hi, I'm Porsha Doubleday for Mr. Robot, and I'm Carly Chicken. What you can stream season two of Mr. Robot on Amazon Prime Video on July 13th. So, we're answering some fan questions about the show in case you guys are confused. Now, I'm Carly. We're both Carly. Oh, God. Okay, you go first. Okay, what we read them right? Yeah. Are people liking this so far? Um, what is your favorite thing about playing each of your respective characters? Piara asks. Siara, do you want to go first? Um, sure. Um, I don't know. I mean, there's a lot of things that I like about Angela. Um, it's just really cool having the opportunity to play a really tenacious, strong woman, and especially in the corporate world because, um, I'm an actress and don't really get to experience similar things. And I just like that she is driven by, you know, her own, I don't know. I just like that she has her own drive, and it has nothing to do with her being her as a character.

relying on any male counterparts to have a story. Um, and I feel that way actually about a lot of the all of the women characters on the show. I will say are all very strong and tenacious. Yeah, I love playing Darlene. She's definitely like a dream character of mine just because of all the layers that she has and the experiences that she's going through. And I think as an actor, that makes any role so much fun to play when you're playing, you know, multiple things at once. And I also love being able to represent female hackers and coders and women in tech. Oh, swipe. Describe season three in three words. Comedy. Um, very light-hearted. Um, [Music] you know you're gonna do a lot of this. The exact opposite of everything that I just said pretty much. I'd say fast-paced dark comedy. I'd say fast-paced dark and twisted. Oh, twisted is a good word. Yeah, it is really twisted. It is very twisted for a lot of the characters. Yeah, and I'm so excited about season three because I think it's really

a combination of season one and season two, with the fast-paced story part of season one that we had, and you know, the interesting characters and really getting to know them of season two, and it's like a perfect combination. Yeah, cool. Okay, with that great. Is it difficult to detach from your characters when filming is done for the day? Season one was much harder for me to detach, um, because I think it was new. But I think now, the more you, uh, to me, I feel like the more you understand your character, the easier it is to let go of them at the end of the day, um, because it's not as, you don't become, to me, like, as enmeshed with them. Um, I think it becomes easier to separate when you know, like, this is Darlene, this is Carly. But there definitely are scenes that you do that kind of put you in a wonky place. Yeah, I would say, I don't know, there are some very difficult days, I think, for me. I guess it just kind of depends on your process and what you do.

but I have a very difficult time just detaching in general from um especially if it's a very explosive day. I feel like I go through that energy and it kind of sits with me for a while and it's uh important to kind of decompress and come home with my dog and know that I'm not in that kind of world. Especially in season one, the experiences that Angela has with Terry Colby and the things that he says to her and um you know I can be pretty sensitive to those things myself as like a woman and you know dealing with that being kind of you know treated the way that she is and so that that it just kind of sits with you. It makes you think about things in a different way. I think I would say this season, this season's tricky. There have been some days where I've come home completely emotionally exhausted um yeah but the that like you go through this season. I can't even imagine just wait. I will say that too. It's I think that's the coolest thing.

about being on this show is the evolution of these characters that Sam will never let them do and be one-dimensional. So, there's many things I'm doing in this season that I didn't really anticipate, um, that are kind of soul-crushing, to say the least. Yeah, what's your favorite thing to do to unwind after filming? Puzzle. That's my form of meditation. As I go home and I puzzle and watch TV. Yeah, I don't know, um, I just play with my dog and, uh, stress about the next day and stay up for hours having any attacks. What does unwinding mean? Figure out what to do for the next scenes of the next day. You don't really ever unwind. I don't. I was actually thinking about that last night. I came up with an idea at like three in the morning and I shot up and I was like, I figured it out, and I texted Rami like, you know, a huge paragraph, and this morning he's still in. He was like, I will. I'll get to it.

