all right, this whole tiger versus grizzly bear debate is probably the most popular topic in the animal community right now. But are you ready to shake things up? 'Cause I know I am. So, when it comes to the Earth's ultimate predator, what do you envision? Surely the tiger comes to mind, right? Well, what if I told you that there is one animal that keeps beating the tiger over and over again in these matchups? Now, I'm not talking about elephants; I'm talking about bears. And you know what? I think a lot of y'all have been straight-up lied to about tigers and their abilities. Seriously, people hype them up to be some kind of unstoppable creature, which is incorrect. There are a lot of animals that can straight-up murk a tiger, and surprise, surprise, some of them are brown bears. I'm getting tired of everyone thinking that a Siberian tiger is a good match for a grizzly bear or a straight-up polar bear. Like, what? We're talking about the same cat here, right? You know, the one whose larger relative straight-up

struggled against a sloth bear. This is not an it can go either way situation. No, no, it can't. Brown bears straight up murk Tigers, but I digress. In today's video, I will be explaining why Tigers don't fare well against brown bears, and I'm sure a lot of you have heard many misconceptions about tigers hunting bears. But that statistic is not only blatantly exploited but is also misrepresented in straight-up lies. But more on that later. Anyways, in this video, I want to use actual scientific reasoning to the whole tiger versus bear debate and give y'all the honest truth. And also, before we start, I would appreciate it if y'all subscribed and commented on this video. It will help my channel grow. Anyways, now this video may make me come across as some tiger hater, but I'm far from that. They literally are one of my favorite animals alongside rhinos, and dare I say I like them more than Bears. Yeah, in fact, I like tigers so

much. I have literally written scientific reports about them, done an unhealthy amount of research concerning their behavior, and participated in Big Cat conservation, with one of the activities being helping raise a tiger cub. But I don't let my bias fool me from the truth, and I hope y'all don't either. So, tigers are no doubt incredible creatures, but they literally get hyped up beyond belief. I guess the problem I have stemming from the tiger versus bear topic is the amount of misinformation being spread. But anyway, let me specify which bear we are going to be talking about. I will be referencing brown bears specifically, grizzlies, and the Siberian tiger's rival, the Asseri brown bear. We will be pushing aside the Kodiak bear for now because, well, it often shares the title of the largest bear with its polar cousin, with mature males averaging between 1,000 and 1,200 lb. So yeah, the tiger would be definitely taking a massive L going against the Kodiak bear. And speaking of tigers, I will be specific.

talking about the two largest subspecies, those being the Bengal tiger and the Siberian tiger. So, without anything further to ado, let's take a deep dive into why brown bears beat tigers. Size and physique. It's no surprise that tigers and bears are built different, but which build is superior for a fight, and what advantages do each one of these animals have? Well, let's find out right now. So, first things first, we should get some background stats of each animal. So, I guess let's start with one of my favorites, the tiger. These animals are perhaps one of the most feared and deadly animals on Earth. They've been given the nickname striped assassin, but perhaps their sleek, muscle-dense build is what makes them so deadly. And, well, I don't think any of the deers or wild boars they hunt would disagree. They are large cats and are capable of achieving incredible feats such as dragging cows and... and wait, hold up, I can't take this seriously. There are people actually out there that think that tigers are capable

of paralyzing animals with a roar. Yeah, that's BS. But anyways, so just how big are these cats? Let me address this question with an example. If I ask you what is the largest tiger, which do you think it is? If you think the Siberian tiger, then you'd be incorrect. You see, contrary to popular belief, the Siberian tiger is actually the second largest tiger. I know they weigh has been hyped up, but in actuality, they're kind of smaller than one may think on average. So currently, a male Siberian tiger typically weighs between 353 to 418 lb, with the average falling around 389 lb. Now, I can already hear the tiger fans say that they weigh 660 lb. Yeah, no, no, they don't. The only few tigers that ever approached that weight were obese zoo residents. You see, a lot of sites like this say up to 660 lb. This does not paint an accurate image or picture of what they typically look like, but more so demonstrates their outlying exceptions. When someone says a tiger,

weighs 600 lb. It's like saying Andre the Giant is the average human. Yeah, that's very much not the case, but I digress. Now, if we move on to the Bengal tiger, it gets pretty interesting. Surprisingly, there actually isn't a whole lot of stats under their average size, but one reliable source I could find states that male Bengal tigers in central India weighed between 368 to 5115 lb, with the average being somewhere around the 420 lb mark. But okay, okay, those are some monstrously large cats, especially knowing that a house cat scratch can hurt. But speaking of monsters, how do brown bears compare? Well, let's perhaps start with the most famous one, the grizzly bear. It was granted a scientific nickname, Ursus Arctos Horribilis, which literally means the dreadful brown bear. And when scientists give an animal the word dreadful in the name, you know it's an absolute unit. I mean seriously, they've been known to shrug off some gunshots and even a

juvenile bear has been known to survive getting hit by a car going 40 m an hour, so yeah, they're pretty durable. But what's even more impressive is their size. Now, according to this research paper, which determined the size of varying grizzly bears in the US, male interior Grizzlies average between 425 to 675 lb. That's cool. Now, however, Grizzlies in the coastal region of Alaska get much larger. The research article states that males typically weigh around 860 lb. So yeah, right now, the grizzly is dwarfing any tiger subspecies on average. But how about the other bear I mentioned, you know, the one that actually lives with tigers, the Asiatic brown bear? So why did I choose this bear? Well, you see, they do live in the same habitat as Siberian tigers, and thus there are misconstrued notions that these bears get mopped by tigers, which is not the case one bit. But more on that soon. So how large is the Asiatic brown bear? Hey, yeah, well, you see

