all right. In this video, I wanted to discuss the Nike Vomero 5 two years after the hype kind of started in 2022. Kind of is when the uh the train for the Vomero 5 was going crazy. Is it still a craze right now in 2024? Uh let's go ahead and get into some of like the pros and cons about the Nike Vomero 5. I don't think I actually did a review of this sneaker. Uh with exception of the DOR Becker version of the Vomero 5, but I figured I'd go ahead and get into some kind of some pros and cons about the model. And let's go ahead and jump right in. So first of all, thank you to HIIT City Gear for sponsoring this video. They actually sent this pair over by request. I saw it on their website, which is a good sign that lets us know that the Vomero 5s are actually out there in the wild again. If you've been trying to get a pair of Vomeros in the last two years, most

likely you struck out because they came in stock, and they went out very, very fast. But now they're sitting in full-size runs in a lot of different colorways. They have tons of different stuff from a lot of the major brands out there, definitely worth bookmarking that page if you guys don't have it thus far. But this model has garnered a lot of attention in the last couple of years, and it's very interesting. It's like why the vomero 5. For those people that don't know, the Nike vomero line is still very active within the running space, and I think it's on the 17th version of the performance running sneakers. I did a review of them on my channel, super comfortable ZoomX in the midsole, like very, very nice evolved pair of sneakers.

so why did they start retro in the fifth version like two years ago? Why didn't they go with the Vero 1 and two, four, etc.? It's interesting that this model specifically caught a w. They originally released in 2010, 2011 time frame, and they were basically a performance running sneaker in that era. It did feature Zoom Air in the forefoot and the heel, as well as kushon in the midsole, and it was a very comfortable pair of sneakers, uh, back then. I was a pretty big fan of the veromos, but really the lunar Glides are the ones that really got me into like more of the Comfort side of sneakers. When the lunar Glides were around, I had like every version of those. Then I also have a couple of the veromos in the background. Now the vomero was a six right here. This shoe I thought was probably one of the most comfortable shoes ever. The Vero 4, really love this shoe, thought it was so comfortable, bought

it in a different color way, and that really what is what transition me to get uh the lunar lunar Glides. I heard I was telling some people that these guys were really comfortable, and I like the material and the cushioning, and they said you got to try these, and I've been hooked on these ever since. So that's kind of the way that went. I got some uh some another uh yeah, these these veromos, and they're okay, not anything crazy. I've only worn them a handful of times here and there, and uh decent but not near as again like Like These Guys. These guys are definitely my favorite, but a cold wall did a collaboration in 2018 with Nike to bring back a different version of the uh vomero 5ivs, and that one did okay, and then following that 2018, 2019, they did a couple Retros of the model as well, and then it hit a cold wall, and they stopped retro. That was that was a really terrible one, but they stopped returing them, uh basically until.

2022, and now we have them on like every person's feet, like not just the Dadu Trend. So it's one of those pairs of sneakers that seem to have transcended time a bit and is very popular amongst a lot more people than just people like myself, the dad dudes out there. Excellent dad shoe, I will say that. I'm really happy that I got a pair of these in just a kind of a neutral colorway. This colorway specifically is really nice. Let me see, the box says Platinum tint Photon dust, and I love the Platinum tint kind of color blocking with this, and then kind of that creamed midsole, black and gray on the outsole, little bits of variations of Gray. This is a super wearable colorway you could wear with pretty much anything, and I love that. So I don't know exactly why the Vera 5 was chosen to make its way back into the spotlights other than the fact that it had some success as a retro in 2018.

2019 era, but I do know when I went to a Nike event in 2021, 2022 in California. Like, I was invited to go down there to see a bunch of the kids stuff. Uh, there were some of the people from Nike that was working there that was wearing retro veromos, and I was like, that's fire. Like, I was like, this is going to be dope. Like, this is going to be a thing. And then it took off in full force, and it's been one of the best mesh Runners that Nike's actually released in modern times, and I'm really happy to have seen it. So, getting into some of the pros about the vomero 5, uh, just the looks of the shoe. I think it is an overall very attractive shoe. It is a mesh Runner, but you do have little plastic TPU parts for the heel cup, as well as the side cages of the shoe. The mesh is nice, the, you know, synthetic leather overlays are nice. The toe-down look on the shoe is so good and

I think that that's part of the reason why I'm like these look really good. You look at the shoe on the side and you're like, Yeah, dope, but the toe-down view, I don't know why, it's something about this that's super attractive that I really like. One other pro that I mentioned is the rubber outsole. It's very durable, it's grippy. The fact that it's a little bit thicker makes it nice as well, and these weighing at about 11 oz for a 9.5, that's not too terrible considering the shoe was from 2011 or so. Nowadays you can get 7 oz runners that are crazy, but this is a nice durable pair as well. So, the durability of this shoe makes this a nice one. Also, the fact that you have a decent amount of width to the shoe. It's not the widest offering New Balance offers a lot better offerings from the width perspective if you really need a wide foot, but it's overall good enough that you don't feel like you're

going to be wobbly or anything like that in the shoe. Overall, it's a really good fit with no adjustments needed. Uh, if you again need extra x width, then New Balance is probably a better option. I don't know if this is a Kushon 2.0, 3.0, or whatever. It feels soft. I don't remember if the original ones were this soft on feet, but it is very aable overall. But it's an attractive looking shoe and a comfortable one at that. They do fit true to size, in my opinion. I got a 9 and half, and it fits me perfect. I think having a collaboration or two here and there has helped the model as well, and also having the scarcity of the model where they didn't release a bazillion different colorways up front. They kind of just like. Time released them over time. That was a smart move from Nike just to kind of generate a little bit more Buzz around this old retro model. Where this is one that was like a fun one to be chasing down for.

