Okay, I don't think I've ever seen anything written about what the artist consumes before the artist starts their journey. However, I know what I consume right before I went off and made clerks. Right before I started my entire career, I was knee-deep, crotch-deep, if you will, in Neil Gaiman's Sandman. That was the last meal of sustenance I ate before I went out and became a creator, and you could see its influence in my work. You're sitting there going, What? I don't remember the dreaming in clerks. No, but I don't get to dogma without Sandman. Neil Sandman turned my mind on. That's how I got to dogma, the idea of dealing with the supernatural in the mundane world, as well stolen directly from him, including like a draft of the script where I took a Lucifer speech almost verbatim, thinking, You know, it was the 90s.
