chosen has just broken silence on a quote that has caused untold controversy over the last few days. In the last video, we reviewed the season 3 trailer of this series, and in the video, I mentioned how I didn't know of a scripture that directly tied to the part where the actor who played Jesus said, I am the law of Moses. I mentioned how I thought it could have been a reference to John 1, with Jesus being the word, or a reference to Matthew 5:17, where Jesus says that he came to fulfill the law. But ultimately, I said that I just wasn't sure. And after I posted the video, I got some comments from people speculating what other verses the passage could have come from. But all of a sudden, things started to take a sudden change, and people started saying that the quote was definitely from The Book of Mormon. Now, I've been on YouTube long enough to know that when you have a video that's been up for a while, and then seemingly out of nowhere, everyone starts making virtually the

exact same comment that no one seemed to make before that moment. Then you can assume that another creator made that point in another video or a post. In my case, there was a specific moment when everything changed. At a certain point, almost every single comment coming in was all of a sudden declaring that the I am the law quote came from The Book of Mormon. And when it comes to the time frame, I noticed that all of them seemed to start coming in after the channel Wretched posted this comment on their page. They wrote, The Jesus of the chosen says he is the law of Moses. The Jesus of the Bible never says this. The false Jesus of the Book of Mormon, however, also says he is the law. We hate to say we told you so, but the chosen is heavily influenced by the theology of the LDS church. Now, as soon as I saw this post, my first thought was to verify that the Book of Mormon has Jesus saying that he is the law of Moses. So, I Googled the statement to try to find the exact quote.

but I couldn't find it, and so I looked into the commas to see what passage they were referring to, and I saw that wretched said that it came from third Nephi 15:9. But ironically, the verse doesn't have Jesus saying that he is the law of Moses; it only has him saying that he is the law. It says, Behold, I am the law and the light. Look unto me and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life. Now, you could say that the quote from The Chosen was inspired by the verse in the Book of Mormon, but you could also say that it was inspired by other passages in the Bible, like Matthew 5:17, for example, where Jesus says that he came to fulfill the law. So, is it Mormon theology for Jesus to be the law of Moses? Well, the face of wretched Todd Frill, he himself even says that God is the law on page 53 of his book Jesus Unmasked. He writes, The laws

of God are a perfect representation of His character and nature. God is the law, so it seems to me that if Todd is right in saying that Jesus is the law, it is a direct influence from The Book of Mormon. Then either someone else could be valid in saying that his theology was also influenced by The Book of Mormon, or the reality is the claim that Jesus is the law can be derived from the Bible apart from The Book of Mormon, which I personally think is a much more charitable way of understanding what's being said. Some now, of course, since Jesus saying that He is the law could be inspired from either the Bible or The Book of Mormon, the best way to find out if it was influenced by The Book of Mormon or not would be to see what Dallas or the chosen crew said about the quote. And thankfully, on another creative channel, it appears that they have clarified that the quote is not from The Book of Mormon. I recently received a comment on my YouTube channel from The Chosen where they say thanks for the

thoughtful approach to be clear. Dallas has no association with the LDS church, just some people who are LDS. And of course, the Moses law quote isn't from The Book of Mormon, but folks love to look for controversy, so there you have it. So now we have confirmation that the quote wasn't in fact inspired by The Book of Mormon. And personally, all this makes me think deeper about how we as Christians can so easily underestimate our sin nature. I realize that even as I was preparing for this video, I always have this tendency to want to see others as the bad guys and see myself as being in the good guy count. And sometimes that bias can cause me to see things that aren't even there. All of us have this same tendency to want to demonize another group and make no effort whatsoever to try to charitably understand where they're actually coming from. As a result, we find ourselves being slow to listen, quick to speak, and quick to get angry, which is exactly backwards to what James tells us to do in James 1.

19 where he tells us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. But on these platforms, it's incredibly easy for us to do the exact opposite, and our sin nature will always find a way to justify our behavior. But as we, as Christians, continue to develop a presence online, I think that more than ever, we need to be striving towards that goal. And by no means am I saying that we shouldn't have people that are watching out for heresy and other issues in the church, but what I am saying is we should do so by taking James's advice, being aware of our sin nature, and the fact that we didn't do anything to earn our salvation should keep us humble. And the more humble that we are, the easier it is for us to give others, including Christians, the same charity that we hope to receive for ourselves online as well. Now, I know that that's difficult, and I talk more about it and also the pressure that we face as Christian influencers, and also how I felt at it in this video.