the last couple years now again. I do have the Dorn Becker version, which is super bright orange. Not a very wearable colorway, but a super fire one that I was able to cop at retail. But now we have a bunch of different colorways that are sitting out there, which I do consider a pro as well, because the fact that there's more colorways out there means there's more options for people to actually wear the shoes that they were maybe interested in buying originally that they couldn't get. The other thing I want to mention is I really do feel like this shoe made a nice runway for New Balance as well as as6 to just take off and go crazy because this shoe is kind of like in that Dad shoe sort of era, but it's also the mesh Runner era, and it's something that was kind of at the Forefront of it now as6 is going crazy with the 1130s. New Balance has a bunch of mesh Runners. Adidas has a bunch of other mesh Runners, but this model

really feel like helped set a wave in the fact that this one wasn't available for a lot of consumers, and now they have the option to get some ASICS and other shoes out there. ASICS has definitely been the wave of 2024 with some of their models, but I kind of got to tip my hat to Nike with a Vomero because the mesh Runner like retro thing was something that they were doing. Now of course, ASICS has been doing that as well. I'm not saying that they were the first to market with the Vomero, but it's the first one that really popularized it in my opinion. I don't think ASICS was doing it like that. They were really pushing like the Gel-Lyte IIIs and Gel-Lyte Vs and stuff, not really the mesh Runner categories that they're going crazy with right now. If I'm wrong though, leave a comment in the comment section, just completely call me out. But this is just my interpretation of what I've seen on the market, and there is a

leaf blower outside, which is always convenient because it's always one I'm trying to record. I wanted to give you guys some words of what Nike says about the Vomero 5. So they do retail at $160, which is kind of a con. The retail price of a retro at 160 is kind of crazy. Personally, I think 140 would have been perfect, 145 probably doable, 160 is a little bit off-putting. The Nike 5 takes early 2000s running to Modern Heights, a combination of breathable and durable materials stand ready for the rigors of your day, while Zoom Air cushioning delivers a smooth ride. Mesh with tough te and utilitarian overlays is breathable and durable. Rubber tread gives you durable traction. So getting into some of the cons about the model, I guess if you're going to throw them out there, I mean obviously like I just said, the price point at 160 is a bit High. I wish they were a little bit lower. Another con is I really do feel like

they should use this model as a platform for maybe a couple more collaborations. I think that there could be some really good ones. Can you imagine if Virgil was still around and he did a Vero 5 like collab? It would be insane. There is like that Japan model that looks really, really nice with the swoosh on the side. That looks really, I mean, I really want that model but uh, there's a couple other ones out there that look really nice. I do feel like they could benefit from additional collaborations, maybe draw a little bit more hype to just some more focused pairs. Because now, I guess the next con if you're going to throw it out there. I don't personally consider it a con but I'm sure some of you guys will uh, is kind of the fact that they're over producing the product now, where there's a bunch of different colorways available there in full size runs and a bunch of different stores. I personally view it as a plus but you guys out there that hate the panda dunks. I mean this is like kind

of like in that sort of category of is this going to happen to this shoe where they're producing it so much that it's going to become less desirable because it's more obtainable. And unfortunately, that's just the EV and flows of sneakers. Uh, when there is something that people are like, I like that, and then other people are like, I like that too, and then Nike goes, Here everybody, and then all of a sudden it's on everybody's feed, and then the next guy over here goes, I don't like that anymore. It's just the way it goes. Personally, I'm still a fan of the dunks. I think it's a great colorway, I think it's a great model. It's a lazy one, yes I know, to some people the fact that you don't have to do anything crazy to pull off a fit. I don't want to have to pull off a fit a lot of times. I want to be able to just be easy going and put on something with not a lot of time consumption. And the leaf blowers are

going crazy again. Anyway, this is one of those shoes that I think can stand the test of time. It had a retro in 18, it came back four or five years later. I feel like it could shelf again here soon, and then they can bring it back again later. So maybe they're doing a big wave right now, now releasing a bunch of different colorways. Maybe they'll fire sale them at outlets for like $65 in the future, who knows. But maybe they shelf them again for a handful of years, and then they move on to, you know, Vomero 4 or Vomero 7, or just one of the other retros out there. That's something I'm surprised that they really didn't do yet. I feel like there's going to be another retro wave that Nike is going to try to push, and some of them are going to be successful, and some of them are not. But this is one that I think they really hit a home run with, and it's crazy to see the unfoldings of how the Vomero.

5 has like just trended over the last two years. Is this a new beginning, beginning of the end if you will, of the Vero FES who's it say, but at the end of the day, I think Nike did a great job with it. I'm happy that I was able to got a pair. And then I was like sold out, sold out, sold out, and then finally now I honestly gave up, and now I'm like, oh, they're actually sitting in stock. This is kind of fire.
