My Heart Goes Out; There's a neighborhood on the European side of Istanbul, Türkiye, called Etiler

It's a wealthy neighborhood where rich people live, where Salt Bae's flagship restaurant is located. This area doesn't have subway access, so we need to travel by bus.

This restaurant is right in front of the bus stop, which means it's perfectly located.

Nusret Gökçe is Salt Bae's real name. He named his restaurant after himself.

This restaurant opens at 12 o'clock. Usually, during dinner, all the tables are fully booked.

You can reserve your seats in advance via OpenTable. But if you're going for lunch,

you can just walk in without a reservation. Finally, we came inside. They're selling Salt Bae's merchandise on the left side of the entrance.

They have aprons, t-shirts, knives, and, of course, salt. I'll talk about this salt in detail later.

They also have dry-aging fridges on this side. Beef, such as whole sirloin with bones,

and tomahawk, seem to be dry-aged well. Salt Bae recently opened a new restaurant in the U.S.

So Salt Bae wasn't here at this restaurant, but his older brother was, as you'll see later in this video.

All the beef was beautifully organized in the cold cabinet. Most of it is for steaks. And the majority of the chefs here have wonderful showmanship.

They all professionally showed me the beef with a bright smile, so I was able to enjoy filming this video as a YouTuber.

Even the chefs who were working in the kitchen waved at me! I never asked them to; they all did it voluntarily (hahaha).

At first, they were just organizing the beef, but when I started filming them, they brought out flowers from nowhere,

and decorated the cabinet wonderfully. The grills are placed in a mountain shape, and the charcoals are fully put inside.

I'm guessing the charcoals are gathered in a certain part, and other parts are not, so chefs are proficiently searing beef on the side where charcoals are gathered,

and grilling the inside on the side where charcoals are not gathered. Let me tell you my brief review first.

My experience at 'Nusr-Et', Salt Bae's restaurant, was more satisfying than I expected.

But one thing you need to consider is that when I reserved a table, I told them in advance that I'm a Korean YouTuber.

So you should take that into consideration, as they might have put more effort in for me. Now, I'm finally walking into the restaurant.

Firstly, the restaurant was surrounded by a glass wall, so it felt special. They only used four colors as well:

black, silver, red, and green. As Salt Bae has become a world-star chef, his restaurant was very fancy and spectacular.

They don't have any physical menu, such as a booklet or paper. You need to scan this QR code via phone, and the menu will pop up.

One of the most interesting things about the table setting was the salt. As you can see, it looks like sea salt; it seems very luxurious.

It looks very delicious. As for the cutlery, the forks weren't that special, but Salt Bae was written on the knives.

I'm guessing this is the groundwork for them to sell these as merchandise. As I've come to a restaurant that I would never be able to visit again for the rest of my life,

I invited my subscribers. They're a married couple, and I came with my wife as well.

So we gathered as four. She's fluent in Turkish, so she helped me get filming permission and order food.

I ordered five dishes: three mains and two side dishes. Tomahawk and sirloin steaks are Salt Bae's flagship menu,

But as a YouTuber, I ordered three dishes that are most popular for their performance. First, the salad came out (Goat Cheese Salad for 2 people, 170 lira ≈ 9,800 won).

They sprinkled salt when it arrived. This salad was made with balsamic sauce. Wow! They seem to use at least twice as much balsamic sauce as we do in South Korean Western restaurants.

I was surprised by how salty it was, but it was nice with the beef. This salad was a good side dish.

So that was my review of the salad. Next is Salt Bae's popular menu, a butter steak (NUSR-ET Special for 2 people, 980 lira ≈ 74,000 won).

I ordered it for two people. It's a tenderloin steak—no words needed. Sprinkling salt...

The way they sprinkle the salt allows for even seasoning. A server comes and flips the beef.

As my subscribers know, my video on Salt Bae's butter steak has thankfully gotten high view counts.

I used clarified butter, called ghee, to recreate the steak. But as you can see, this butter is producing yellow foam.

Clarified butter doesn't make yellow foam. One thing I can say for sure is that if we use butter from supermarkets,

it would just burn black. They used clarified butter that wasn't completely clarified. I'm guessing they're using Salt Bae's restaurant's own special butter.

The bread is already toasted and soaked in the melted butter, which makes the taste amazing. So the butter is more important than you'd expect.

As I cut it with a knife, you can see the inside is pink; it's cooked to a good medium.

It's time to taste Salt Bae's steak that I've been dreaming of! It tastes different. You can see me being surprised, right?

It tastes completely different, in a good way, from the one I recreated in my video. I thought I did a great job recreating it,

but I haven't, haha. The real one is way more delicious, while mine tastes so poor. I'm guessing the tenderloin's quality is comparable to Hanwoo 1+.

Which means that the beef itself is not the main, but the butter makes it better. That combination of well-seasoned beef and bread tastes splendid.

