So, the goal now is to become a cooler adult little by little until the day they die. The author has a dream of wanting to become a cooler adult through growth. In the prologue of this book, there is a remarkable passage that catches the eye: Age naturally increases, but one cannot become an adult automatically. Becoming an adult is something that can be achieved through the growth of the mind. With such healthy thoughts, this author seems to be heading towards becoming a truly remarkable adult through this growth. It seems like all of us should now have such a dream.

I think it's there. I found a really cool sentence in the recommendation from the book recommendation site. The author is Kim Jisoo, who wrote the last lecture of Lee Yeryeong. In the recommendation written by this person, I found one cool sentence. I want to stand up holding your hand. A clean adult who doesn't get tainted even if they succeed. I think this sentence expresses a truly cool adult in a very concise way. Who is a cool adult? It's cool to say, I want to stand up holding your hand, towards our next generation of children who are struggling. Also, a clean adult who doesn't get tainted even if they succeed. Let's dream of this. There is another cool sentence from the writer Son Mina's recommendation, and it goes like this. There are people who shine more and more with time, almost surprisingly. If you look at our church, there are people like this. When they were young, they weren't so outstanding, just ordinary, but their inner selves.

There are people who want to become more like the Lord, so as their inner selves gradually become more beautiful and mature, their faces change a lot. It's not about changing into a flashy, cool, or pretty face, but many people admire the tranquility exuded from that face, and even a single expression or smile that reflects it. Many people think, Wow, that person is amazing. In fact, aren't most people who believe in Jesus like that? When I look at the church choir, there are people like that. They are all here and there, everywhere. Even if I look around, they are all here. Everyone may think about when they will have time to focus on their own work, but that's true. Let's dream a little. It's nice to live a cool life believing in Jesus, right? I talked about this at a recent church meeting. My wife has a group of close friends from college, and most of them also believe in Jesus.

They are friends, and among them, there is a friend who says, If you only meet my wife, you have to buy a meal. If they come after fighting, they say even louder, You have to buy a meal. They say it like this, Your husband is a person who polishes the Dao. I've never heard anyone describe their husband as a pastor. Yes, her husband is a person who polishes the Dao, but he expresses it cutely and meditatively, making it fun. Without even fighting, they ask each other, How well are you doing? and then suggest buying a meal based on speculation. I think they never actually buy a meal. Inside, they might think, Oh, you should try living like this too. It could be a thought. What they are trying to say is a funny story, but since it didn't make me laugh, it failed a bit. If someone who doesn't believe in us can really say that about us, then to all of you who believe in Jesus, Hey, you're the husband.

You know, believing in Jesus, your wife believes in Jesus, you have to buy food. That's what people who don't believe in this kind of coolness demand from us. When we say we believe in Jesus today, it's not just about believing in Jesus and asking for everything. Make me successful, make me earn money, it's not about seeking these tangible things. This author, who has succeeded greatly as a writer, you know, with poems, hometown mornings, and such bold news programs like Ank Woman, a successful female career. But now, I no longer dream of such tangible success. I want my inner beauty. I want my inner maturity. I want to live as an adult and be recognized. I dream of this kind of dream. It's so nice to see. If you look at the cover of this book, it says, A grown-up is someone who tries to improve until the end of life. Oh, I am here.

I want to erase the adult and put in Christian. A Christian is someone who seeks to improve until the end of life. Do you agree? This is a person who believes in Jesus. That's why the Bible also talks about such things more and more. People age, their hair turns white, and their skin doesn't look the same as before, but the inner person gradually transforms into a more beautiful image resembling Jesus Christ. We dream of this. In fact, in that sense, although I have never met anyone like this around me or through him, through books, I imagine someone like a role model in my heart. Among them, there is a person I introduced once, Dr. Lee Hee-dae. He was a doctor at Severance Hospital, and although he has passed away now, he was recognized as a true expert in his field when he was alive.