I'll read it like calm down like don't worry um who's the leader oh what is this we have we have two some questions from people watching oh cool Caitlyn girl what's up which twist on the show has been most surprising so far what is Caitlyn excited I think she does I wish you could see her um which twist on the show has been most pressing so far yours was pretty fun with the sister yeah that was but that wasn't surprising to me hey Caitlin can you answer this question what to me the most bright well it's hard because I feel like I've you know in last season too with Elliott being in jail like I knew all that from the beginning I know that you didn't know the jail thing and so and we're like what is with this dog and like him and this person do you remember that you're like I'm so confused the table read like before that when we like first got the episodes well it's sad because I actually wrote

that down in my notes what I have jail in my notes. What do you mean that I knew and forgot. Sam gives us like this huge, this is fair. Sam gives us this um, he walks through the whole season. So before we do the season, he'll call us individually and it's like an hour to an hour and a half of him just talking the entire time. And like you have to scribble, well I write everything down as fast as I can. But he literally walks you through episode, each episode and where character is going and basically what happens. But he slept sometimes and he slipped because I wrote jail and I was like, what am I going to do. I feel like that didn't answer your question but I hope you're happy. Okay, should we do this? Who's the least computer savvy on the cast? I'd say Romney, such an idiot. Um, did Angela, okay so Sam Khan Cohen, there's no e. Sam, how do you say Portia? Did Angela drink eCorp's Kool-Aid?

how did it feel to betray a rising businesswoman? Um, I don't know that I can answer that because I think actually Sam and we just talked about it the other night. Um, that there was a discovery in that last scene of, uh, what season was it? Season one? Uh, with the Prada shoe moment where he was like, It surprised me that you played the line of feeling uncomfortable with that kind of power, like having that outburst when I say go get the Pradas next. Um, I want the produce next to that line that I couldn't say on the day, and I can't say no. Um, but I think that there's a part of her that's seduced by the idea of having power coming from a place of having all of it stripped from her. Her mom was killed by this company. She's had no, you know, she's, that was stripped from her from a very young age. So, I think that there is something really seductive about having people's, um, respect and being in an environment where she's actually really good at what

she does, so I definitely think there's an aspect of that that's always on her mind that maybe she feels guilty for, which was really interesting. Having those positive affirmations like that for her, she feels guilty and also one idiot. Keep going. Um, so I think that that's, I don't know, I don't know if she's ever actually gone on either side because in the last season, you know, we find out that she's hacking um ecorp. So I think she struggles with that internally throughout just kind of being seduced by that, but at the same time feeling kind of this moral obligation because of her mother. But that's what makes it interesting too, and like what we were saying with the layers, like it wouldn't be as fun if you could say yes or no to that. Like part of the, to me, the excitement of this show is not knowing those answers and like I think a lot of times too, like we don't know those ants, like our characters don't know those answers and are like

trying to figure those things out too of being right, like did I drink, did I, am I doing this or am I not, um, and I think that's like what makes your character too so cool, is like I don't even know if you know, like would Angela be like, I drink, you know, you know, like did I do this or did I not, like I think we're all questioning everything in ourselves, um, and well, that's why it's true to life in that way too, yeah, we all struggle like with these feelings and they kind of clash all the time, like on some days does she feel like it's nice to have people respect her in a different way and to maybe talk down to somebody, yeah, and on other days she hates that environment and feels a lot of shame in being there and you know, wants to take them down, which I think is really relatable, mm-hmm, Katie, I'm not going to be able to pronounce your last name, okay, so this is not, it's just like I'm not Italian.

whose picture is this? Because this is one of your somebody's in here. Okay, sure. Well, you have a cute picture. Okay, I get it. So, okay, uh, hardest scene to shoot last season. That was a good question. Actually, first season, the hardest scene was the scene with me and Elliot about being his sister. That was really hard. Um, I remember that day I was freaking out before because I was like, it's such a big moment and I want to do it justice, but it can't be like soap opera type like, I'm your sister, you should tell that story. That's exactly what you said in the video. I didn't say that. I said, You slaughtered my sister. Um, but last season, what was the hardest scene? What was your hardest scene? That hack sequence was really difficult. I did not know we were shooting that in a runner. So when I was wearing eight-inch heels and I had to be, you know, running up and down stairs and going into a bathroom and putting headphones on and putting the computer and not having my hand slam in the

