Northern Lights and Weekend Weather Forecast

The Northern Lights were spectacular, with pink hues spreading across the horizon.

Tonight's best viewing opportunity is shortly after sunset, but the geomagnetic storm's impact will settle down tomorrow.

The weekend will be split, with sunshine and 70s on Saturday, followed by returning showers and chilly temperatures on Sunday.

Temperatures will rise from 68 today to 75 tomorrow, before dropping to 63 on Monday and continuing to fall.

High pressure will dominate the forecast next week, bringing the coolest air of the season with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s and 40s.

Rain is expected on Sunday, with a 40% chance, and showers may roll through overnight into early Monday, but the forecast is dry for Tuesday and beyond.

Clouds are thickening as we move into Sunday, with showers expected in the lower Hudson and possibly dipping into the city.

Tonight will be clear but not as crisp, with temperatures around 56 in the city and 40s north and west.

Tomorrow's high will be 75 in the city, and the weather will be good for viewing the comet after sunset.
