Recently, I have been discussing communication-related topics with you all. Today, let's talk about how to speak smartly. When you look at the comments, you often see things like, I wish I could talk like that person, or I wish I could speak well like that. In fact, what is the essence of smart speaking? What is communication? It's good to start with some thoughts on these questions. In fact, the essence of communication is not speaking. It's about communicating with the other person, even if it's speaking. It's about the other person understanding the content I conveyed, what I wanted.

You've acted accordingly, so now you can consider that communication is going well. Unless you are a lecturer or a YouTuber like me, you don't need to speak or explain things like a textbook. So, I would like to say that, more important than speaking eloquently like a textbook, the key to effectively communicating most of the decisions you make at work is organizing the content smartly. Now, if we want to speak well and effectively convey something to the other person but can't, there are several reasons. As I have observed various cases, there are about three reasons why it doesn't work. Yes, these three reasons are: Firstly, there is no big picture or process, like procedures or sequences. If you don't understand how things are progressing overall, what the sequence is, or what the criteria are, even if you want to say something, it won't be persuasive. You need to speak logically.

I want to do something, like first, second, third, what I want to do. Because there is no big picture, the point is to keep exaggerating first, second, and third. So, what the listener is saying is, What is this all about? It's about understanding the big picture and understanding the process, and talking about where in that context. Explaining it like this can only enhance the communicative power. The second point, in fact, can be seen as a more essential story. The difference between someone who speaks smartly and someone who seems smart but is not actually smart is this: the former has a purpose, while the latter does not. People who seem smart without a purpose are always the ones who argue that something must be done. The basis is this, this, and this. This should be done first. The reason is this.

This is how it goes, so the conclusion is first, and it's someone who has the intention to move someone. So, when someone is said to look smart, it's not just about speaking clearly like a spring water, but it's actually about having the intention to influence something. Therefore, a person who communicates with the intention to influence is actually considered smart. So, what's important is not just speaking without essential content, focusing on the way of speaking, speed, pronunciation, or tone. So, even if there are two factual contents, if the third one is missing, it can be challenging to speak smartly. Most likely, many of you will find it difficult to speak smartly without the presence of this third aspect, logic.

There is no structure. Okay, there are two words: logic and structure. So, logic is about discussing the basis of order, and structure is about discussing the framework. Therefore, logic structure is about finding evidence and basis that are easy for the other person to understand and accept within a certain framework. Without these three concepts, just speaking based on the flow of one's thoughts or consciousness often feels like speaking intelligently, but in fact, it often feels very distant. Recently, we have investigated the difficulties that doctors face in their medical talks and their satisfaction with their medical talks by years of experience. We divided them into several grades: less than 1 year, 2 to 4 years, 4 to 6 years, 7 to 9 years, and 10 years or more. Some interesting results came out. It's very difficult for doctors with less than 1 year of experience.

These people must have had a hard time. They scored very low, less than 3.6 points in less than a year. They must have faced tremendous difficulties and hardships. It's natural. They are having a hard time adapting to the company itself, the work, and even the people. Since they have to adapt to many things, it's natural that their satisfaction and difficulty index are not good. But what's really interesting and shocking is that the communication skills seem to be the most proficient and likely to be good after more than 10 years, like a veteran. They scored 3.1 points here. So, their satisfaction is even lower. I've looked through all this content. That's why those with less than a year of experience have lower satisfaction because they don't know how the questions will be, what they will be asked, and how things will turn out. Not everything is organized, and I don't know what kind of communication...

Despite conveying it, the message continued to be delivered completely differently. The other person misunderstood, and my boss seemed to have expressed something to me, but it was my misunderstanding. Because of that, continuous miscommunication occurred, and even if I couldn't understand, they said things like, Are you really Korean? in a puzzled manner. In the process where these kinds of conversations are repeated, it is inevitable that difficulties arise. Summarizing the difficulties in less than a year in one sentence, it goes like this: Not knowing what you don't know. That's because I can't even ask questions since I don't know what I don't know. This is the most challenging situation. It's about realizing things like I don't know this either. So, if you have over 10 years of experience, you are considered to know quite a lot. But why are people dissatisfied like this? I looked into the contents of those with over 10 years of experience, and they talked about logical difficulties. I expressed my opinions in my own way, and there are simple information checks, like the six principles and such.