He used to perform surgeries for about 600 cancer patients a year, unfortunately, cancer found this cancer specialist. He was too busy taking care of patients that he neglected his own health check-ups, so when he finally discovered cancer, it was already at the late stage of colon cancer. Nowadays, with advancements in medicine and drugs, they say it's not like the old days to call it a late-stage cancer, but back then, it was considered late-stage. I read a heartbreaking article recently. In an interview, it was mentioned that in the past 7 years, cancer recurred 8 times. He had three liver resections, surgeries to remove parts of the colon and rectum, as well as pelvic bone removal surgery. He underwent radiation therapy and continued to take anti-cancer drugs. It's serious when it reaches the point of having pelvic bone removal surgery, right? But I...

Surprisingly, this person experienced a recurrence and underwent surgery, but did not collapse even when it got a little better. Now, living their daily life, there is something like a calling. This is also very touching. Even if they treat just one cancer patient more, their goal is to brighten the world. This is a story from the time of the cancer diagnosis. It's amazing. The first time I learned about this person was through an interview article. Although I have never met them, what do you think? Clearly, this person is definitely a Christian. I was convinced 100% that they are a person who believes in Jesus. When I searched and found out, to my surprise, my guess was correct. They are not just a Christian, but a true believer in Jesus. Therefore, without being discouraged by this reality, as a Christian, they continue to write about their faith. This time, as I searched again, I found myself.

I was deeply moved. When I saw this, they said, Even though cancer recurs, I can still smile. They said, Through the process of chemotherapy, God reveals His grace. It is often said that cancer is a curse. However, I believe that there is no curse in cancer. It is just a step to overcome cancer. If you only have the will to conquer cancer, the energy of life can flow in. There is nothing but the will. They say 'overcoming cancer,' but the expert, a professor specialized in cancer, says he cannot agree. It's about having the energy. Even if you have to force it, now you're playing word games. Just by having the energy, saying 'I can overcome this,' conquering cancer is the essence of this life. They say these wonderful words. They also said that cancer is an opportunity to reflect on oneself, the source of life, and a blessing to meet God. They have hope and face each day.

Living with gratitude, joy, and love, I read the Bible, meditate, and go to church every week. I become armed with God's word. Just like a joke that my husband, who is a pastor, always nags me to buy groceries, it's not a joke, but a wish to make it a reality. I hope that all Christians who attend today's service will dream of becoming Christians who resemble Christ more and more as they age, emitting fragrance from Him and showing beauty in His image. As a pastor, when I look at the Apostle Paul, whenever I meditate on him and read about him, I think, Wow, if I live like him, I would do a lot. Not only that, first, look at the Apostle Paul. You can feel his transformation. He is not hypocritical, not lukewarm. Even if someone attacks him, like in Philippians chapter 1, when I was studying theology, I was deeply moved. Even today, it's the same. It seems like Paul did the same. He thought of Paul as a rival and competed with him. So, he tried to overcome Paul, to break him, or even to torment him. There are people who work so hard like that. Can you imagine how tormented Paul must have been? Do you know what the Apostle Paul said in such difficult times? He said, I endure all this suffering, however, no matter the motives behind those who preach the gospel to me, whether to cause me trouble or out of goodwill.

If what is transmitted when sharing the gospel with motivation is the gospel itself, I would be glad and joyful about it. When I discovered the structure of that at my theological school, I suddenly realized in my heart that my true character is narrow, my true tolerance is not broad, and whenever I see this weak appearance, oh, it's dreaming. If it could be like this, if someone tries to torment me by spreading the gospel so diligently, even if they think of me as a rival, gossip about me like that, even so, if I diligently serve the church with that motivation, I will be satisfied and happy with it. Isn't this the appearance of Apostle Paul? Let's put that in a nutshell. Even in today's passage, Paul delivers a truly wonderful proclamation in children's words. Look at 1 Corinthians chapter 15, verse 54, verse 55. It is mentioned three times. This corruptible body must put on incorruption, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

When it's time to wear it, the recorded words of the Bible will come true. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? Now, Paul is glorifying this death and making a very wonderful declaration. In fact, isn't this death a fear that every human being has? Isn't the image of death a terror? Even when young, isn't it human to become afraid when thinking about death from time to time? However, in today's passage, it says that by swallowing death, victory was achieved. In some translations, it is beautifully translated as, Life has rendered death powerless. Isn't this amazing? How can anyone or anything in the world render death powerless? Which religion, which faith, which belief can do that?

