BUT THEY'RE ALREADY LONG GONE FROM THE CITY AREA. THIS IS WHAT IS OFFSHORE ON EASTERN SECTIONS OF LONG ISLAND. LOOK WHAT IS GOING ON DOWN HERE. THEY'LL ZOOM INTO THAT. BECAUSE IT IS AFFECTING THE LOWER PORTIONS OF OCEAN COUNTY NOW. BUT MORE SO ATLANTIC COUNTY, CAPE MAY. LIGHTNING STRIKING AT 20 TO 25 STRIKES PER MINUTE IN THIS AREA. THAT IS A HEFTY STORM THERE. It's important to have a quick escape plan for the upcoming storms.

The weather will improve by Monday into Tuesday, with temperatures reaching around 82 degrees.

Weather Update for Westchester County and Long Island

Temperatures are in the mid-70s, with showers and thunderstorms affecting the area.

The storms have mostly passed through the city but are still impacting the lower portions of Ocean County, Atlantic County, and Cape May.

Lightning strikes are frequent in these areas, and there is a possibility of getting affected by the storm later in the day.

Weather Update: Rain, Heat, and Hurricane Beryl

Heavy rainfall is expected from thunderstorms, while Monday into Tuesday will be mostly sunny and warm.

Hurricane Beryl has intensified to a Category 3 and may reach Category 4 as it moves towards the Gulf.

The first alert weather team is monitoring the situation, with a level two out of five for the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes this afternoon.

Temperatures in central and southern New Jersey will feel over 100 degrees, with highs of 85 to 90 degrees in the afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later in the day, particularly north and west of the city, and will continue into the evening.

The weather is forecasted to remain hot and humid for the next few days, with more storms likely on the Fourth of July.
