that. It's so beyond that. Um, other things that I something that actually became quite important for me for my NDEs is I'm very aware that life can actually end at any moment, right? Because my NDEs, they all happened in situ things that, you know, they weren't expected at all. It was just like suddenly it just happened. And knowing that it can actually happen at any moment, uh, brings an element of deeper presence, I think, to my life, to my days, because I know I have this day, you know, I woke up, I'm present. If I go see someone, it's interesting that I always know it may be the last time. And this

brings a different quality, I think, to my life, which I really appreciate. I'm really, really enjoying, and really, the other thing is not leaving things unaddressed. Like, I really try to take care of things when they need to be taken care of because I don't know if I can do it tomorrow, right? So, if there's something I really need to tell a person, I'm not going to leave it for tomorrow, next week, next month, because who knows if we'll be there. And that's a really important takeaway from me. Oh, and I think another one is, um, sometimes with friends or with people I meet, and even with clients, um, if they're telling me about something about themselves, about their behavior, about their life, there may be something that feels quite strange to me that I cannot rationally understand. It. I can connect with that deeper essence that they are as well, and I can have kind of empathy that's much broader than if I'm just trying to understand it from their person self, because sometimes we do things that don't necessarily make so.

much sense for other people, but we're such expansive beings that somehow in the bigness of who we are, it makes sense to other parts of us. So, the purpose of life, I think, is something that gets quite, uh, changed by having the experience of NDE. Um, clear to me that the purpose of life is not about having the best job or having the best car. All of these things are just like so not the purpose of life. And for me, like, I could broadly say that I feel we're here to learn, like the learning, like our evolution somehow is the purpose of life. But the other one is a lot simpler, and it's to love. It's like the purpose of life is to love. And this is really very broadly speaking. I'm not speaking like I'm not saying, Oh, we're here to love, like to have the perfect partner and to have this relationship or that, but rather to expand our capacity to love, like to just love, to love others, to love ourselves, to love situations, to love everything, and to just be.

love. I guess one of the things that I always um like to invite people on is to to connect with um a deeper essence of who we are. Like if we can just connect with ourselves and really if we could like start to let go of layers of identity that we built on. Sometimes we put on the mask that oh now I'm the engineer and now I'm the father and I'm you know like this all of these masks. How is it to actually do the opposite and take off these masks and see what is it that is always there? Like what is the thing that Beyond you know like me. I'm a psychotherapist, I'm a daughter, I'm a sister, my name is Rita. If I take away all of those things, what is it that is there? So basically doing the inquiry of just going down found the question who am I and who am I without all the titles, all the masks, and connecting with that Essence. Because when we can access that, we're so beautiful. It's like the reality.

of what we are is just really pure beauty and love and energy. So that's just an invitation to let's go of the titles and just access that who are we at the core of us.
