being smart is easy, actually. Drop all of the crap like read three books a week, take a social media detox, or use Anki flashcards. Those things are symptoms of being smart, but you need to know the actual cause. What creates a genius? Yes, there are some people that just naturally have high IQs, but I've seen average people with average IQs become super smart in a really short period of time with only one change. Every genius on the planet has this one thing. It's obvious, but barely anyone talks about the secret: how to develop it. The very obvious thing is the will to learn. Well, that's cool to know, end a video, but not really. It shocks me that they don't teach this in schools, and it also shocks me that I don't see enough people talking about it on the internet. How do you get the will to learn? Well, there are two ways. You can either get it the easy way or you can get it the hard way. Take your pick. The hard way is the way they've probably suggested in schools.

you don't like maths. It hurts your brain too bad. Go through with the pain and do it anyway. This is the method that most people use. The only time this method actually creates genius is when either A) that person has a lot of discipline, or B) they have a huge motivating factor. But most people either don't have this or only have it really close to the exam, like the motivation really starts to kick in when I have a paper that's worth half my grade for tomorrow. But this often produces mediocre or average results because you have to force yourself into doing it. You don't actually like it. There's no intrinsic reason for you to pursue it. But even if you don't have crazy motivation or crazy discipline, the easy method can still work for you. But okay, A word of warning: the easy method will not work for you, I repeat, will not work for you if you have a stubborn mindset and actually enjoy being stubborn. I mean, just think about it, okay? Easy, stubborn. They're literally opposites. If we just take maths as an

example because I have definitely been there once with this subject. If you're the type of person to make hate math an entire personality trait, I hate math, I hate equations, and I'm not interested in getting better. I mean, what's the point in clicking on this video if you aren't interested in getting better? Point being, you can either choose to become more flexible and go down the easy path, or you can continue struggling with it. Good luck, babes. However, for my people that do want to change, the rest of this video is for you. First, really, really important thing I need to drill into your brain: perspective is everything when it comes to learning. The way you see a subject can absolutely make or break how you perform in it. I feel like everyone has had this scenario in school where, at first, they might have hated a subject, couldn't stand it, and then they get assigned to an amazing teacher who

changes the way they see the subject, and then they end up doing amazing, or vice versa. I used to absolutely love religious studies when I was younger, and I used to be so good at it. And then the teacher I had at the end of your n just absolutely ruined it for me. She was not a good teacher. But that's the thing, the subject itself didn't change. Physics is still physics, English is still English. The only thing that the teacher has changed is either A, your perspective on the subjects, and or B, the way that you learned the subject. We do like to blame teachers, even I'm guilty of this, but this isn't completely their fault. We are in charge of our own learning too. There were loads of reasons why you might think that you're not good at a subject. People in your childhood might have told you that you're bad at it. A teacher could have done a horrible job at explaining a concept, and now you just think it's too complicated for you. And I'm sorry to call some of you out, but

somebody had to say it. You might feel like it's easier to fit in with friends who don't like the subject if you don't like it too. We're going to make this video interactive, okay? The first thing that I want you to do is to identify why. Do I think I'm bad at this subject? If you need a little help, I will do it with you. So right now, I'm learning computer programming in my spare time, and I've always had these beliefs about my ability with computing. You're not smart enough to do this. It's too complicated. If I ask myself why, here are some of the answers that come up. You are too emotional and not logical enough to deal with STEM subjects. You should stick to English. Computer programming is too complicated. You'll never get it. Plus, you never got it when you were younger. You can pause the video now and explore your own reasons. The first step is already done, okay? That's simply awareness. Even just being aware of these beliefs means they have less power over you. The next