Does the creator who made it have something that makes death powerless? Oh, as I go through this resurrection Sunday and the passion week, preparing for this resurrection Sunday, my heart, as the Apostle Paul meditates on this proclamation, feels defeated like this. He swallowed death and gained victory. If you think about it, if you remove the poisonous sting attached to the bee, why would the bee attack us? In the same sense, where is your sting, death? Life has removed that sting. The important thing is, where did this boldness of Paul come from? It's because there is no fear from death, so the fear and sting of death are removed, and anytime he dies, there is also that content in Philippians. I am torn between the two. Dying right now and going before the Lord is beneficial to me, but.

Paul is caught between the desire to go quickly to the Lord right now and the desire to survive for the sake of this ministry. What decision does Paul make? Dying now and going to heaven immediately would be beneficial for me, but I have decided to live longer for your sake. Isn't this wonderful? If you ask where this greatness of Apostle Paul comes from, the answer can be found in Philippians 3:10. I want you to see this in three translations. What I desire is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection. Knowing Christ and experiencing the power of his resurrection does not automatically make you armed with the faith of resurrection. Look at reality. I am much freer from the fear of death even though I clearly believe in Jesus. But now, as Paul distinguishes these two, what I desire is to know Christ.

Recognizing His power of resurrection, participating in His suffering, and imitating His death. Why aren't we afraid of death? It's to remove the sting of death and when we do, as in today's passage in verse 57, it doesn't lose its significance. It's mentioned three times. However, we give thanks to God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Victory here doesn't mean a promotion or getting the job I wanted on this earth, or making my enemy flat on the ground. It's not about that. The victory mentioned here is about overcoming the power of death. What do we need to know, my friends? We should rely on Jesus Christ while we are alive, but also rely on Him in the process of dying. How did He remove the sting of death, as it says in verse 57, but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Why do we have Easter Sunday worship today?

Do we give thanks separately, or why do we give our thanks offering to Him? It is the faith that believes in the removal of the sting of death that came to me through Jesus Christ, who overcame the power of death through His resurrection, that is the faith of resurrection. People equipped with this resurrection faith are all amazing. They have no fear of death, how beautiful and how amazingly transformed they become after being equipped with this resurrection faith. In the Bible, there are many figures who have undergone such astonishing and attractive transformations after being equipped with this resurrection faith, and the most representative figures are Jesus' disciples. They were not perfect at all; they all ran away during the process of the crucifixion. Weren't Jesus' disciples so full of fear, weak, humble, cowardly, and timid? But later, when you read the Acts of the Apostles, they all became heroes, you know. They all faced martyrdom, not fearing death, because the sting was removed.

But isn't it the case that Paul did everything he wanted to do and lived like that? Isn't it the same for Paul? Isn't it the same for Peter? Peter, who denied Jesus three times, you know, a cowardly and timid person who only talked big, an empty person inside, isn't that Peter? However, later on, Peter became such a courageous person, a leader who stood tall in the early church. If you read the books of 1 Peter and 2 Peter that he wrote, you can see that 1 Peter was written during a time of severe persecution under Emperor Nero. So here, you can see expressions like in 1 Peter 1:6, In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

This is what is expressed, also in 1 Peter 4:12, Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. This letter was written for the saints who are currently suffering. Take a look at the bold exhortation to the saints of the early church who are now in distress. In 1 Peter 4:12-13, Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. Right now, you are primarily the target of severe persecution by the emperor. Peter tells the legend of being crucified upside down.