I'm going to die anyway, so I don't know what I'll become through this medical treatment. It's too hard for me to present the expected effects, directions, strategies, and next steps. So, if I summarize their content in one sentence, it would be: I have no ideas. Actually, I need to take a look back at how I've been managing the company for the past 10 years. In fact, if you've been working for 10 years, they say you become a great expert. When you've been doing the same job for 10 years, it's said to be the minimum time to rise to the ranks of experts. So, even though things may change in the process and the company may change, the fact that you've been in a specific field for over 10 years is important for presenting ideas and needing my own opinions on solutions. If you haven't had these concerns, in any environment, you may have difficulty in communication.

There isn't already a level of demand if it's been over 10 years. These people should have a goal, something to present, and through that, they lead the team below. But if they only try to lead the team at a low level without the leadership they should have, of course, they will face difficulties. So, it's actually good to think a lot about what content to talk about, what core things I need to lead. This is different for each job, experience, and industry, so it's impossible to cover everything in this short video. Today, I will talk a bit about the skill of organizing thoughts before speaking, making my thoughts more coherent. Actually, before talking about this, there is a book I would like to recommend to you, which is a book on logical thinking.

I have given many recommendations multiple times, created videos, and even had book clubs. I have done book clubs twice, to the extent that logical thinking is a part of my habits or the content of what I speak, and it is also the most important content. So, you need to understand what logical thinking is first. I will explain it very simply. It's horizontal and vertical. Horizontal and vertical, so it's just densely connected. It continues to grow, expand, and connect. As horizontal and vertical increase, there are more evidence and reasons, and you can talk about it like this. Among the overall big picture, I want to talk about this, then this, and then this, moving up step by step. This sequential method of communication is what logical thinking is. Just understand it this way.

Thinking is actually a way of thinking. When thoughts are expressed in words, it becomes communication content. If you persuade the other person well, then smart communication and smart speaking are resolved. Now, let's talk about the concept of logical thinking. There are precisely two things. The first one is MEC. You don't need to know the full name of this, just pay attention to complexity and omission. Another concept has been added here, but in any case, all we need in our minds is to pay attention to when similar content is vaguely mixed or missing. That's it. Just extract all the content you want to convey first. That's the most important thing. Before you communicate, talk about everything. Open your notebook and write down all the content you want to communicate. It may be important to communicate in advance the day before or the week before.

It is good to prepare. Just write down what you want to say, then turn on the Chae-chi PPT, and simply copy it and classify it neatly. Then, it will classify everything neatly for you. It will extract keywords thoroughly. While doing that, you should check once for any duplicates or omissions in the content. First of all, it would be good if you understand one concept. So, what it is about is the content related to the horizontal aspect. The criteria for organizing the content I talk about into categories is MC. Understand it like this. Secondly, Sowat Y Soye. So, what's the point, why is it like that? Continuously repeating this is about the content related to the vertical aspect when looked at from here. So, what is the content below, and because of this, it turned out like this, and the conclusion is this. So, going to the top is defining Sowat. So, this one is from Sowat Y.

So, what this is asking is, I have come to a conclusion that I will manage my career. So, I need to binge-watch Choi San's videos, subscribe, like, and turn on notifications. That's the conclusion. Also, why is that? Because there are many contents that can help with your career, and there is energy that can challenge you. You can consider these as the basis for each case. So, with these two points, if you combine them horizontally and vertically, it actually ends. Then, all the preparations for communication are complete. If you see it this way, you're all set for communication. Now, let me show you an example of how to organize this. I'll show you an example to help you empathize and understand from your perspective. To do this, I'll summarize someone's reason for retirement. I've written down someone's reason for retirement in detail.

First, you can try your first salary. You can organize your thoughts, think about your retirement once in a while. Writing a lot of posts makes you very smart. Second, there is no welfare, and third, there is no growth opportunity. There are hardly any companies with growth potential. Also, there are hardly any people who write job descriptions correctly. And frequent absences are rare these days, but even so, there is no system. Incompetent bosses are also a problem. It's always like that. Next, even the commuting distance seems far, like in a rural area. Then, after going through all that trouble, there is a lot of control, and even colleagues are really useless. The company has no vision, and even promotions are stagnant. Hey, this is all the different reasons why you should quit your job right now. There are many diverse reasons like this.