I actually put in a lot of research into this, but there isn't actually a whole lot of information about this. The best data I could find stated that they weighed anywhere between 440 to 1300 lb, so kind of in the same ballpark as the grizzly. Now, that's still a lot larger than any tiger on average, but okay people, we get it, size isn't everything, right? How about their build? Well, this was never a fair fight to begin with. The bear has a big size advantage, but surely they are not built the same. And no, no, they aren't. So, let's examine that. Tigers, they are very explosive creatures, and it's fair to say that they pack a lot of muscle under their striped coat. I mean seriously, just take a look at this beast of a cat. That thing is jacked. But anyways, what makes it unique? Well, apart from, well, you know, it having stripes, it's very densely packed with lean muscle. So, where is the muscle distributed, and how would it be

useful in a fight. Well, you see, a Tiger's body is pretty slender and elongated, so there isn't a whole lot of muscle there, but rather its limbs. You see, if we take an in-depth look, tigers have a longer humorous bone compared to their forearms. What does that mean? Well, it translates to them being very agile and springy. This is further backed up by their spine being a lot more flexible compared to other fings. Essentially, when they hunt or fight, they like to spring up and PAW swipe at their opponents. This method of fighting is rather unique among cats, especially when concerning that their fighting style is, well, basically like a bear mimic. And speaking of bears, how do they compare to Tigers? Well, first things first, brown bears are a lot more bulky. Their whole defense puts the Tigers to shame. They have very thick coarse fur and a lot of fat covering their body. This in turn makes them a lot more tanky than the tiger. And if I must bring further proof since some tiger enthusiasts are still oblivious.

people specifically develop larger and more powerful weapons to take down brown bears compared to tigers. But I digress. How about their muscles? Well, even though the tiger is more muscle-dense, brown bears are more powerful. By the way, muscle density cannot actually be used to determine how strong an animal is because all it means is just that they have less fat on them. Just for reference, a tiger is a lot more muscle-dense than an elephant, but would you say that a tiger is stronger than an elephant? No, not one bit. Oh yeah, also bears and tigers are built different, and a brown bear is like twice the size of a tiger, so their anatomy cannot be directly compared. Anyways, one thing to note is that brown bears, in particular grizzlies, have a massive shoulder hump, which is literally their shoulder muscle. But why such large shoulders? Well, they're used for manipulating heavy objects. They've been known to achieve feats such as knocking over a 700 lb dumpster like nothing and tossing several hundred lb rocks aside, which you don't really see.

tigers achieving that. Furthermore, a brown bear's bones are a lot more robust and just have an overall heftier frame. Also, remember how I said tigers stand up and fight? Yeah, well, that's basically the bear's specialty. Brown bears have a more robust and square-like pelvis compared to the slender hip bone of the tiger. What does that mean? Well, having such a strong pelvis enables the bear to stand up and fight for long periods of time. This, in turn, increases their stability and overall power outputs but sacrifices agility. Yes, see, this is different than the tiger's fighting method, of which they just spring up and bat at each other. They can't really balance all too well standing up, unlike bears. Oh yeah, one more thing. Brown bears have an insane amount of endurance compared to tigers. Like, seriously, it's not even close. Grizzlies have been known to fight for over 10 minutes and have been known to outrun horses until exhaustion. Yeah, I would love to see a tiger try to do that. You see, tiger fights last for only a few

minutes if that, and they usually are very sporadic and not continuous, like the Bears fights. Anyways, we get it, the Bears just a superior brawler. But let's address one of the dumbest reasons I heard tiger fans mention, which is, and I quote, Tigers kill larger prey than brown bears, therefore they can kill brown bears. What, you're kidding, right? You're not about to tell me that some large deer, buffalo, is the same as a brown bear. Yeah, n that's a logical fallacy called false equivalency. When Tigers face off against Bears versus Buffalo, there are vastly different dynamics, defense mechanisms, and behavioral responses that lead to totally different scenario iOS. And speaking of natural instincts and behavior, I think it's about time we should address the big elephant in the room, which is the actual confrontations between Siberian tigers and brown bears. Now, many of you have probably heard about tigers hunting brown bears, but there is context behind that stat, and it's very misunderstood. That statement is often used when trying to determine a