Isn't there a record of martyrdom? So, saying that now there is no pain or something like that, what is it? What a cancer patient, going to heaven, oh, you should be strong more in this situation. You should be stronger in this situation. A pastor who says things like this, without knowing the situation, is doing it, right? Because they don't know how severe this pain is, they talk about it too lightly. Oh, if someone says, Oh, I have cancer, don't let your face fall like that, don't say things like that, it's a talk from someone who doesn't understand the situation. However, if the person who experiences that says it, there is strength in that. This time, when I held my mother's funeral, I realized who truly gives comfort. I'm grateful to everyone, but some people really make an effort to comfort, and you can feel that, Oh, this person is making an effort to show respect, and some people truly comfort.

When this happens, when I experienced it, I realized that this was it. Peter is not talking about these sufferings theoretically, as if it were something unpleasant. The most severe suffering is what he is currently experiencing. Be very brave in participating in Christ's sufferings. Do not be surprised as if something strange were happening to you when you face such trials. Isn't this the fate of those who believe in Jesus, who follow Jesus, the slaves and servants of God? Where did the weak Peter, who used to tremble and deny the Lord, go? It's the same question. How did Peter undergo such a wonderful and courageous transformation in his life? I find the answer to this question in 1 Peter 1:3 - Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Through His words, He makes us born again and gives us living hope. You all know, right? Peter betrayed the Lord in the process of crucifixion, but after the Lord resurrected him, he met Peter. I remember joking before, If it were me, let's meet without him. I don't want to see him. But when he met Peter, forgave him, gave him a new mission saying, Feed my lambs, take care of my sheep, Peter's life completely changed after experiencing the resurrected Lord. The powerful work of the Holy Spirit in the warm heart that met the resurrected Lord, as described in Acts 2, made him a completely different person. Amen. Both you and I can mature. Amen. Even if we face reality every day, trembling in fear, feeling anxious and restless, living a life like this, we can become different people by meeting the resurrected Lord.

Meeting the One who equips us with the faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I believe that if we encounter Him, both your life and mine will be wonderfully transformed. Pastor Keller, in his book about the resurrection, mentioned a beautiful expression related to the function of the resurrection. Do you know what function the resurrection has? It is the light of life that drives out all fears. Amen. Isn't the worst thing for us who believe in Jesus death itself? When life says, I will die like this, isn't that truly despair? However, by removing the sting of death, the worst thing we can experience in life, which is death, becomes the way to heaven. Therefore, on this Easter Sunday, I encourage you to take a moment to intentionally reflect on what Tim Keller mentioned. In an era where anxiety has become familiar...

In this era, we seek and strive to hold onto hope. In a time where anxiety has become familiar, we try to grasp onto hope. Look at this, there is no hope more majestic and powerful than embracing the authority of Jesus' resurrection. Amen. God, who showed us mercy, the resurrected Lord whom Peter met at the shore, the resurrected Lord whom Paul encountered on the road to Damascus. If the Lord who met Paul, even in his wickedness, is the same Lord who meets us, then I believe that the resurrected Lord will come to those who love Him in today's worship. Just like Dr. Lee Hee-dae said earlier, Even in trials and tribulations, I can smile because through these hardships, I experience God's grace. So, instead of just complaining about your pain every day, my dear friends, do not forget that.

I hope you become wise believers who can use your pain as a material to experience the resurrection of the Lord. So today, I would like to share two applications related to this resurrection faith. First, you need to enjoy the influence of your resurrection faith. Having resurrection faith doesn't mean thinking, I will die comfortably when I die. Instead, it means that those who are equipped with this resurrection faith can experience the influence of that faith in their current lives on this earth. In 2 Corinthians 4:16, it says, Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. Only those equipped with resurrection faith can understand this. Look at verse 57 again: But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

In our process of living, we need the grace of the Lord and His intervention, even as we age and go through the process of dying. Jesus Christ must intervene in my life even in the process of aging and passing away so that I can overcome death and gain victory. Isn't this bold confession of Paul coming to us as well? Though we age a lot, where is your victory, O death? Where is your sting, O death? If we have faith in simply putting death aside like this, how beautiful is that Lord, and the fact that I now, now that my mother has passed away, need to be more careful and make up my mind not to do wrong. Last Friday, Good Friday, I couldn't bear it again. Oh, this suffering and resurrection of Christ, this sermon, this message is not coming through. So now, you all...

