On Papa, listen to me. No matter what happens, I want you to run. Keep running. Promise me that. Take this. Your mother would want you to have it. Now get up, boy. Run! Go. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Many people believe that science and

superstition can never meet. Two points at opposite ends of a spectrum. Although my mother died when I was very young, she taught my father differently. Science and superstition, they're flip sides to the same coin. He was known only as the Baron, and

his wife, who was pregnant with his only child, was sick. She was dying, and so in fear of losing his only heir, the Baron turned to someone he had only heard rumors about, a medicine man who lived in the countryside. A man who could supposedly

perform miracles. My father, but there are some illnesses that even my mother's teachings cannot help cure. I'm very close, but I need more time. Your Lordship, finding the right balance is key. It is too soon, and if you do not act now, it will be too

late. You will administer the next treatment. And so, my father, against his better judgment and knowledge, attempted to cheat death. [Music] What happened? I have saved you and our child. You are a murderer. I did only as you asked. I tried to save

her. Have mercy. Do you really think you're a man who can make demands of me? Grief can manifest itself in many ways. The Baron chose hate. [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Who are you? Something you

[Music] Created, please. I'll give you whatever you want. What I want: death. [Music] Leave him. He's a vile man. He's not worthy of your protection. I care nothing for him. He is but a roach that scavenges the Earth, just waiting for his time to be

squashed. Then why? Why have you... It is not his time and it is not yours. I'm sorry. I failed you again, father. [Music] You must finish what you've started. [Music] I thought this would be easier for you, but I guess you truly are the coward I

always imagined you to be. Do it, or I will kill you and then I will kill him. Do it, please. [Music] Why? Why did you demand this of me? You believe this man killed your wife. Surely he deserves to die. Who am I to deny your

justice? Who are you? I am the Baron of Laria. I demand... Do you really think you are a man who can make demands of me? You are alive now because I allow it, nothing more. But why? Because sometimes certain things need to happen. Specific choices need to be

made. People need to die, no matter how painful it may be, so that a man can be set upon the correct [Music] path. You are talking about fate in some way, I suppose. But I like to think of it as something more specific, a form of

destiny. The rules. Above all else, powerful and [Music] unstoppable. Yes, some may call that fate, but for me, I call it Doom. [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey, hey! Are you supposed to be here? This is equipment storage. It's off

limits unless you have permission from The Faculty. I was working on a class assignment. It's 3:00 a.m. I tend to procrastinate. The professors don't want students working in the lab unsupervised. Did you build this? Is this

it is this a temporal Arc Reactor? You said a class assignment experiment for what? It doesn't matter, it failed. H, interesting calculations. It looks like you were trying to triangulate an electronic energy to an exact set of coordinates. Groovy stuff, but did you factor in tonight's

cosmic ray storm that might have accounted for some of your troubles? You see, I'm I'm sort of a cosmic ray expert, and uh I'm rambling. Um, I'm I'm sorry, what did you say your name was? I didn't I'm Reed, Reed Richards.
