Tinder is working on a number of artificial intelligence initiatives to make dating more rewarding - what they mean is more good dates with less effort. Its parent company, Match Group, says it's working on a tool that looks through a user's photo album to select the five images that represent them best. nearly impossible. Tinder already has other projects in the pipeline to fix that problem. At the moment, select users can test the generative AI tool to enhance their profiles. It can create individual bios based on interests and relationship goals the user has added. It sounds pretty convenient, but do we really want that? According to a recent study conducted in the UK, only a third of dating abusers would be open to using AI to enhance their profiles. Putting yourself out there seems to be a job that's a little too delicate for AI to handle, but the user surveyed had nothing against using AI in other parts of the dating process. 75% of all dating abusers said they would explore using chat GPT to deliver the perfect opening line. Over half of single men would go even a step further; they'd continue using chat GPT in the conversation to make themselves appear more intelligent or interesting, in other words, deceive a potential partner. According to the study, women seem to prioritize other aspects. 51% said that using AI tool if it enabled them to

speak to multiple prospective dates at the same time. That's presumably because it could increase their odds of finding love. With people being willing to use AI to improve their chances in the dating world, app developers are coming up with new ideas. Dating app teaser AI, for example, lets you chat with an AI version of someone before you swipe right or left on them. And with Blush, you can work on your relationship and intimacy skills by flirting with the app's chatbots. The downsides: many AI models currently store the information users give them on servers in order to keep on learning and ultimately improve a user's experience. But when it comes to love, you're no doubt going to get personal, and that means giving up a lot of intimate information. So even if platforms like Tinder promise to not give your data to third parties or hackers, it's a very tempting target. If your private data falls into the wrong hands, there's huge potential to cause you harm. And then there's the issue of romance scammers: these are criminals who feign romantic interest to

gain a victim's affection. They then use that goodwill to get the weakening to send money under false pretenses or to commit fraud. According to the FBI, victims from such scams in the United States reported financial losses of nearly 700 million euros in 2022. Experts argue that AI could supercharge these wrongful practices and enable criminals to carry out tailored and automated scams on a huge scale. What do you think?