It seems corny. I won't do it again, but I have to do it today because of Easter. Because of Easter, I felt quite hurt by my mother on last Good Friday. Why did we fight since I was young? When everyone else's mothers always took their sons' side, my mother is really strange. Without even listening, she would say, Apologize. Do you even know what's going on? If I don't, she insists, Apologize first. Then when I go home, she rolls her eyes and asks, What is this? If so, she says with a very apologetic expression, We believe in Jesus. Your mother's thinking is, if you believe in Jesus, you have to suffer losses, yield unconditionally, and just give in. I mentioned Good Friday, and she might suddenly come back, so she called me.

Could you ask my daughter-in-law if she feels too sorry for me if there is anything to apologize for? She's becoming more distant, so I can't even ask her directly. Oh, she's my daughter-in-law, after all. Our mother-in-law always says there's no such thing, that our mother-in-law is a really understanding person, so she has never pushed her like that even once. What is this? If you're going to call me, then I keep thinking, do I have no one to blame again, feeling sorry all the time? I don't like that. Please act confidently. Why, but during this difficult week, as I reflect on it spiritually, as a person like me who cannot understand, it is Mother's confidence. It's Mother's self-assurance. We believe in Jesus, but that's what it is. Mother's confidence. When we die, we go to heaven. When we die, we receive all the rewards. What do you think about that person?

I've never had anyone explain things smoothly like a theology professor, so I was misunderstanding, but this time, I analyzed it differently. This is about my mother's resurrection faith, actually. My mother passed away in December last year, but at the end of July, she faced a critical moment again. So now, her lungs are filling up with fluid, and no matter what techniques are used, the fluid doesn't drain. She's becoming more and more distressed, so the doctor in the U.S. said that continuously tormenting an adult like this is not right. That's why I received a call saying, You need to prepare yourself. So, I received the call in the early morning, cried once again, booked a flight in a hurry, but miraculously, the fluid in her lungs drained. So, she came back to life, and now she is in the United States.

There was a gathering, so when I went to the United States, my mother was at a nursing home on the third floor where Korean grandfathers and grandmothers are located. Therefore, except for very special cases, all the staff are Korean. Surprisingly and thankfully, all of them are people who listen to sermons. That's why my mother received VIP treatment. So, when I went to the United States, the person in charge told me about what happened at the end of July. It seems that my mother had difficulty breathing due to lung issues and fell into a state of unconsciousness. So, I had to call 911 and take her to the emergency room. Calling 911 in the United States is like calling 119 in Korea. It was chaotic, with bright lights and sirens blaring, and many people rushing in to take my mother to the emergency ambulance.

My mother woke up. It was a very serious situation at that time. She woke up and said two words. It was getting very strange. The fire was blazing, and people, American people, were running around. Then my mother said, Where is this? Is this heaven? This was her first words. It was like she just woke up. Who are you? Are you an angel? she said. I laughed too when I heard that story. But during this Holy Week, my mother's appearance is shining. She's someone who has pulled out the sting of death from her head, hoping for heaven. She must have hoped so much to go to heaven soon. When that situation comes, she will have a very happy expression, saying, Is this heaven? Are you an angel? And my mother is just...

I was praying for a long time, praying for the title, and as I was ignoring the title, God allowed me to go before Him. The day before my mother passed away, my three sisters, who were very filial, took turns visiting my mother every day, preparing to meet her and preparing various things to offer her. And now, as they were visiting, the day before my mother passed away, my eldest sister, who was right above me, was looking for my mother. My mother, being very concerned about appearances, said, If you're here, go straight to her. She kept saying, Go, go. Even though I was visiting for three consecutive days, the pastor scolded me, saying not to come and do nonsense, telling me to go. That was our mother. But the day before she passed away, she told my sister not to come. Oh, I don't understand this. I don't know if she spiritually knew something, or I just don't understand.