step is doubting or scrutinizing, whichever term you prefer. Go through each individual reason and find other reasons for why they might not be exactly true. It doesn't have to be a complete outright denial; that's difficult at this stage. It only has to be a doubt. If I go through some of my own doubts for some of these beliefs, okay, for the first belief, I mean, actually, there's quite a lot of logic involved in English. Like, you can't waffle an entire essay and still get 100%. English does actually require more logic than I think a lot of people let on. And plus, even if, let's just say, English required absolutely no logic, logic is a skill that you can develop. Like, yeah, of course, there are just some people that are going to, I don't know, have better skills than you initially, but like, that's literally something that you can practice, and you can get good at. Okay, computer programming is too complicated. One, because I think you

can fit that for a lot of different subjects, and there's a bigger reason why I want to get into. Oh, and the whole you never got it when you were younger thing. Just think about it. There were so many things that we didn't get when we were younger that we probably get now. I know for a fact that if you were to give 5-year-old me a quadratic equation and told her to solve it, I would just side-eye you and walk away. I might still do that today. I'm sorry, I'm not solving quadratic equations for nobody again. Let's just wait till results days. We'll see about that point being. Just 'cause you didn't get something when you were younger or in the past or even a month ago doesn't mean you can't get it now. Now, whenever you're working on whatever subject it is that you're doing, whether it's maths or science or English, and whenever those negative thoughts arise while you're doing it, you just go in and logically doubt them. Them and you.

do this again and again and again until your brain just kind of gives up on reminding you of them. But there's one belief in particular that was the one I just talked about that I think a lot of people might have, and it links to the next reason, okay? And that belief is, It's just too complicated for me. Now, this is the second factor and links to the way that you learn and the whole teacher change thing. So, for most of year 10 and 11, I would not get science. Like, I would just sit there in the class, act like I'm paying attention, um, listen to the teacher, and it's just going through one ear and out the other. Then I would come back home, okay, and then watch a free science lessons video on it, and in 4 minutes, this guy's made me understand what my teacher was trying to explain to me for a whole hour. I cannot make this stuff up. But because of this example, I truly believe that no subject is too complicated to learn, and if it is, then

you're learning it the wrong way. Some teachers are absolutely amazing, and they can explain anything in a way that anyone can understand. And to put it bluntly, some teachers just suck, and there is nothing that we can do about that. Obviously, if you have, I don't know, you go to a school, and there's more than one teacher for a subject, you can ask another teacher, teacher, you can try online resources, but if all of that fails, there is one teacher out there that, okay, 90% of the time, doesn't suck, that can teach you anything in any way, and that everyone has access to. Sound too good to be true? It's AI, baby. Okay, it's ChatGPT. I just asked ChatGPT to explain the fundamentals of quantum physics to me as if I were a 5-year-old, and I actually get what it's saying, and it's even simple enough for 5-year-old me to have understood that too. There's no way it just explained the Heisenberg uncertainty principle that simply and that easily. So I asked it to expand and

tell me more this time but as if I were a GCSE student, and it flipping worked, and I still flipping got it, but I had a question. I got the equation, but I didn't get why you needed to divide by 4 Pi at the end. I just thought it was a bit random, so I asked, and it's still bloody explained it to me. I just still can't believe that we're living in an age where stuff like this exists, and it's free. But one thing to know is that chat GPT can make mistakes. I would look at a textbook. Let's just say I'm not understanding it, ask chat GPT. Now I understand it, go back to the textbook, and suddenly it all makes sense. Obviously, as technology is getting better and better, these sources are going to become more accurate and more reliable for these things. You can even ask GPT to help you find ideas on how to romanticize it or to just change your perspective on it in general. For example, I used to absolutely dread doing math.

papers, but I watched the GCSE video that schaa did, and then from then onwards, doing math papers became like a game to me. It's a competition, it's a game, and all the 15 and 16-year-olds in England are playing. There's 80 points up for grabs in this game, and I've got one hour 30 minutes to grab as many of those points as I can. Because it was so much more fun to me, 'cause I saw it as a game, I did loads of practice papers, and well, in theory, I'm supposed to improve. We'll see on results day, but the last step is probably the most important but is also the hardest. Now you've got to actually do something. If it's math, then it's math.