I didn't really expect it to be this good. A restaurant or a chef who has developed and created this

should be recognized. This beautiful savory makes me think that way. I'd like to strongly recommend this Nusr-Et special menu

to those who are traveling in Türkiye. Next menu is here (Sirt for 2 people, 990 lira ≈ 74,500 won).

This is also a tenderloin steak. This menu might be new to those of you who know about Salt Bae and the Nusr-Et restaurant.

As I studied Salt Bae's SNS and the menu, I was curious about why this menu isn't popular on SNS,

so I wanted to see it. The name of this menu is Sirt Steak. No words needed; let's have a look.

Sprinkling a huge amount of salt again. They put something yellow inside and press it hard to roast it.

It's a chunk of beef fat. As I've already mentioned, Salt Bae's restaurant is not using

a good quality beef with marbling, so if they use fat oil that acts the same as the marbling part,

it makes the beef better. So they're roasting the inside of the beef by putting beef fat and pressing it.

Even if you put that much salt on the tenderloin steak, it doesn't get seasoned inside, so it might taste a bit light.

So that pressed fat tastes good. That's a Maillard reaction chunk now, right? It tastes special to eat the fat chunk with the beef cut.

It drives me crazy. Compared to the Nusr-Et Special, what I felt eating this steak was that

Salt Bae's restaurant is using a special salt. I even tried eating a pinch of salt, but it's not that salty.

The salt itself is savory. The texture is great as well, and I can taste something deep. It's not the same salt as the one we're familiar with.

I'm impressed with how the Salt Bae steak tastes, so I recreated the butter steak at home.

I'm going to try Salt Bae steak in my next video. I hope you look forward to it.

I ordered a baked potato (Baked Potato 55 lira ≈ 4,500 won). As I came here with my subscribers who have been living in Turkey for a long time,

she recommended I try it. I was actually thinking if I really needed to eat this expensive potato,

but the potato itself is huge, which surprised me. A server expertly made a salad out of it.

Sprinkling a lot of salt again! Like a child playing with clay, he shared each portion with us in beautiful shape.

This potato tastes so good! I was so surprised. I'm assuming the potato itself tastes good,

but the butter inside of it tastes good as well. It only contains potato, butter, and salt, but I have no idea how it could taste this good.

If you're traveling in Turkey, I hope you try a potato restaurant or a potato dish. I strongly recommend it.

Last dish, a lamb chop is here (Kafes 1,475 lira ≈ 111,000 won).

The Nusr-Et Special was for two people, and the Salt Bae steak was for two people as well,

but we could only order the lamb chops as a whole. Look at how beautifully it's been decorated!

Sprinkling salt rain, haha! A large amount of salt has been sprinkled, but once again, it's not as salty as the ones we're familiar with.

So, even if they sprinkle that much, it still tastes good. As we were about to eat this, half the tables were already filled.

I didn't see any travelers here.  The majority were locals who looked wealthy. Most of them ordered this menu.

I'm guessing that the locals think lamb chops are the most delicious; Salt Bae's signature menu.

No words needed! This well-grilled lamb chop was so savory. But there's one thing you should keep in mind:

As a meat-eater, I eat lamb chops quite often. As butter is added to the Nusr-Et Special

and beef fat is added to the Sirt Steak, they taste superior to the ones I make.

But this lamb chop tastes the same, but more well-made. So, if you're someone who eats lamb skewers or lamb chops often,

I don't think you need to order this. Since you came all the way to Salt Bae's restaurant,

it's better to try Salt Bae's original and special menu. But I want to emphasize that the lamb chops are a high-quality menu item.

So I hope you don't get me wrong. It was soft and well-grilled. To sum up,

I ordered Nusr-Et Steak for 2 people, Sirt Steak for 2 people,

and lamb chops as a whole. I ordered this much for the YouTube video, so I thought that this amount wasn't for 4 people

as we ordered a potato and a salad, and we might have some leftovers, but we ate them all

because it was so good... The subscribers who came with us said that it was way better than they expected.

They said that nothing was bad. I was able to enjoy the meal. Now, how much would it be?

It's 3,886 lira, which is about 300,000 won. One thing I can say for sure is that

The Turkish Lira's value has decreased significantly, so everything in Turkey is cheap right now.

I stayed at a 5-star hotel for only 2,000 lira, which is less than 200,000 won.

That's like staying two nights at a 4- or 5-star hotel, including meals.

This restaurant is expensive, but as someone who lives in Seoul, I only paid 300,000 won for four people after eating delicious steaks

with a wonderful performance. By Seoul standards, it's a bargain. Just watching the chefs cook

and come up to show you the beef was enjoyable and memorable. The person wearing the red apron is Salt Bae's older brother.

It seems Salt Bae's older brother manages this flagship restaurant. This concludes my review of Salt Bae's flagship restaurant, Nusr-Et Steakhouse Etiler.

OUTRO: Bathroom Review Wow! The bathroom is so fancy... Even the bathroom is Salt Bae's style!

I feel like I could wash my feet here, to be honest. It's too luxurious to actually use anything here though.