First, what did you say earlier? You mentioned the first step, right? And then, you mentioned that the content should be classified like this, so what is the conclusion? So, what should we do? Why do people resign? I want to find this out. I guess that's the question. The reason for resigning. Alright, let's start by categorizing first. In order to categorize this, we need some categories first. So, it's best to use the categories that others have already created. Like 3C, 4P, 7S, 5S, things like that. With those contents, it can also support your work contents. Since there is no one else categorizing the reasons for resignation except for me, I will categorize them into five categories that I have created. I have organized these five categories like this: growth opportunities, evaluation and rewards, salary, and

The workload and organizational culture are divided into these categories. Now we are just going to draw a table. Here, we divided them into four main categories: one, two, three, four. Now we will try to place each one under these. If there is no support, where can we put it? It could be placed under organizational culture, right? Excessive control can also be seen here. Colleague conflicts can also be seen as part of organizational culture. Company vision includes growth opportunities, promotion opportunities, and salary evaluation rewards, as well as welfare evaluation rewards. There are growth opportunities in the job itself. If you see that it fits your job suitability, then it's okay. If you have job suitability, you can see that there are no growth opportunities. Overtime work is part of the workload. If there is no system, then there is overtime work. And having an incompetent boss, how should we see this?

It can be seen as a corporate culture or a workload. I will put it under workload because incompetent bosses usually assign a lot of tasks. The commuting distance doesn't quite connect here. So, this person will not come in here anymore. Not coming in here could be categorized as a workload, I guess. Right? Yes, it seems like it could fit in here. So, that's it for the mec stage. When I look at this, I see that I can identify the level of influence of growth opportunities and work intensity in these four categories. That's what it is. So, if the boss is trying to force nature, then before having a retirement interview, just by organizing these categories once, I might have no choice but to resign due to growth opportunities or work intensity.

Let's talk about summarizing the content. So, now that Step 1 is completed, before moving on to Step 2, let's check once more if there are any duplicates or omissions. Since most of it is based on one's own feelings, there doesn't seem to be any duplicate content at the moment. So, what is the fundamental content within this? Now that we have finished discussing this, let's move on to a new step. First, let's look at the growth stage. When we consider company vision, promotional opportunities, growth opportunities, and job suitability, what stands out the most? What is the fundamental aspect? Isn't it the company vision? Without a company vision, there are no growth opportunities, and without growth opportunities, there is no chance for promotion. This could be considered a completely different category. So, if we talk like this, this would be number 1, and then number 2.

I will become a layer, and this is layer three, right? So, this is a swat y company we've been working with. In terms of promotion, I have to keep it alive. Nevertheless, what can I do? I will look for a place with opportunities for growth. Therefore, I am planning to move to a place where I can be given more opportunities in my position. What kind of company is that? When I think about it, I decided to switch to a company with a vision when I swatted. I have already passed the interview for this company. If I say I'm resigning, the resignation interview will be very neat. So, the conclusion here is that I successfully switched jobs. However, if I just talk about the successful job switch without any content, that's not it. Even so, if they say, Hey, in our company, you can do this and that, does it make sense to you? Isn't it too irresponsible? You may also receive questions like this. The contents are already organized.

It's not difficult at all to logically convey the reason for retirement. Well, the salary and benefits don't really have a clear cause-and-effect relationship, so I'll just go with this. Also, since the intensity of work is too high, out of the nine, I will consider a hike for four of them. The frequent overtime and lack of system, the lack of system is the biggest issue, right? Then, as a result, not only do we have frequent overtime, but one of the reasons for frequent overtime is probably due to incompetent imaginations. And the commuting distance, well, this doesn't really connect with the lack of system, so we can consider this as 1, then 2, then 3. Once we reach this point, it's almost like the end. So, when we organize the reasons for retirement, how should we do it? One reason is leaving due to a lack of growth opportunities, right? This category exists, and its basis is below.

You can explain with a few layers. Then, the second opportunity is resigning because the workload is too high. During the growth period, resigning due to low growth opportunities and high workload. These are the contents. In fact, to even reach incompetent superiors, it seems a bit far-fetched to me, and due to the lack of a system, there was a lot of overtime work. Since it is a fact that there was a lot of overtime work, I think it will be enough to convey. As for salary and welfare, since the current content is not very abundant, I boldly exclude it. The growth opportunities and job suitability did not match, and I felt a lot of constraints due to the company's promotion stagnation, so I had no choice but to resign. If you have a frame and evidence, when discussing during the resignation interview, if the superior says, This is not a big deal, you are wrong, you cannot say it like this. In this way, talking about your job.

Please frame your thoughts once and try to find the most helpful frame through GPT or various cases. List all your thoughts based on those contents and try categorizing them. Then, organize the categorized contents to establish relationships and finally summarize your thoughts into one or two sentences. This will serve as a table of contents to smartly convey your thoughts, which is the direction you should go. I think it will be a great tool for organizing your thoughts very intelligently.