I don't know if you realize, but she kept saying not to leave. Don't go, don't go. So, she stayed until the afternoon. There was nothing particular to talk about. So, my older sister started to ask various questions. She asked my mom, Who do you miss the most right now? You know, you can guess. Is it the youngest son who is a pastor in Korea? Do you miss the eldest son? Or maybe one of your grandsons? She asked that kind of question. Then, my mother said this, The day before she passed away, she said, 'I miss seeing Jesus.' Do you miss the eldest son? Do you miss the youngest son? When asked that question, it doesn't mean she thinks less of them. It was just a human sentiment. She just wanted to see them briefly and then go back. That's what she was talking about. And then, in the early morning, she passed away. Oh, our mother, in appearance, was a bit petite.

If you do this, you will understand better. I resemble my mother the most. As a joke, I said that our father only looks at the heart, not appearances, so I teased that I must be like that. I have a dream now. Just like my mother who removed the sting of death, I also want to die like that. I wonder how our children will see the end of me, as their father is a pastor. In my mind, my mother is so cool, so beautiful, she never hesitated. That's why, during the Holy Week, I confessed that I received a lot of wounds from my childhood when I was always told to admit my mistakes. Nowadays, those wounds have become jewels in my heart. In English, aren't wounds scars? When wounds pass through the cross, they become stars. In the book of Daniel, leading me before the Lord.

People are like stars. Let me briefly talk about the second point and wrap up. What is the second application related to the resurrection faith? It is about dreaming again with the resurrection faith. We dream again with the resurrection faith. By anchoring in the resurrection faith, we dream again. Look at verse 58 again. This is a full explanation of the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15, filled with the essence of the resurrection. Paul explains, Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. When this word comes out at the very end, you know, right? Explain the reason for being equipped with the resurrection faith. Therefore, if you are equipped with the resurrection faith, do not be shaken anymore, but always dedicate yourself to the work of the Lord. Even as you grow older, you should live for the sake of the Lord.

Do you somehow know that your efforts are not in vain in the Lord because all the efforts of people in the world are in vain, and in the end, the power of death takes everything away. So, everyone dies in vain. The power of death takes away all the passions and desires that one had on this earth. It is the power of death, but for those who have removed the sting of death by God, the things they do on this earth are so valuable and eternal. Therefore, put more effort into the work of the Lord. These days, I used to sing this praise occasionally from the old days, but these days, especially during difficult times, I sing this praise more with my heart. The night is coming, and it will soon be over, so keep your duties and work hard from early morning until the evening when you cannot work because the night is coming quickly. Now that I am in my 60s, I realize that I work harder than when I was in my 50s. I prepare sermons much more than when I was in my 50s.

I will work harder. Why am I now gradually realizing that the nights I can't work are soon profitable? How great is it? Now, sometimes I just want to take a break. Oh, now, I do want to have a sabbatical for even a month. It's not like there are no guidelines like that, but the nights I can't work will come quickly. After Paul finishes explaining the resurrection, he says, Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. If Dr. Lee during the second era had a transparent scam and even cared for patients until he died and wished to die dreaming of that, I feel the same. I promise you all again that I will not do anything to disappoint you during the retirement process.

I don't think the Young Adult Ministry will disappoint us in the future. Even though I am not perfect like Dr. Lee, I will pray more and serve more to shine the light of the gospel to them, so that they won't be disappointed. I hope all the saints and young adults in our church, as they get older, will continue to dream as young people do. Even though we were born different in appearance following our parents' looks, what we pursue becomes more beautiful and splendid as we go on. It becomes more wonderful. In the book, it says that a Christian is someone who strives to become better until the end of their life.

I believe he is such a person. If before, the goal of life was just to succeed, do well, and live boasting in front of others, now I want our goal to be growing to resemble Christ. Until the day our father dies, I want us to become Christians who become more admirable. Through the Lord who resurrected, God has removed the sting of death. It is only a shell. The greatest despair we face on this earth is death, but death leads us to heaven.