door, which it did like a couple of times. That was really hard doing that hack sequence with you. My hardest scene I just thought of was with block shooting. Um, we did three scenes at once in the kitchen of the smart house, where we were doing the scene before I killed Susan Jacobs, two of those scenes, and then the scene after I kill her at once. Um, so in like the wide, we did all three of those scenes and then had to like keep switching back and forth. And I went to a really dark place that I was not expecting to go when I tell them that I killed her and then had to go back to the scene where I'm like calm down. And that was like one of the hardest days to go. I normally don't have a problem going back and forth, back and forth like between emotions or whatever, but that was really, really difficult um to do all three at once. Hey, Maureen. Hey, Carly. Oh, oh, great acting on the show. Love how you interpret the characters. Oh my god, thank you. Are there any characteristics

from Darlene or Angela, you can identify with personally. Well, I once murdered someone, so I get it. Um, Lauren's gonna be like, This girl is a freak. Okay, um, I can relate to Darlene, to her tenacity, um, you know, to her, like, kind of balls-to-the-wall, like, not giving up and not really having a filter, um, and just, you know, her determination and also her loyalty. Um, Angela's tricky. Um, I want to say I really like how strong she is. Um, I would say I can—I don't know if I'm as strong as she is, but I really, really like that about her, how driven she is and how much she believes in what she's doing. Um, her seeking justice against the one percent, uh, I can identify with, um, especially right now. Um, and I don't know, the complexity of her emotions, I understand and I think is really interesting. [Music] And her style is amazing, so hopefully I can relate to that, right? Okay, Phil, were you kept in the dark about the twists and turns of the story?

so they were surprised when you got the script. Awesome TV show, by the way. Thanks, Phil. Some of them, yeah. Sam doesn't tell us a lot of what's going on. We don't know, I'm speaking for you, we don't know what's happening in later seasons. Well, in later seasons, but what, like, I don't know overall what's gonna end up happening, but with the season one, like, I think we knew all the twists that were gonna happen. Like, I knew about being a sister and all of those things, but, and he'll tell you that, but it's never the same as, like, when you do get the script and read it because it's more general, your sister, or like, you know, he told me last, like, you're gonna kill someone this season, and then, and you're like, what? But then once you get the script and, like, see the context that it's in and how things play out, that's what, like, I don't know, but I think the big, you know, twist that we know.

well he has did not tell me about white rose, and I kept like questioning him. And I remember reading it at the table read, you know, the scene with a little girl and all these questions, and I was just like, but it's really awkward at table reads because we'll get like the first five scripts, and then we'll go in this warehouse and all come together, and we'll read all of them in two days. So like, we'll read the first five, and then, and then, then we'll read the second half. And but it's always really awkward because you don't know what you're saying. Yeah, so it's like, you're like, it's like caster. Yeah, so sometimes like, I was reading it going, and then she picks up the phone, hello, hello. It's like when newscasters are like, the world's biggest ice cream, and 20 people just died. Like, I feel like that's a cow, whatever you're reading. Yeah, yeah. And then, it's just, you don't know what, or someone, you read a line, and then you're like, oh.

that's your mistake. Your mistake this year was amazing. Pro pros no. Okay, fine, we'll skip it, whatever. Of course, we miss pronouncing, yeah, or you'll read a line that's like, you know, that's supposed to be read a certain way, yeah, read it, be complete, it just like falls flat on its face. Yeah, but I remember I was reading the white rose stuff, and I looked up at him, and Sam just goes [Laughter], looks up, and I still don't know, or will read. He has not explained to me what happened in that conversation. We'll read something, and then I'll be like, what? Like after that, we like haven't seen, and then we'll go outside, and we'll all kind of after each script just guess. Like there's just post-its everywhere between me and Carly if like, oh yeah, during our table, because we will sit next to each other and write on each other. What does that mean? Like do you know what the they're talking about? Well, I know from this season, there's still stuff
