later this year, Apple said to be releasing three different pairs of AirPods, two of which we've heard quite a lot about. The first is a new pair of AirPods 4 with some major changes and the long-awaited refresh of AirPods Max 2. But then there's this other model that nobody is really talking about that's also set to release before the end of 2024. That's been a pretty big secret. And this, according to the rumors, is a brand new pair of headphones known as AirPods Light, which would be situated at the lowest end of Apple's AirPods lineup, kind of like an AirPods SE-style model. So just like Apple's other SE products, the idea behind an AirPods Light is actually pretty simple. Apple wants to release something that is technically new without it actually being new or costing Apple a lot to produce because Apple's favorite thing in the whole world is to have a product for you at any price point regardless of how much money you

want to spend look at the iPhone lineup. If you have over a grand, they've got the iPhone Pro Models. Less than a grand, you've got the regular iPhone models. And less than $500, of course, the iPhone SE. And when you look at Apple's entire AirPods lineup right now, you can see that they have technically been trying to do this by continuing to sell the AirPod second generation for $129, which sounds like a good deal until you consider that these have a ridiculously outdated design that still has the incredibly long stems, and the sound quality and even the Bluetooth spec is just severely outdated by now. The benefit of products like Apple's iPhone SE, for example, that starts at a low $400 price point, is that it still has one of Apple's newest processors. Apple's not still selling the iPhone 7 for $400 in 2024. They're selling a new iPhone SE, which sounds and looks cooler. So, over the past few years, Apple's been working on the replacement and the biggest part of their story, like with

most of Apple's cheapest products is going to be the actual price point. Because according to one report, Apple's planning to sell the AirPods Light for just $99, which would be the cheapest pair of AirPods they have ever released by a huge margin. Now, at this point, we have not heard these specific details about exactly what design Apple is going to be choosing for AirPods Light or even the specific feature set that is rumored. But considering that these will be a lower-end model, you should probably see them in between the current AirPods second generation and the current AirPods 3, where I would guess that Apple chooses a design that is maybe a couple of years old but still feels new enough and features like okay sound quality as well as decent battery life. But of course, intentionally designing these with some pretty big flaws to make you want something a bit more expensive. So case closed then mystery solved for these new $99 AirPods Light. Not exactly because I think they actually directly tie into

the rumors we've been hearing about the next major AirPods update for 2024, which is the brand new version of AirPods fourth generation. See, Apple's doing something pretty curious this year. They're not releasing just one pair of AirPods 4. They're said to be releasing two different pairs of AirPods 4 that are segmented in a pretty unique way. According to the rumors, Apple is making three major changes on this first pair of AirPods 4. Starting off with number one, a brand new design. Apple's going to be improving the fit and the finish of these so it works for even more people, and that will likely enable them to sound even better. Second up, this one is huge. The big change is that Apple is finally adding active noise cancellation to this pair of headphones. Normally, you'd have to buy the $250 AirPods Pro to get these, but not any longer. But notably, the ear tips on these AirPods 4 will not be interchangeable like on AirPods Pro. So if you want the best

possible noise cancellation, of course, Apple still wants you to buy those. And the third major change on here is Apple adding a significantly upgraded case. It's likely going to have a speaker, a built-in U1 chip for Find My functionality, maybe even the ability to charge it with an Apple Watch charger. And most exciting, Apple is getting rid of Lightning. They are adding USB-C on these AirPods, which is going to make them so much easier to charge. inside which would not only improve audio quality but reduce latency, and even improve battery life. Maybe up to an hour at a time, and perhaps Apple could bring down the volume stem controls from AirPods Pro 2 as well, allowing you to adjust the volume on the fly, which is probably my favorite feature on any pair of AirPods ever. That's the first version of AirPods 4. I think these are going to be incredibly popular; people have been asking for noise cancellation under $200 for a super long time, and frankly, I see these being a hit, which is why I'm honestly a bit confused by the second model of AirPods 4 that Apple is making because, well, this pair of AirPods is only rumored to get one major change, and that is a new design of some kind. Likely it will look similar to the other pair of AirPods 4, but on this version, you're missing out on pretty much everything else. There's no noise cancelling; the case will have USBC, but

won't include features like the speaker or find my and in general. It just sounds like the feature set on this pair of AirPods 4 will be a lot lighter than the other pair of AirPods 4, and they don't really sound like that much of an upgrade over AirPods 3. Which is when I started to connect the dots of everything else that we just talked about. Like I don't know about you, but this second version of AirPods 4 without the noise cancelling, without the new case, without any major additional features, it kind of sounds like the perfect SE model where Apple would be changing one key thing to make it a bit more interesting without adding any of the serious features that Apple wants you to pay more money for. But of course, if Apple, you know, they really want to get some money from you, they've got that one model at the high end, and a model that myself and I think a lot of you have been waiting to see for years at this point. And this is the long-awaited

release of the second generation pair of AirPods Max, Apple's super-premium over-ear headphones that have not been updated in nearly 4 years since they debuted in December of 2020. Numerous rumors have said they are finally dropping this year, so what does Apple have in store? Well, the first thing is USB-C. Apple is getting rid of the Lightning port on here so you can use USB-C on your AirPods Max, which I'm so hyped for. In the second change, there are also some new color options for AirPods Max, although we don't know exactly what colors yet. And that is actually that's it for AirPods Max. Now, I know you're like, you're lying, that can't be real, these haven't been updated in 4 years, Apple has to have a massive revamp plan. Well, according to every credible rumor that I found, that is not the case. There's no redesign, Apple's not even said to be upgrading the chip on the inside, it's still going to be the old H1.

chip from 2020. And this, by the way, makes absolutely no sense. Apple genuinely had the opportunity in four years to do something transformative with AirPods Max. To improve their design, to make them lighter, and fix some of the big pain points like the headband and not being all that durable. But we've heard none of that. We've just heard that Apple's add a USB-C and they might look a little bit prettier. If this is legitimately all that Apple changes for AirPods Max 2, I will be fascinated as to how Apple markets these because the first pair was huge. It was a major departure from the buds for Apple and it was really a big hit in a lot of ways. AirPods Max 2 just not sounding like that so far. But if there's one pair of AirPods and probably the pair that a lot of you have been waiting to hear about this entire video, it is of course the next generation of Apple's Pro AirPods, AirPods Pro 3.

straight up these are not releasing in 2024. The earliest release date we've heard is next year in 2025, and it sounds like it is going to be a pretty big step forward with a major redesign, maybe the ability to use AirPods Pro 3 as legit hearing aid replacements. There's even been some talk that AirPods Pro 3 could lose their stems entirely, so they would just be the buds themselves and nothing else, but all of that is just a bit too far away. We just genuinely don't have that much info about AirPods Pro 3 yet, but I'll keep you updated as we learn more.
