hello everybody. It is January 15th, 2021, around 1:30 p.m. 41 Celsius, 5 degrees. No, 41 Fahrenheit, 5 degrees Celsius. I am aboard the five train right now, and I'll be doing a walk of the Bronx. We're approaching the 174th Street station. Should be a pretty nice walk today. Stand clear of the closing doors, please. Yeah, that's strange. I've been having bad internet connection already. [Music] Wow, that's a lot of traffic there. That cross rocks too much traffic. Uh, Sonic, I'm on the fire train. Yeah, Clemens is a tough start to the stream, that's for sure. Not all the time you're gonna have a smooth connection. I thought since I'm outside on the subway, it's elevated, I have good service, but that wasn't the case. So please be careful of the gap between the platform and the train. Transfer to the Q44 Select Bus Service. All right, West Farm Square East Tremont Avenue Station. I love the stained glass at the subway.

I know I had used it already. [Music] You got the people there asking for metro card swipes to go in because it's illegal to jump the turnstile. But if someone else swipes in for them, then it's not illegal. All right, first thing I'm noticing is my camera is a little bit crooked. I think that subway ride has something to do with it. So the next time I find a flat surface or something, I'll try to fix it.

All right, I think I'm good now. So this is the West Farms neighborhood of the Bronx. I'm headed west on Tremont Avenue. I know this is a major road that goes through the Bronx. Moto Moto, I'm not going to the Bronx Zoo. I know the Bronx Zoo is the most iconic location in the Bronx, pretty much, but I've been there a few times already, and I don't want to go there today. Today, I want to explore

this part of the Bronx maybe even walk into Manhattan mixing made easy. Thank you so much for five bucks, appreciate it very much. I'm probably going to see a lot of mom and pop businesses on Tremont Avenue walking west.

whereas compared to like Fordham Road and the Hub, you see a lot more commercial places. This is the local fire department, Ladder 58, Tremont Pizza and Fried Chicken. That looks like a great spot, a gyro for $6.99, family pack special. And I think they're installing some new signage on that grocery store across the street. Unfortunately, Medline truck is blocking my view. Now here we go, RK Jelly Grocery, the local Bronx bodegas. Some of these bodegas too, they make great sandwiches, hamburgers, Philly cheesesteaks. If you're ever in New York City, don't be afraid to go inside a local bodega and get yourself some local food, because that's what I do a lot of times. It's quick, it's fast, and it's tasty. It's getting a little bit chilly right now with the wind. Tremont Adult Daycare, Adult Daycare. Wow, usually daycares for little children, but they have an adult daycare here. We've got Palematic, RNK Pet Shop, and an electronics store.

tj saying you don't see snow in New York. That's because there's no snow. It's too warm for it right now. We are scheduled to get some rain later on, but that's going to be past four o'clock or so in the afternoon. It won't rain for a good amount of time. We got Cortona Parkway. [Music] There's a lot of tires. If you want to get your flat fixed, you come here. There's so many tires that they even piled up on top of this truck here. We have Southern Boulevard. Southern Boulevard, major street in the Bronx. If I were to take Southern Boulevard all the way this side, I'll head to the Bronx Zoo. It runs along the western edge of the Bronx Zoo. Roy's restaurant bar. That looks like it's been there for a long time. Some old font over there. Kennedy Chicken, another local grocery. I'm getting a sense that this part of the Bronx, there's a huge Latin American influence. I don't really know about much about

this part of the Bronx, but I know this big pockets of Latin American neighborhoods. Oh, look, we have an African market here, Sombra African Market. Even some traditional African clothes. Wow, look at this veritable Dutch wax, 100% cotton. That's great. Hey, what's up? No, I'm not okay. Thank you, doctor's office. I'm not working for the doctor's office. I have to mute folks. They never venture out of their own community, and that's a shame. I wish more New Yorkers would go explore outside their own communities. Let's cross the street because I don't want to wait for this light. Zaruma Beauty Spa, Nails, and Salon looks like they do a lot of different hairstyles in there. Don't just speed the seed and look at the initial price because some of these places, they give you enough food to last three meals. You gotta really see it to believe it in order to make a judgment on the price. And someone was mentioning the Denise 10 boxes right here. I guess everything here is less than 10.

The Bronx is actually New York City's smallest borough, but I feel like the neighborhoods in the Bronx are a little bit more concentrated than the other ones throughout the city. this park looks quiet. There's not much going on in this park at all. Aaron's saying how long's the cut-off when copyright music is detected. It could be as little as a second, but I think YouTube really only has their content ID flag after 10 seconds. This is kind of strange. This little circular area here feels like there's supposed to be a fountain or something here, but they got this new tree in the middle here. Actually, all these trees are new. They just put these up, huh? This park is pretty simple-looking. I mean, there's a good amount of space in this park, but there really doesn't seem to be too many attractions here that make it interesting to come to. There was a playground there, and then there's some fields over there to the left of me. Let's go over there and check out the conditions of the fields, but maybe I'll walk up here first. Let's walk up here first, and maybe I can get a sense of what this park is like.

from the top, what in the world is this? I feel, I really feel like this park can be much better maintained. It's kind of been, this kind of feels like it's been lost in time, like the city could put something here, maybe a playing field or something, or track and field, and there's just a row that goes around, it doesn't really go anywhere, and I already see the field down there, it doesn't really look well maintained as well. Stephen Hill saying it looked like back in the 70s when you were a kid, it doesn't look like it's changed at all. [Music] This park can use a lot more TLC from the city, like people saying a skatepark would make this park look better, anything, there's not much here at all, and what's this up here? Why is there like a random wall here in the middle of no place? Why don't they like put stairs up here and put something up there too? I don't know, definitely one of the most neglected parks I've ever, ever been to in the city.

Steven's saying, Nope, you used to play here. The train, the Third Avenue, used to run across from the field. Oh, okay. I actually think this is Third Avenue over here. Yeah, it is, because I remember walking the entire length of Third Avenue in the Bronx, and I saw this park from down below. I mean, this park's got a lot of space. It actually goes up, and just for me walking in the park and going down those stairs, you know that there's a lot of hills here. So, even just that, riding on a bicycle, it takes longer to start and stop. [Music] Correcting me is typography, not geography. I actually did a video of that going from Westchester Square, walking along East Tremont Avenue, all the way to Throgs Neck. Jerome Avenue is considered a continuation of Fifth Avenue, and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is considered the dividing line between west and east.