verdict between tigers and bears. The people who try to use that as evidence, I doubt, use their brains to even do the slightest bit of research into it. You see, all those cases concerning tiger predation involve juvenile or female bears and not fully grown mature males. In fact, almost all instances happen either when the bears are hibernating or their guard is down and are severely weakened. You see, most if not all cases take place when the tiger ambushes the brown bear, and this makes sense since tigers, just like every other cat, are ambush predators that seek stealth in order to hunt. Oh yeah, by the way, there have been literally no recorded cases of a tiger and male brown bear squaring off. H, I wonder why. So take that what you make of it, but anyways, how do we know that tigers are eating bears? Well, first things first, bears are rarely on the menu for tigers because they pose a very high risk, so let's get that straightened out. Secondly, how we know tigers

It does not give us any details on how the Bear died. For example, the tiger could have come across a deceased bear and decided to chow on its remains. Then, a few days later, researchers find bear remains in Tiger's cat and say tigers eat bears. Well, technically yes, it did, but it doesn't give us any insight into how the bear was even killed or even the size and condition the bear was in. And guess what? Tiger fur has been found in bear scat. So, should we say that bears eat Tigers now? Yes, we can theoretically. So can I now use that as evidence to say that brown bears stomp Tigers? No, no, I can't because that is illogical reasoning. But anyways, what other confrontation stat shall we address? Well, you might have heard tiger fans bringing up the infamous 22-2 win ratio favoring the Tiger, but those

numbers are vague at best. Yeah, that ratio is intentionally ambiguous about the age and gender of the brown bears involved, making the stat highly questionable, almost as if it was just pulled out of thin air. Like seriously, I couldn't even find a proper research article concerning Siberian tigers or brown bears even referencing that statistic. If it was really that important, you'd think that there would be at least one article referencing that, but nope. In fact, I dare you to try to find it. It's not going to happen. Any scientist would immediately disregard that statement as it's founded on ambiguity and doesn't supply any of the necessary stats of the bear or tiger involved, such as the condition, size, or how the animal died. Oh yeah, by the way, all these quote-unquote eyewitness accounts are disregarded in the scientific community for various reasons and should be excluded for validating any arguments. Often they are over-exaggerated or just straight-up falsified. But okay, we get it. All those arguments are either misconstrued or

lion faulty foundation so well. I suppose the last thing we could address as Weaponry. After all, they are both deadly animals, but which weapons are superior, a tiger's or a brown bear's? Well, let's find out right now. Weaponry and fighting IQ. All right, so we all know what tigers are capable of, you know, ripping into flesh. And speaking of tearing apart prey, what are their claws looking like? Well, a tiger's claws are specifically meant for ripping into prey and slicing through flesh. Because of that, they lose a bit of size with their claws protruding out about 1 and 1/2 to 2 in on a good day. And why did I say protruding out? Well, they have retractable claws, with around half their claw length actually being inside their paws in order to shock absorb a strike. That's why you might see many sites saying that they can grow between 3 to 4 in, but in actuality, the part of the claws that are being used is only about half that. Now, what about a

brown bear's claws. Well, just like everything on this bear, it's a lot larger. Their claws are about 4 in long, and they stay out. Bears do not have retractable claws like tigers. Why is that? Well, their claws are like a multi-purpose tool. Oh yeah, here is one thing to note: a brown bear's paws are a lot larger than a tiger's, thus giving them more power in their arm movements and also when they occasionally strike. But how about their bites? Well, they both have incredibly powerful bites. However, a tiger's are actually more suited for a carnivorous diet. They have longer canine teeth, but their skull is a bit smaller than a brown bear's. And speaking of brown bears, the bear has longer jaws and a more elongated snout. In turn, it offers a bite reach advantage. You know, it would likely be able to bite the tiger first rather than vice versa. But you see, tigers like to go for the throat since it's their natural instinct. But it will only bite if it's in a dominating

position. Think of it like a final shot, but when a bear bites, it tends to be a lot more frequent and is a bit more rangy when doing so. They bite wherever they can get a hold of, such as the body, limbs, and so on. This, in turn, leaves wounds all across the body rather than a specific area like the neck region, and this plays right into the bear's fighting technique, which is wrestling. To see if a brown bear theoretically fought a tiger, the bear would have a superior advantage in not only his fighting technique, that being standing up and wrestling, but also it has a great size advantage, a stamina advantage, and is overall more powerful. It's kind of hard to even think about an advantage the tiger might have. I mean, maybe agility, but like, come on, that would only get it so far before the bear's brute force and bulky body would overwhelm the tiger. Also, the tiger would have a harder time inflicting wounds on the hefty body of the bear. You know, it would just get a

claw full of fern fat. In turn, this means that the bear would have an easy time dealing damage to the tiger. You know the hits are almost going to go straight to the muscle and skeleton because of the tiger's worst defense and frailer frame. So, please tell me, after using your brain, how is a tiger even supposed to survive an encounter with a mature brown bear without running away?
